Veteran free-agent cornerback Rock Ya-Sin has agreed to terms to sign with the Detroit Lions, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. The 2019 second-round pick out of Temple by the Indianapolis Colts is set to join his fifth organization after three seasons with Indy and one season a piece with the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers. Overall, the 28-year-old has compiled 199 tackles (166 solo), two interceptions, 31 pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 79 career games. He'll add depth to the Detroit secondary that continues to stack talent ahead of the 2025 campaign.
The San Francisco 49ers are bringing in cornerback Rock Ya-Sin on an undisclosed one-year deal, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The 27-year-old spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, posting 13 tackles and two pass deflections in 14 games. In five career seasons (66 games), the 2019 second-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts has totaled 196 tackles, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and 29 passes defended. He has not lived up to his draft capital, but he can be utilized as a depth corner in the talented 49ers defense.
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (knee) left Wednesday's practice early with a knee injury. An MRI revealed he did not suffer a tear in his knee, which is great news. The former second-round pick from 2019 is dealing with some pain and could be out for a while, but his knee is fine structurally. The 27-year-old has posted 27 pass deflections and two interceptions in his four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders and could be a key depth piece for Baltimore's defense this season.
Free-agent cornerback Rock Ya-Sin agreed to a one-year deal with the Ravens on Wednesday. The terms weren't disclosed, but he could earn up to $6 million. The 27-year-old appeared in 11 games for the Raiders in 2022-23, totaling 45 tackles and seven passes defensed. Unfortunately, his year ended prematurely after suffering a knee injury in Week 13. With the Ravens opting not to re-sign Marcus Peters, Ya-Sin is expected to start opposite Marlon Humphrey during the 2023-24 campaign. Baltimore allowed 232.2 passing yards per game last season, so the team hopes the addition will improve things in that area.
Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (knee) is not believed to have suffered a serious injury and is dealing with a knee strain, according to a source. However, both his and cornerback Nate Hobbs' (concussion) availability for the Week 4 game against the division-rival Denver Broncos is up in the air. If one or both of Ya-Sin and Hobbs are unable to play this Sunday, the Raiders secondary will be extra vulnerable against a Broncos offense that has really struggled through the first three weeks. Both Amik Robertson and Sam Webb could be looking at increased roles, which would be good news for Broncos receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.
The Indianapolis Colts Defense won't have defensive back Rock Ya-Sin for their Week 2 contest against the Vikings after he was ruled out at the last second with an illness. It doesn't appear that the illness is related to COVID-19. Ya-Sin was a key contributor in Week 1 for the Colts, playing 92 percent of defensive snaps and making three solo tackles. While not an elite corner, his absence still provides a boost to the offensive projection for the Minnesota Vikings's passing game.
