Lazaro Montes Hits Home Run No. 32 on Saturday

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes homered for the fourth time in his last four games on Saturday at Double-A Arkansas, which has also included six RBI and six runs scored over that stretch. The Mariners' third-ranked prospect is up to 32 home runs on the season, which is tied for the minor league lead. He's hitting just .224 with a 30.7 percent strikeout rate with Arkansas through 46 games, but has continued to draw walks at an above-average rate of 13.1 percent to help offset that. The 20-year-old needs to cut down on the K%, but his power is what will eventually propel him to the big leagues, which could come as soon as later next year or 2027.

Lazaro Montes Breaks Out of Power Slump

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes was able to break out of his power slump on Thursday evening during their contest against Double-A Northwest Arkansas. In this contest, Montes went 2-for-4 at the plate with a round-tripper, two RBI, and a walk. Over his last nine games, Montes carried a low .176/.263/.206 line with one double and a 13:4 K:BB. Since moving up to Double-A earlier this season, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com has had mixed results, carrying a .223/.323/.453 line with four doubles, two triples, eight home runs, and two stolen bases. However, earlier in the season with High-A, Montes held a .268/.387/.572 line with an elite .959 OPS. Given his high power upside, Montes is worth closely monitoring as he could push his MLB debut late next season.

Lazaro Montes Hits Slump at Double-A

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes has hit a bit of a cold stretch at Double-A. Over his last 12 games, the budding star has posted a modest .167/.245/.310 slash line. During this stretch, he has held a hefty 34.7% K rate and only hit one home run. However, during his first 16 games at Double-A Arkansas, Montes looked quite comfortable, hitting six home runs and holding a solid 19:13 K:BB. Earlier this season, the No. 23-ranked prospect in baseball (according to MLB.com) opened the campaign at High-A and held a .268/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles and 18 round-trippers. Despite the small skid, Montes is a high-end hitting prospect and a top stash in dynasty formats. If he can turn the corner before the season's end, he could remain on track to make his MLB debut late next season.

Lazaro Montes Continues Power Surge

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes continued to hit for power on Thursday evening. Facing Double-A Tula, the budding star went 1-for-4 with a home run and two strikeouts. This his second long ball over his last three games. Since earning the call to join Double-A Arkansas, Montes has posted an impressive .273/.388/.636 slash line with one double and five long balls. The No. 29-ranked prospect on MLB.com began the campaign with High-A but needed just 67 games to prove he was ready for a promotion. Through this stint, Montes held a .269/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles and 18 home runs. In total, Montes' 23 long balls this season tie with the most home runs in the minor leagues alongside Ryan Ward of the Dodgers. Montes is worth closely monitoring as he is developing into one of the best hitters in the minor leagues.

Lazaro Montes Hits Fourth Double-A Home Run

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI during their contest against Double-A Tula on Tuesday evening. Since earning the promotion to Double-A, Montes has swung a hot bat. Through his first 13 games at the level, Montes has held a .298/.424/.660 slash line with a double, two triples, four long balls, a stolen base, and a 14:11 K:BB. Earlier this season, Montes received his second look at High-A ball and posted a .268/.387.572 line with 12 doubles and 18 home runs across 67 games. Even though Montes will not be in the mix to reach the majors this season, he is quickly progressing through the Seattle system. If he continues this pace, he may earn a brief taste of Triple-A later in the second half and be on track to reach Seattle in 2026.

Lazaro Montes Tallies Three Hits, Extends Hitting Streak to Five Games

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes has yet to slow down since earning the call to Double-A Arkansas. On Wednesday evening, Montes went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, an RBI, and two runs. This outing extended his current hitting streak to five games. During these five games, Montes has tallied two triples, two home runs, five RBI, and a 3:5 K:BB. Through his first eight games at Double-A, Montes has posted an impressive .333/.462/.800 line with three round-trippers with a 7:8 K:BB. The No. 2-ranked prospect in the Seattle system opened the campaign with High-A, where he posted a .268/.387/.572 slash line across 67 games. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on Montes as he is developing into one of the top hitters in the minor leagues. He remains on track to contend for his MLB debut next summer.

Lazaro Montes Homers in Second Straight Game, Leads Minors with 21

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes went deep again on Saturday, going 1-for-3 with two walks and his 21st home run of the year. It was his third home run in five games since being promoted to Double-A, now 4-for-19 (.211) with all four hits going for extra bases, while also logging a 6:5 BB:K. The 21 home runs are the most in all the minor leagues, and after belting 21 all of last year as a 19-year-old, he'll blow past that number in 2025. The Mariners' second-ranked prospect should continue to add to his resume and is on track for a debut in the majors at some point next season.

Lazaro Montes Hits 20th Home Run of the Season

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes has become the first player in the minor leagues to hit 20 home runs during the 2025 campaign. On Friday evening, Montes went 1-for-4 with a long ball. Since earning the promotion to Double-A earlier in the week, the budding star in Seattle has hit two home runs and added a double. He has drawn four walks and has only struck out four times. Earlier in the season, the 20-year-old spent time with High-A Everett and held a .268/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles, 18 home runs, three stolen bases, and an 83:47 K:BB. The No. 36-ranked prospect on MLB.com is worth keeping a close eye on as he appears to be an ascending star in the minor leagues. If he continues to perform at a high level at Double-A, he should remain on track to reach the majors next season.

Lazaro Montes Hits First Double-A Long Ball

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, and two RBI during their contest against Double-A Amarillo. After going 0-for-3 with two walks in his Double-A debut on Tuesday, Montes wasted little time to make an impact on Wednesday. Montes is currently considered the No. 36-ranked prospect in the sport and No. 2-ranked prospect in the Seattle system on MLB.com. Montes opened the campaign with High-A, where he posted a strong .268/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles, 18 home runs, and an 83:48 K:BB. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor the budding star as he appears to be a fast-rising asset in dynasty leagues. Montes remains on track to compete for his MLB debut during the 2026 season.

Lazaro Montes Promoted to Double-A Arkansas

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes is being promoted to Double-A Arkansas. The Mariners' second-ranked prospect was hitting .268 at High-A with four home runs over his last four games before the promotion. The 20-year-old's 18 home runs, 50 RBI, .572 SLG, and .959 OPS led the Northwest League so far in 2025. While a 27.6 percent strikeout is on the high side, it is somewhat offset by his strong 15.9 percent walk rate. The 6-foot-5 slugger is coming off a 21-homer campaign in 2024 as a 19-year-old, and look for him to show off the prodigious power at Double-A. The left-hand-hitting Cuban could be knocking on the door to majors sometime next season, so dynasty managers should keep a close eye on how he performs over the rest of 2025.
