Michael Baumann Sustains Flexor Strain, Expected Back For 2021
Baltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Michael Baumann (arm) sustained a flexor strain in his pitching arm while working at the clubs alternate training site. General manager Mike Elias announced that Baumann, the clubs No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is expected back in time for Spring Training next season due to the fact that he avoided ligament damage. Entering camp as a 25-year-old, Baumann may get a crack at the Orioles starting rotation, having compiled a 2.82 ERA across three Minor League campaigns. Check back throughout the winter for updates on his progress.
Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Michael Baumann has been shut down with a flexor strain in his elbow, according to Dan Connolly of The Athletic. The team is not considering surgery at this time, as they do not believe the injury is a long-term concern. Baumann posted a 6-2 record at Double-A in 2019 to go along with a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 65/21 K/BB rate. He is not a must-own prospect in dynasty leagues, but he has legitimate potential as a mid-rotation arm.
