Jung Hoo Lee is Held Out on Sunday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (elbow) is being held out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Lee was pulled from Saturday's game after getting hit in the elbow by a pitch in the seventh inning. The Giants are going to play it safe and hold out Lee for at least one game. He is reportedly dealing with some soreness, but isn't dealing with any structural issues. Grant McCray will cover right field and bat ninth versus right-hander Jose Soriano on Sunday. Fantasy managers should check back ahead of Monday's game for another update on his status.

Jung Hoo Lee Can Contribute Contact Numbers in Deep Leagues

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is hitting .303 this season with a .331 wOBA and 110 wRC+. He slumped a little bit going into the All-Star break, hitting .158 over his last 16 games before the break, but he seems to have benefited from the time off and has started the second half with five hits in his first four games, going 5-for-16 (.313) with three runs scored. As a regular in the Giants' lineup, he can chip in solid counting stats and usually hits for a good enough average to be a deep league option in the outfield. He only has five home runs and six stolen bases through his 92 games, but he has been consistent enough in counting stats and contact ability to help counter-balance your roster if you have big sluggers with low averages in other spots.

Jung Hoo Lee Still Worth Grabbing Off Waivers?

San Francisco Giants right fielder Jung Hoo Lee hit the break batting .302 with 46 runs, 33 RBI, six steals, and five home runs. He has cooled off badly in July, going 8-for-40 with no homers and only two RBI, which helps explain why his Yahoo roster rate has slipped to 36%. The power is probably not coming. Lee has a 28.3% hard-hit rate and just a 2.3% barrel rate, so fantasy managers should view him for what he is: a batting-average helper who can score runs and chip in the occasional steal. His 9.7% strikeout rate keeps the floor fairly steady, and he is still playing every day. RotoBaller has him in the 12-team-league range. He is not a must-add, but managers chasing average should not let the rough July stretch scare them away.

Jung Hoo Lee a Must-Add for Batting Average and Speed?

San Francisco Giants right fielder Jung Hoo Lee has cooled since his big June, but there is still plenty here for fantasy managers to use. He is batting .317/.348/.452 with five home runs, 45 runs, 33 RBI, and six steals through 303 at-bats. Lee hit .340 with two homers, 17 runs, 12 RBI, and five steals in June, striking out only seven times in 102 plate appearances. The power is unlikely to take off. Lee owns a 29.3% hard-hit rate and 2.5% barrel rate, so fantasy managers should view the home runs as a bonus rather than the reason to add him. His contact ability, run production, and recent willingness to steal bases carry the value. Lee is rostered in 49% of Yahoo leagues, and RotoBaller's latest rankings recommend him in 12-team formats. He belongs on a roster in leagues of that size.

Jung Hoo Lee a Priority Waiver Wire Target Amidst Hot Streak

Across 297 plate appearances in 2026, San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is hitting .327/.360/.471 with five home runs, 30 RBI, 41 runs scored, and five stolen bases. The 27-year-old does an excellent job of limiting swing-and-miss, as he's struck out in just 9.1% of his trips to the plate this season. Lee's .345 batting average on balls in play this season is well above his career mark of .304, so he may be in line for some batting average regression in the second half of the year. Still, Lee's ability to consistently make contact keeps his floor in the category high. Lee has also started to reach a bit more power in June, posting a .560 slugging percentage with 11 RBI across 89 plate appearances this month. Fantasy managers should not expect anything more than modest production in the power and speed departments from Lee, but he can be relied upon as a batting average and runs asset. In leagues where Lee is available on the waiver wire, he is a worthy target for fantasy managers.

Jung Hoo Lee's Batting Average Production Making Him a Must-Add Outfielder?

Across 277 plate appearances entering play on Sunday, San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee had hit .331/.361/.462 with four home runs, 26 RBI, 39 runs scored, and four stolen bases. The 27-year-old is one of the hardest players in baseball to strike out (9.4% strikeout rate), which provides him with a solid batting average floor. Lee owns just a 2.5% barrel rate and a 30.4% hard-hit rate, so he's unlikely to provide fantasy managers with much power production. He's also not a significant speed threat, as his career high for stolen bases in a season is 10. Still, Lee is a consistent presence in the Giants' lineup who should provide fantasy managers with an excellent batting average and solid counting stats as long as he stays healthy. For rosters in need of batting average, Lee should be a priority waiver wire target.

Jung Hoo Lee Emerging as a Batting-Average Asset on the Waiver Wire

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee has been one of his team's lone offensive bright spots so far in 2026, hitting .331/.364/.445 with three home runs, 24 RBI, 35 runs scored, and three stolen bases across 261 plate appearances. With a 9.5% strikeout rate, Lee is one of the most difficult players in baseball to strike out. The 27-year-old is also on an absolute tear in June, hitting .431 across his first 53 plate appearances this month. Lee's underlying contact metrics suggest that his power upside is very limited, as he owns a 2.3% barrel rate and a 30.6% hard-hit rate. He's also benefitted from a .356 batting average on balls in play so far this season, which is significantly higher than his career mark of .305. Still, Lee profiles as a batting average asset for fantasy managers even with some regression baked in. For fantasy managers who have power to spare but are struggling with batting average, Lee could be worth targeting on the waiver wire.

Should Jung Hoo Lee be Rostered in More Fantasy Baseball Leagues?

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in the team's 2-1 10-inning loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night at Wrigley Field to extend his current hitting streak to 15 games. During his hitting streak, Lee has gone 28-for-58 (.483) at the plate with a home run, four doubles, a triple, eight RBI, 13 runs scored, and two stolen bases across 60 plate appearances. Don't look now, but the 27-year-old Japanese native is now slashing .323/.357/.445 on the season with an .803 OPS, three home runs, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored, and two stolen bases in 220 at-bats for the Gigantes in his third year in the big leagues. So far in seven games in June, Lee is hitting an absurd .462 (12-for-26) with two doubles, three RBI, six runs scored, and two stolen bases. He isn't going to keep this pace up, and he's never going to be much of a power asset, but while he's feeling it at the dish, fantasy managers need to take advantage. Lee is only rostered in 32% of Yahoo leagues at the moment.

Jung Hoo Lee is Returning on Friday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (back) was activated off the 10-day Injured List on Friday. Lee will start in right field and bat sixth against right-hander Michael Lorenzen on Friday. Lee has been out since May 22 due to a back strain. Before the injury, Lee was slashing .268/.311/.385 with three home runs, 17 RBI, and 10 walks. He doesn't offer a ton of power upside with the bat, but he's a decent contact hitter. Lee does enough at the plate consistently to warrant a look in deep leagues for fantasy managers struggling to find production.

Jung Hoo Lee Goes on Injured List With Back Strain

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a mid-back strain, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Lee was initially removed from Monday's game early with what the team was calling back spasms. He is not ready to play to kick off a series this weekend against the visiting Chicago White Sox, so he'll land on the IL. With Lee out again on Friday, Harrison Bader is sliding over to center field and will hit ninth, with Casey Schmitt in left field, and Drew Gilbert in right field for the Gigantes. Will Brennan will be another candidate to see more playing time in the outfield for however long Lee is out. The 27-year-old left-handed-hitting Japanese outfielder's fantasy stock was way down, even before his back injury. He offers modest production across the board and is currently hitting .268/.311/.385 with a .696 OPS, only three home runs, 17 RBI, and 20 runs scored in his 179 at-bats this year. Lee has slashed a mediocre .266/.321/.390 with a .712 OPS in his two-plus years in the Bay Area, and he's rostered in only 11% of Yahoo leagues.
