Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson has a favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, in which he will attempt to record multiple sacks for the third straight game. The Panthers have allowed pressure on 28% of their passing plays, the sixth-highest rate, and the Lions have created pressure on 34% of pass rushes, tied for the seventh-highest rate. The Lions' pass rush has ramped it up in the past two weeks, as Hutchinson, Charles Harris, and Alim McNeill have combined for seven sacks. Hutchinson himself has recorded all 3.5 of his sacks in Weeks 3 and 4 and four of his seven QB hits. This week, he has a good shot to add to those numbers and is a quality start for IDP fantasy football.
Aidan Hutchinson Leads the NFL in Pressures After Thursday Night Football
Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson made two tackles and 1.5 sacks in the Lions' 34-20 win over the Packers on Thursday Night Football. According to PFF's unofficial statistics, the second-year standout made a total of eight pressures and two QB hits. That puts him at 27 total pressures on the season, an average of 6.8 per game, both of which lead the NFL. He had 19 pressures in the first three weeks, which is tied for the most of any defensive player who has played three games.
Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (ankle, illness) returned to practice on Wednesday. "I was hit hard a couple days ago," said Hutchinson, who has been out because of an ankle injury while also battling an illness. It's certainly a positive update, considering the 23-year-old finished his rookie campaign by logging 52 total tackles and an impressive 9.5 sacks. The Lions need him to stay healthy, especially since he's expected to be even more productive in 2023-24.
Aidan Hutchinson, Frank Ragnow Expected To Play Sunday
Detroit Lions pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson (thigh) and center Frank Ragnow (foot) are expected to be active for Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Both players had been listed as questionable. Hutchinson is coming off a fantastic performance in which he totaled three sacks and six tackles. Meanwhile, Ragnow remains a centerpiece of the Lions' offense, solidifying the protection of quarterback Jared Goff, running back D'Andre Swift (ankle), and others.
Detroit Lions rookie defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (thigh), who is officially listed as questionable for Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, said he's "feeling good" and expects to play on Sunday. Hutchinson missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before being limited on Friday. "I think come game time, I won't even be thinking about that," Hutchinson said. It's good news after top pass-rusher John Cominsky (hand) underwent surgery on Tuesday. He won't play against Minnesota. Hutchinson, the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, has already recorded three sacks, seven tackles (five solo), two tackles for loss and three QB hits in his first two NFL games.
Aidan Hutchinson "Fine" After Suffering Leg Injury
Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson declared he is "fine" after suffering a leg injury during Sunday's meeting with Washington. The 2022 No. 2 overall selection certainly had himself a day, finishing six total tackles (five solo). The 22-year-old also recorded three sacks, a team record for a rookie. After Hutchinson logged only one tackle in Week 1, he certainly turned things around in this one. IDP dynasty managers who have him stashed may want to consider calling him up, especially since he appears ready to contribute.
The Detroit Lions agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed deal for $35.7 million with a signing bonus of $23,153,372 with defensive end Aidan Hutchinson on Monday, according to agent Mike McCartney. The Lions were more than happy to take Hutchinson at No. 2 overall in this year's draft when the Jacksonville Jaguars passed on him at No. 1 overall. Hutchinson was an absolute beast off the left side at Michigan in college, and he should immediately help one of the worst pass-rushing units in the NFL. The 21-year-old pass-rusher recorded 14 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss in 14 games in his final collegiate season in 2021.
The Detroit Lions selected Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft on Thursday night. Hutchinson was always expected to go within the first couple of picks as one of the best overall players in this year's draft. He will stay close to home. The decorated pass-rusher is a terror on the field and broke Michigan's single-season sack record with 14 last year. His work ethic is off the charts and came into this draft as the most dominant defensive end without a question. Hutchinson embodies toughness and should remain prepared as he heads to the next level. His instincts against the run need to improve, but Detroit should be extremely happy that Hutchinson fell to them at second overall.
