New York Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a hamstring strain, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. The Mets recalled first baseman Jared Young from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. Taylor has been out of the Mets' lineup the last couple of days with the injury and will now miss more time. The 31-year-old will now be hoping to return later this month to try and help the team get into the postseason. Outside of some modest speed (11 stolen bases), he has been off the fantasy radar, hitting .218 (65-for-298) with only two home runs, 25 RBI and 33 runs scored as a fourth outfielder in New York. Fantasy managers still playing for something in 2025 can continue to ignore Taylor.

It's unclear if he'll be available on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers. The right-handed Taylor, who has been platooning in center field with lefty-swinging Cedric Mullins, hasn't played since last Friday. Taylor appeared in nine games in August and went a red-hot 11-for-30 with four doubles, seven RBI, and six runs scored, but he otherwise hasn't offered much offensive production this season. The 31-year-old has hit .218/.277/.315 with two homers, 25 RBI, 33 runs scored, and 11 steals in 328 plate appearances.

If the 31-year-old continues to hit well, he could easily take over the starting duties in center field after Jose Siri has started his first year in New York with just one hit in 17 at-bats with an RBI, four runs scored, two steals, three walks and five strikeouts in his first seven games. Taylor has gone 4-for-18 with an RBI, no walks and four strikeouts in five games played. The center-field situation in New York is still in flux in the early portion of the season. Taylor won't be a very attractive DFS play on Tuesday and is hitless in just two career at-bats against Gillispie.

He generated a modest .301 xwOBA but placed in the 86th percentile in range. Siri went deep 18 times and swiped 14 bags last season and should be viewed as a high-risk option in DFS facing Houston right-hander Spencer Arrighetti.

He can offer modest speed and power numbers in a part-time role for those in NL-only formats. Taylor has never faced Brown in his MLB career.

Taylor looks fully healthy in camp after having multiple surgeries late last year -- one to remove a loose body in his right elbow and the other being an umbilical hernia repair. Superstar Juan Soto will be the team's everyday right fielder in 2025, but the 31-year-old Taylor could see plenty of playing time in center field now that Harrison Bader is in Minnesota. However, he'll be competing this spring with veteran Starling Marte and Jose Siri in center. Taylor made 76 starts for the Mets last year as their fourth outfielder and hit .248/.299/.401 with seven homers, 35 RBI and a career-high 11 stolen bases. At best, he's likely ticketed for a platoon role, which will limit his fantasy value to deep-mixed and NL-only leagues.

Taylor is expected to miss around two months after the two surgeries. While Taylor should be ready for the start of spring training in February, he'll spend much of his offseason rehabbing two different injuries. Depending on what the Mets do in the offseason on the trade and free-agent markets, the 30-year-old veteran could be in line to start in center field for the team to open the 2025 season. The former second-rounder by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012 hit .248/.299/.401 with a career-worst .701 OPS, seven homers, 35 RBI, 11 steals and 47 runs in 130 regular-season games in his first year with the Mets in 2024.

He's hit just .162 in 10 games without Marte, although he's added three home runs and two doubles. Stewart is hitting just .176 on the year with five home runs, while McNeil hasn't been much better with a .216 average (59-for-273) with five homers, 20 RBI and four stolen bases.

Taylor went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer, two runs, and a walk in the win over the Yankees. The 30-year-old is expected to see more playing time with Starling Marte (knee) sidelined and he certainly took advantage of that opportunity on Wednesday. Overall, Taylor is hitting .240 with three homers, 19 runs, 20 RBI, and six steals across 146 at-bats this season. If he can keep this up, Taylor is worth a look as a reserve in deeper fantasy leagues while Marte is out.
