Ryan Ward a Left-Handed Power Bat to Monitor in Deep Fantasy Leagues?

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward, who is ranked as the team's No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is a left-handed power bat to monitor in deep fantasy baseball leagues in the short term. Since being called up to the majors for the first time, the 28-year-old former eighth-round selection in 2019 out of Bryant University has gone 11-for-43 (.256) with three home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI, and seven runs scored in his 46 plate appearances. The 5-foot-10, 200-pounder got the call to L.A. after hitting .254 (45-for-177) with six home runs, 31 RBI, 28 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 47 games played with Triple-A Oklahoma City this year. At least until Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) returns from his stay on the injured list, Ward can be an asset in deeper leagues for his power against right-handed arms. All three of his home runs and all 11 of his RBI have come off righties, and he's been afforded just three plate appearances against southpaws. Because he struggles against lefties, though, Ward is unlikely to have an everyday role this year in a crowded Dodgers lineup, especially once Hernandez returns.

Is Ryan Ward Worth Picking Up Following Hot Start to MLB Career?

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Ryan Ward could be playing his way into a larger role with a great start to his MLB career. The 28-year-old lefty is 8-for-30 (.267) with a pair of doubles, three home runs, and a 14.3% barrel rate through his first nine games. He's currently in a strict platoon with Alex Call, starting against righties and sitting against lefties, but he has shown enough power potential to be worth a look in deep leagues. In Triple-A before his promotion, he was hitting .254 with six homers and a .370 wOBA. He is getting enough playing time in an excellent lineup to be a deep-league add right away, and he could work his way to standard-sized league relevance if he keeps mashing.

Ryan Ward Launches First Career Home Run, Will He Carve Out a Full-Time Role?

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder/first baseman Ryan Ward picked up his first career home run on Sunday during his team's 9-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Ward was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday after the Dodgers placed veteran outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old Ward has been in the Dodgers farm system since 2019 and recorded back-to-back minor league seasons with at least 34 home runs and 104 RBI in 2024 and 2025. The lefty-swinging Ward could be in a position to play on the big side of a platoon in left field with Dodgers outfielder Alex Call until Hernandez returns from the IL. With regular playing time, Ward's power could provide a nice lift for fantasy managers in deeper leagues. The Dodgers' depth brings Ward's playing time into question, but he may still be worth targeting on the waiver wire.

Dodgers Promote No. 19 Prospect Ryan Ward, Will he Play Enough in L.A.?

The Los Angeles Dodgers are recalling outfielder/first baseman Ryan Ward with Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) going on the 10-day injured list on Thursday, according to Sonja Chen of MLB.com. Ward is the Dodgers' No. 19 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and led the minors with 36 home runs in 2025. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter and former eighth-round pick in 2019 out of Bryan University had two hits in six plate appearances with an RBI for the Blue earlier this year. In 47 games across 214 plate appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, Ward has hit .254/.379/.418 with a .797 OPS, six home runs, nine doubles, a triple, 31 RBI, six stolen bases, and 28 runs scored. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect consistently hits balls hard and has intriguing power for fantasy managers in deeper leagues looking for a spark. Ward could play regularly in L.A. going forward against right-handed pitchers with both Teoscar and Enrique Hernandez (oblique) out for at least several weeks, if not more.

Ryan Ward Emerging as Potential Trade Candidate

The Los Angeles Dodgers could look to shop outfielder Ryan Ward following the signing of star outfielder Kyle Tucker. As reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers are "likely" to explore trade offers for the 27-year-old ahead of spring training. While initial reports suggested they could shop Teoscar Hernandez, the Dodgers are likely to shift him to left field and instead move the long-time minor leaguer. Last season, Ward turned in an impressive campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City and was making a strong push to join the Dodgers down the stretch. The Pacific Coast League MVP posted a remarkable .290/.380/.557 line with a .937 OPS, 31 doubles, 36 home runs, and 16 stolen bases. Ward is a name to closely monitor as he would become an intriguing sleeper for deeper leagues if he can join a club that would give him an opportunity to crack an Opening Day roster.

Ryan Ward Finishes as Minor-League Home Run, RBI Leader

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward won the Joe Bauman Award after he hit the most home runs in the minors this year, blasting 36 homers this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City. It's the third straight season with at least 33 home runs, and this year he seemed to put it all together, as he hit .290 with a better-than-average strikeout rate of 18.7 percent after coming into the year as a .258 hitter in the minors with a 23.9 percent strikeout rate. The 27-year-old also registered a 12.7 percent walk rate, which helped him to a strong .380 OBP, and he also recorded a career-high 16 stolen bases. His 122 RBI also led the entire minor leagues. Even so, unfortunately, the left-handed slugger's name has yet to be called for a major league debut, but perhaps next season he'll get a shot, even if it ends up coming with a different organization.

Ryan Ward Extends Hit Streak to 15 Games at Triple-A

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward extended his hit streak to 15 games with a 1-for-4 effort on Saturday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 27-year-old has been red-hot during the stretch, slashing .397 with six home runs. On the season, Ward has tallied 24 doubles, 28 home runs, and 92 RBI across 95 games, leading the club in homers and RBI. Despite his standout production, Los Angeles' deep roster continues to block his path to the majors. With the trade deadline approaching, Ward could become a valuable trade chip and a strong candidate to earn MLB playing time elsewhere.

Ryan Ward Named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward earned Pacific Coast League Player of the Week honors for the week of July 7-13. The 27-year-old went 9-for-21 (.429) with four doubles, a triple, and one home run, along with six RBI, four runs scored, and a 6:3 BB:K in six games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The left-handed slugger is up to a .309/.399/.597 slash line for the season, and his 108 hits, 24 home runs, and 82 RBI lead all minor leaguers. He's always had big power, but through 261 games at Triple-A prior to this year, he registered a 26.1 percent strikeout rate. However, this season he has cut that down to a better-than-average 20.0 percent, complemented by a strong 13.1 percent walk rate. If he gets the call to the majors, the power potential and offensive environment could make him an intriguing waiver add in very deep and NL-only leagues.

Ryan Ward Leading All Minor Leaguers in Home Runs

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward leads all minor leaguers in home runs with 23 through 82 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He also leads in RBI (76) and is tied for most hits (99). The 27-year-old has shown prodigious power in the past, blasting at least 21 home runs in each of the past four seasons, topping out at 33 last year at Triple-A. With the power had come an elevated strikeout rate of 26.8 percent last season, but the left-handed slugger has improved it to a better-than-average 20.7 percent this year, all while boasting the best walk rate of his career (12.5 percent). The former eighth-round draft pick looks worthy of a shot in the big leagues and could make his major league debut this year. Although he's not a stash candidate, there's enough power and he would be hitting in a formidable Dodger lineup that could make him a potential waiver add in very deep or NL-only leagues whenever he gets the call.

Ryan Ward Launches Three Home Runs on Thursday

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Ryan Ward went 5-for-5 with three home runs and six RBI during their contest against Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday evening. The 27-year-old has been one of the best power hitters at Triple-A this season and enjoyed a career night. Through 51 total games with Oklahoma City this season, Ward has held a .323/.400/.576 slash line with 12 doubles, 12 home runs, and 40 RBI. The outfielder has swiped five bags and held a 47:26 K:BB. Last season, the Bryant University product spent most of his campaign with Triple-A and held a lower .250/.317/.543 slash line. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his power production as he could be in the mix to make his MLB debut later this summer.
