Cavaliers Waive Cam Whitmore

The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived forward Cam Whitmore, HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reports. Cleveland acquired the 22-year-old from Washington last week as part of the five-team deal that brought in Peyton Watson, but Whitmore never had a clear path to a roster spot. The Cavs were expected to use the stretch provision on his roughly $5.5 million expiring salary, helping preserve space below the first apron before James Harden's new contract becomes official. Whitmore's 2025-26 season with Washington ended after 21 games because of deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, and he averaged 9.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 16.9 minutes. His career marks sit at 10.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.3 minutes over 119 games. He should draw interest once he clears waivers, but his health and next role remain too uncertain for fantasy purposes.

Cam Whitmore Headed to Cleveland

The Cleveland Cavaliers are acquiring forward Cam Whitmore from the Washington Wizards as part of the expanded multi-team trade that also sends Peyton Watson to Cleveland, Max Strus to the LA Clippers, Tre Mann to Washington, and Julian Reese to Denver, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The move gives Cleveland a younger, smaller-salary wing after Whitmore's 2025-26 season ended in January because of deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. The 22-year-old averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.7 assists across 21 games while shooting 45.6 percent from the field. The fantasy fit is cloudy. Watson has the cleaner path to impact minutes, while Jaylon Tyson adds more wing competition, leaving Whitmore off fantasy radars until his health and role are clearer.

Cam Whitmore to Miss Rest of Season with Venous Condition

Washington Wizards forward Cam Whitmore (venous condition) will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season after beginning the recovery process, bringing his year to a premature end. Whitmore can be dropped in all formats. The fantasy ripple centers on Kyshawn George, a surprise contributor averaging 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 2.2 three-pointers, and 1.0 steals. Those counting stats can hold, but minutes and usage are split across a crowded forward rotation with Bilal Coulibaly, Justin Champagnie, Khris Middleton, and rookie Will Riley, keeping George's ceiling in check.

Cam Whitmore Out Indefinitely With Deep Vein Thrombosis

Washington Wizards forward Cam Whitmore (shoulder) will be out indefinitely after being diagnosed with upper-extremity deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, ESPN's Shams Charania reports. Whitmore recently dropped out of the lineup due to a shoulder issue, and now we know why. The 21-year-old is playing his first season in Washington after being traded by the Houston Rockets in the offseason. He has averaged 9.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game across 21 outings. Prior to his exit from the lineup, Whitmore had fallen out of the rotation, so his absence won't have an impact in fantasy basketball.

Cam Whitmore, Jamir Watkins Out Against Grizzlies

Washington Wizards forwards Cam Whitmore (shoulder) and Jamir Watkins (illness) have been ruled out for Saturday's contest against the Memphis Grizzlies. The duo was initially listed as questionable for the game. Bilal Coulibaly (ankle) will also exit the lineup against Memphis, opening up playing time for the likes of Justin Champagnie, Tre Johnson, Will Riley, and Malaki Branham (thumb). Of the four players, Johnson has been the best fantasy option, though he has been inconsistent.

Wizards Acquire Cam Whitmore from the Rockets

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Houston Rockets are trading forward Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards. In exchange, Houston will acquire two second-round picks. The Rockets selected the 20-year-old with the No. 20 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, well past where he was initially expected to be selected. He averaged 12.3 points as a rookie. However, Whitmore's production decreased throughout his sophomore campaign, although he did manage to average 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 54.5% shooting in his three starts. With that in mind, Whitmore has an excellent chance of holding a routine role in the rotation. There's also reason to believe he could earn a spot in the starting lineup. Either way, Whitmore might be in line for his most productive fantasy season to date.

Cam Whitmore Sidelined On Monday

Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports that Houston Rockets guard/forward Cam Whitmore (illness) is suffering from an illness that will keep him out of Monday's matchup with the Boston Celtics. The second-year forward has seen inconsistent playing time this season, especially with Tari Eason back in the rotation, so he hasn't been a very valuable asset in many fantasy formats so far. With Whitmore out, Eason should see an increase in playing time and scoring opportunities. He's averaging 11.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game in five outings since returning from injury. Aaron Holiday could also take on extra minutes this evening.

Cam Whitmore Tagged As Questionable Against Celtics

Houston Rockets guard/forward Cam Whitmore (illness) is suffering from an illness and was given a questionable tag for their Monday night game against the Boston Celtics. The second-year wing out of Villanova has seen inconsistent minutes, especially with Tari Eason back in the lineup, so he hasn't been very valuable in a lot of fantasy formats so far. If he doesn't play, however, Eason should see an increase in opportunities off of the bench. He's averaging 11.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.6 steals per game in the five appearances since returning from injury.

Cam Whitmore Considered Questionable For Wednesday

Houston Rockets forward Cam Whitmore (knee) has picked up a questionable tag ahead of Wednesday's encounter with Indiana. Whitmore last played for Houston on Nov. 6 and has recently been limited to G League action. After he rejoined the Rockets, Whitmore missed Monday's game against Milwaukee with a sore left knee. The 20-year-old looked very promising over the final stretch of last season, but Whitmore has fallen in the pecking order in 2024-25 and likely won't play a big part on Wednesday, even if he is in the lineup.

Cam Whitmore Ruled Out With Knee Soreness

Houston Rockets forward Cam Whitmore (knee) is dealing with some soreness in his left knee and has been ruled out for the team's Monday night contest against the Milwaukee Bucks. The second-year wing hasn't appeared in a game since November 6 when he received around seven minutes against the San Antonio Spurs in a blowout. Once the team got healthier and added Reed Sheppard in the NBA Draft, Whitmore fell out of the rotation and remains off of the fantasy radar until injuries or a trade happens.
