Slade Caldwell Swipes Three Bags on Tuesday

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Slade Caldwell went 1-for-3 with two walks and three stolen bases on Tuesday for High-A Hillsboro. The D-backs' second-ranked prospect collected two hits in his first game at High-A, but has gone 3-for-19 (.158) in the six games since. However, the good news is that he's still getting on base via the walk, drawing six free passes over that stretch, too. The 19-year-old doesn't appear to be overmatched either, striking out just three times in his 32 plate appearances (9.4 percent) for the Hops. The 2024 first-rounder is young and getting his first taste of professional baseball this season, but could make a run for another promotion later this year if he can continue to produce, although it could be a while until we see him in the majors.

Slade Caldwell Tallies Two Hits in High-A Debut

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Slade Caldwell went 2-for-5 with two singles, a stolen base, and a strikeout during his High-A debut against Eugene on Tuesday evening. Caldwell was selected with the 29th pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Valley View HS. Caldwell made his professional debut this summer with Low-A Visalia. Through 48 games, the 18-year-old performed at an elite level, posting a .294/.460/.454 line. He went deep three times and added 13 doubles with two triples. He swiped 13 bags and showed a strong eye at the plate, holding a 62:44 K:BB. Over his final 13 games before earning the promotion, the No. 97-ranked prospect in baseball posted a .327 AVG with a .880 OPS. Fantasy managers should expect Caldwell to spend the majority of the campaign with High-A.

Slade Caldwell Getting Promoted to High-A Hillsboro

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Slade Caldwell is headed to High-A Hillsboro. The 2024 first-rounder slashed .294/.460/.454 with 13 doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 13 steals in 48 games for Single-A Visalia. Also, despite a 28.7 percent strikeout rate, the 18-year-old owned just a 6.4 percent swinging-strike rate and displayed a keen eye, recording a 20.4 percent walk rate for the Rawhide. Look for him to improve on the strikeout rate and refine his stolen base skills at the next level, but an MLB debut is still a couple of seasons away. Still young and able to grow into more power, plus tons of speed, give the left-handed hitter plenty of fantasy intrigue, so dynasty managers would be wise to keep an eye on his development.

Slade Caldwell Records Fourth Straight Multi-Hit Game

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Slade Caldwell went 3-for-5 on Tuesday for Single-A Visalia, recording an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. It was the fourth straight multi-hit effort for the 2024 first-round draft pick, going 10-for-17 (.588) with two doubles, a home run, and one steal over that stretch. Importantly, the left-handed hitter struck out just twice in 18 plate appearances (11.1 percent), which was an improved rate compared to the 31.6 percent strikeout rate he was sporting before this hot streak. It's the 18-year-old's first glimpse of professional ball, though, so some growing pains are to be expected. Arizona's second-ranked prospect will be their top-ranked prospect as soon as Jordan Lawlar graduates, and brings 70-grade speed to the diamond, so it will be fun to watch him develop his bat alongside his base-stealing ability on his way to the big leagues.

Slade Caldwell Homers, Gets on Base Four Times

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Slade Caldwell went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a home run for Single-A Visalia on Wednesday, collecting two RBI and scoring twice in the process. The performance pushed Arizona's 2024 first-round draft pick's slash line up to .297/.481/.500 for the season with three home runs and nine stolen bases. Despite a 30.7 percent strikeout rate, the 18-year-old is impressing in his first taste of professional baseball, and the strikeout rate is offset by a strong 22.7 percent walk rate (37:50 BB:K) through 36 games. MLB's No. 99th-ranked prospect could be in the mix for a promotion to High-A later this season, but is a few seasons away from major league duty. With solid power and tons of speed, the left-handed slugger is a prospect to keep an eye on for dynasty leagues.

Slade Caldwell Breaks Out Of Slump

Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Slade Caldwell enjoyed a breakout game with Low-A Visalia on Thursday evening. In this contest, Caldwell went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run. He tallied one RBI and scored one run. He also drew a walk. This was his first multi-hit game of his professional career. Through the five games of the regular season, Caldwell tallied just two combined hits. During this slow start, he held a modest 8:7 BB:K and swiped two bags. Only one hit went for extra bases. This is a great sign for Caldwell as it appears to have started to turn the corner with Low-A. The Diamondbacks drafted the Valley View HS product with the 29th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. While he remains several seasons away from his MLB debut, he is worth keeping a close eye on in dynasty formats.
