Jung Hoo Lee To Have Surgery Next Tuesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) will have season-ending surgery on his dislocated left shoulder next Tuesday in Los Angeles, with Dr. Neal ElAttrache doing the procedure. Lee is expected to make a full recovery by the start of next spring. Manager Bob Melvin said Lee will remain around the team and rehab in San Francisco. The 25-year-old Japanese outfielder hit .262/.310/.331 with two home runs, four doubles, eight RBI, two stolen bases, 15 runs scored, 10 walks and 13 strikeouts in 158 plate appearances in his first 37 major-league games for the Giants before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury on May 12 against the Cincinnati Reds. Lee tore the labrum in his shoulder but should be ready to roll for the start of the 2025 season as San Fran's starting center fielder and leadoff hitter. If you haven't already done so in redraft leagues, Lee can be safely dropped now.

Jung Hoo Lee To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) is reportedly scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery. The expectation was that Lee would miss significant time after crashing into the wall last weekend. The rookie outfielder will need season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. This is an awful blow to the Giants roster as Lee was only able to play in 37 games during his first season with the Giants. The expectation is that Luis Matos will get significant playing time with Lee out of the picture for the rest of 2024.

Jung Hoo Lee's MRI Shows "Structural Damage"

The San Francisco Giants said that an MRI exam on outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) showed "structural damage" in his left shoulder. Lee will go for a second opinion from Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Thursday. The 25-year-old rookie dislocated his shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall early in Sunday's game and was placed on the injured list on Monday. Now that he's dealing with structural damage in his shoulder with the possibility of needing to go under the knife, fantasy managers may want to prepare for him to miss extended time. Lee has left a lot to be desired over the first month and a half in the big leagues with a .262/.310/.331 slash line with two homers, eight RBI and two steals. Luis Matos has started both games in center field from San Fran since Lee was hurt and figures to see much more playing time moving forward.

Jung Hoo Lee Lands On Injured List

The San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a left-shoulder dislocation and recalled catcher Jakson Reetz from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Lee dislocated his left shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall in Sunday's contest against the Cincinnati Reds and will now miss at least the next 10 days. Given the severity of his injury, Lee should be expected to miss more than the 10 days on the IL. The 25-year-old Japanese outfielder has hit .262/.310/.331 with two home runs, eight RBI, two stolen bases and 15 runs scored in his first 145 major-league at-bats. So far, Lee has not been a great source of counting stats in fantasy leagues. In his absence, rookie Luis Matos and Tyler Fitzgerald are likely to platoon in center field, with Matos on the strong side while facing most right-handers.

Jung Hoo Lee Has A Separated Shoulder

San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) suffered a separated left shoulder in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds in the first inning and will go for an MRI exam. Even if Lee's MRI exam doesn't show any structural damage in his shoulder, the 25-year-old first-year outfielder could be set for an extended absence. Fantasy baseball managers should prepare for a worst-case scenario and for Lee to require a stint on the injured list. With Michael Conforto (hamstring) going on the injured list on Sunday, Luis Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. If Lee misses extended time, Matos, Heliot Ramos and Tyler Fitzgerald could all see more playing time in San Fran's outfield. Fitzgerald replaced Lee in center field on Sunday and went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a strikeout.

Jung Hoo Lee Removed From Sunday's Game

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. This is a shame considering Lee returned to Sunday's lineup after missing the last three games due to a foot issue. The organization is going to further exanimate Lee to determine the severity of the injury. The Giants are already down Michael Conforto (hamstring) and Jorge Soler (shoulder), so the outfield depth is getting thin. The mix of Austin Slater, Luis Matos, and Heliot Ramos figure to be more involved with the outfield banged up in San Francisco.

Jung Hoo Lee Dealing With Foot Injury

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (foot) was absent from the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies in the series finale after fouling a ball off his foot in the win on Wednesday night. Manager Bob Melvin said Lee is getting treatment and the team will see how he feels on Friday before the start of the series opener versus the visiting Cincinnati Reds. Fantasy managers need to consider the 25-year-old as day-to-day for now and check back to see if he's active on Friday. Austin Slater got the nod in center field for the Gigantes on Thursday and was hitting sixth in the order. Lee is currently in the midst of a modest six-game hitting streak in May, going 9-for-29 (.310) in the span with a double and an RBI. He's provided a decent batting average and on-base percentage so far in his first year in the big leagues but with little power (two homers).

Jung Hoo Lee, Matt Chapman Resting Thursday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee and third baseman Matt Chapman are both receiving the day off for Thursday's series finale in Colorado against the Rockies. Austin Slater is starting in center field and is batting sixth, while Wilmer Flores is manning the hot corner and is batting cleanup against Rockies right-hander Cal Quantrill. Lee is currently riding a six-game hitting streak but will take a seat for the first time since April 24. Chapman has cooled off at the plate after a hot start in the first month of the season. It's his first day of rest since April 20. Flores is hitless in four career at-bats against Quantrill and is hitting just .213 (19-for-89) on the year with one home run and 13 RBI in 32 games, but he'll be a DFS sleeper on Thursday in the cleanup spot at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Jung Hoo Lee Sitting Versus Lefty Wednesday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon with New York Mets left-hander Sean Manaea toeing the rubber. The lefty-swinging outfielder has been getting regular playing time out of the leadoff spot for the club this season but will take a seat as the Giants stack right-handed bats against Manaea. It's been a solid start to the 25-year-old's big-league career as Lee is hitting .272 with two homers, two steals, and a tiny 8.7% K% across his first 103 trips to the plate. Lee had a history of elite strikeout and contact rates through a wildly successful seven-year run in the KBO. Austin Slater will handle leadoff duties as he often does against left-handed pitching. First baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. is also out on Wednesday against the lefty.

Jung Hoo Lee Getting First Day Off

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is getting his first day off of the season on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. In addition to Lee, first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr., outfielder Mike Yastrzemski and catcher Patrick Bailey, who all hit left-handed, are on the bench versus left-hander Patrick Corbin. Tyler Fitzgerald will start in center field and bat ninth, Wilmer Flores is at first base and batting second, Austin Slater is in right field and batting leadoff, and Tom Murphy is catching and hitting sixth. The 25-year-old Lee has held his own so far in his rookie season, going 12-for-47 (.255) with a homer and four RBI in his first 12 games. Slater is a prime DFS play on Wednesday against a lefty that he's hitting .462 against with a homer and six RBI in 13 career at-bats.
