Kyle Schwarber Back From Illness to Face the Guardians

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (illness) is feeling better and is serving as the DH and batting second in Friday's series opener against the visiting Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Gavin Williams, according to MLB.com. Schwarber was under the weather earlier this week and missed the entire three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds, but he's back for the weekend series at Citizens Bank Park. Despite missing three contests, the 33-year-old veteran left-handed slugger still leads all of baseball with 20 home runs and is slashing .230/.357/.624 with a .980 OPS. Schwarbs has added 36 RBI, 33 runs scored, and even a stolen base in his 178 at-bats so far in 2026. Fantasy managers are hoping that the three-time All-Star and former Silver Slugger winner can pick up where he left off before his illness, as he has gone 13-for-43 (.302) with nine home runs, a double, 16 RBI, 10 runs, and a steal in his last 10 games, dating back to May 7. Get him back into your starting lineups in all traditional fantasy formats.

Kyle Schwarber Missing Third Straight Game With Illness

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (illness) is sitting out for a third straight game due to an illness on Wednesday against the visiting Cincinnati Reds, according to MLB.com. First baseman Bryce Harper will serve as the DH and bat third, while third baseman Alec Bohm will slide over to first and hit cleanup against Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott. Edmundo Sosa is starting at third base and batting seventh for the Phils. The Phillies aren't going to rush Schwarber back into action in the series finale at Citizens Bank Park with a lefty on the mound. The team has an off day coming on Thursday, too, so the left-handed slugger could be back in the starting nine for Friday's series opener against the Cleveland Guardians. Despite missing the last two days, the 33-year-old veteran still leads the majors with 20 home runs. Schwarbs has been especially hot since May 7, going 13-for-43 (.302) with nine homers, a double, 16 RBI, 10 runs, and a steal in 10 games. Fantasy managers can only hope that he can pick up where he left off after he recovers from his illness.

Kyle Schwarber Still Under the Weather, Out on Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (illness) is out of the starting lineup for a second straight game on Tuesday against the visiting Cincinnati Reds with an illness, according to MLB.com. Shortstop Trea Turner will serve as the DH and will bat leadoff, while Edmundo Sosa will make the start at the 6 and hit seventh against Reds right-hander Chase Burns at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies will give the three-time All-Star another day off. Hopefully, the 33-year-old veteran will be back in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against Cincy. Schwarber continues to mash baseballs well over the fence in 2026 in his 12th year in the big leagues. He currently leads all of baseball with 20 home runs and has also contributed 36 RBI in 47 games across 213 plate appearances. He's been on a homer binge since May 7, going 13-for-43 (.302) with nine homers, a double, 16 RBI, 10 runs scored, and a stolen base in 10 games played. When Schwarber returns to action, fantasy managers will want to throw him right back into all starting lineups. Hopefully, his illness doesn't slow him down at the plate at all.

Kyle Schwarber Out With Illness on Monday

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (illness) is feeling under the weather and will not start in Monday's series opener against the Cincinnati Reds, interim manager Don Mattingly told Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Bryce Harper will take over as the DH on Monday and bat second, while Alec Bohm will move across the diamond to play first base while batting third against Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo. Edmundo Sosa is at the hot corner and is batting cleanup for the Phils. This will be Schwarber's first time on the bench in 2026 after he started each of the team's first 47 games. Fantasy managers should expect the left-handed slugger to be back in there for Game 2 of the series at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday. The 33-year-old veteran slugger remains one of the best sources of power and on-base percentage in his fifth season in Philly. Schwarber enters Monday's action slashing .230/.357/.624 with a .980 OPS, a league-leading 20 home runs, 36 RBI, 33 runs scored, and a stolen base in 213 plate appearances. Sosa will be a viable DFS sleeper in the cleanup spot, and he's also hit .444 with a 1.252 OPS, a homer, and three RBI in 18 career at-bats against Lodolo.

Kyle Schwarber on a Heater, Hits Two More Homers to Take Major-League Lead

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber is on another planet right now. The veteran slugger went 3-for-5 at the plate in Friday night's 11-9 win in extra innings over the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates with two more home runs, five RBI, a walk, and a strikeout to raise his season average to .237 and his OPS to 1.010. The 33-year-old veteran is as hot as they come and now has the major-league lead with 20 home runs and has also driven in 35 in his first 45 games of the 2026 season. Schwarber is seeing the ball really well right now and has homered nine times in his last eight games despite hitting just .237 overall on the year. Strikeouts will continue to be a big part of his game, but as long as he continues to send balls over the fence with regularity, his fantasy managers won't care too much. In his last seven games, he has a 1.133 slugging percentage, and he pulls the ball in the air more than any hitter in baseball. He's a sight to behold right now.

