Tyler Lyons Designated for Assignment

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons has been designated for assignment on Friday. Lyons posted a 8.64 ERA in 27 appearances with 16 earned runs in 16 innings with the Cards this season. However, Lyons put together two solid seasons with the Cardinals during 2016 and 2017. He's not worth owning in fantasy leagues right now, but maybe he could bounce back later in the season or on another team.

Tyler Lyons Begins a Throwing Program

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons (elbow) has started a throwing program. Lyons will move onto mound work sometime next week. He landed on the disabled list on June 8 due to an elbow strain, but it looks like he could be ready to rejoin the Cardinals bullpen sometime in early July.

Tyler Lyons Heads to the Disabled List

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons was placed on the disabled list due to a left elbow sprain. The move was made retroactive to June 6. He'll be eligible to return on June 16, but the severity of the injury is currently unclear and Lyons may end up spending more time on the shelf than just the required 10 days. He'd only made one appearance in the month of June.

Tyler Lyons Comes Back To St. Louis After DL Stint

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Tyler Lyons came back off the disabled list on Saturday. He will likely take back his main role as a long reliever. He has found success in the role, and has made spot starts in the past. With Alex Reyes and Carlos Martinez back soon, and the way Jack Flaherty filled in, it is not likely that he will see any starts. While he has not had a very good season this year, it is still early and he is coming off his best season yet. Last year, he had 68 strikeouts with a 2.83 ERA. His SO9 was 11.3 last season and is down two points this year.

Tyler Lyons Heads to Disabled List

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons (back) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list. The team is calling the injury a mid-back strain. This could explain his 6.17 ERA through 18 appearances this season. It's unclear how long Lyons will be sidelined right now. He's not worth holding onto in any leagues at the moment.

Dominic Leone and Tyler Lyons to Share Closer Duties to Start the Season

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitchers Dominic Leone and Tyler Lyons will split closer duties to kick off the season while Luke Gregerson (hamstring) starts the year on the disabled list. With Gregerson already having a less-than-solid grasp on the ninth inning, it wouldn't be a surprise to see either Lyons or Leone take over the role for good. The righty Leone is the more likely choice.

Tyler Lyons and the Cardinals Avoid Arbitration

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons and the team were able to avoid arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.2 million contract. Lyons was excellent in 2017, posting a 2.83 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 68/20 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 54 innings. He'll resume his late-inning setup role in 2018.

Tyler Lyons Collects a Save on Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons earned his third save of the season on Tuesday, helping the Cardinals beat the Reds. Lyons only needed to record two outs, as he came in with one out already on the scoreboard. Juan Nicasio started the inning and was presumably going to have the chance to earn the save, but he got into trouble and was replaced by Lyons, who got the last two outs of the night. Nicasio still seems like the safer bet for saves, but Lyons could get a couple in the last few games.

Tyler Lyons Picks Up a Three-Inning Save

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Tyler Lyons picked up a three-inning save on Tuesday, allowing three hits and striking out two. Lyons came in for the seventh inning and stayed on the mound until the 6-0 victory belonged to the Cardinals. With it only being Game 1 of a doubleheader, Lyons really did "save" the bullpen, which is allegedly the point of the three-inning save even being an official stat. Lyons is a middle reliever with very little, if any, fantasy value.