Kyle Schwarber Starting to Heat up at the Plate of Late

Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber is starting to heat up at the plate of late after a slow start to the season. Over the past seven games, he has been slashing .258/.281/.774 with five home runs and seven RBI. He has now improved his overall season line to a .227 average with a .950 OPS. The power has never been the issue for Schwarber; it's mostly been his average and strikeout rate, as it normally is with him, but he was pacing to revert back to his 2023 numbers, where he hit .197 prior to this nice stretch. Schwarber sitll remains one of the best power hitters in the game, and must-start in all formats, but fantasy managers should know that the highs will be high and the lows can be low, making him a better player in rotisserie formats over head to head formats, and especially points leagues, considering he is normally known as someone with around a 30 percent strikeout rate (28.5 percent career strikeout rate and 32.8 percent in 2026). That makes him liable in some points leagues that take points away for strikeouts. Up next for Schwarber and the Phillies are a few road matchups in Boston and Pittsburgh in Week 8.

Kyle Schwarber Goes Deep Twice on Monday in Win Over Cubs

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber had the 37th mult-homer game of his career on Monday night in the team's 13-7 win over the Chicago Cubs. Schwarber finished the night 2-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored, three RBI, and a walk. The 33-year-old veteran three-time All-Star came into Monday's game hitting .212, but he now has six home runs on the year, 12 RBI, and 12 runs scored in 55 at-bats over 16 games played. Schwarber not only has elite power from the left side of the plate, but he gets on base consistently while taking plenty of walks near the top of Philly's batting order on a daily basis. He has hit safely in eight of his 11 games so far in April. Schwarber is a beast in Philly and has at least 46 home runs in three of the last four seasons with the Phillies. He should be in starting fantasy lineups every day.

Kyle Schwarber Taking Ground Balls at First Base

The Philadelphia Phillies have outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber taking ground balls at first base on Tuesday before their game against the division-rival Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park, according to Jeff Kerr of ESPN. Schwarber has only played first base in nine games at the big-league level. He's serving as the designated hitter and is batting out of the two-hole for Tuesday's game versus Nationals left-hander PJ Poulin, while Bryce Harper remains at first base. It's unclear if Schwarber will actually be a realistic option to play the cold corner this year, but it would give the Phillies another option at the position if they want to get Harper off his feet and use him as the DH. We'd be surprised if Schwarber plays enough at first in 2026 to add eligibility for his fantasy managers at the position. The 33-year-old three-time All-Star provides elite power in fantasy after clubbing a league-high 56 homers in 162 regular-season games in 2025. He currently has only two hits (one homer) in his 18 plate appearances in the first four games of the year.

Does Kyle Schwarber Warrant First-Round Consideration?

Since signing with the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of the 2022 season, designated hitter Kyle Schwarber has established himself as one of baseball's premier power hitters. Over the last four years, Schwarber has belted 187 home runs while collecting 434 RBI and scoring 429 runs. 2025 was Schwarber's best season to date, as he slashed .240/.365/.563 with 56 home runs, 132 RBI, 111 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases across 724 plate appearances. Batting average is the main risk in Schwarber's fantasy profile, as he is a career .231 hitter who has struck out in at least 27% of his plate appearances in six consecutive seasons. The 33-year-old is also limited to UT-only eligibility in most fantasy formats, as he made just eight appearances in the outfield in 2025. Still, Schwarber is as bankable a power and run production threat as there is in MLB. His status as a full-time designated hitter may also help him stay in the lineup every day, as he's logged at least 660 plate appearances in four consecutive campaigns. The first round of fantasy drafts may be a bit rich for Schwarber, but he remains one of the safest hitters in fantasy baseball heading into 2026.

Kyle Schwarber an Elite Power Threat in Hitter-Friendly Home Ballpark

Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber led the league and set a new career high with 56 home runs in 2025 in his fourth season with the Phils. He also had a league- and career-high 132 RBI while slashing .240/.365/.563 with a career-best .928 OPS, career-high 111 runs scored, and career-best 10 stolen bases in 162 games. The 32-year-old left-handed slugger is strictly a DH, though, and his high strikeout totals will ensure that his batting average will remain low. He finished last year third in walks (108), and he was the runner-up to Shohei Ohtani in the National League MVP voting. Schwarber has had 100-plus RBI in each of the last three years. The fact that Schwarber re-signed with the Phillies is a huge plus for his fantasy outlook going into the 2026 campaign, where he'll remain an elite power threat and run producer. RotoBaller has Schwarber ranked as the No. 23 overall player.
