Jared Goff News
Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes said that quarterback Jared Goff remains the team's starter heading into the 2023 campaign. "We've had these open, transparent conversations. We're happy with Jared (Goff), he's our starter, but we need to add some pieces," Holmes said. The Lions could very well draft a quarterback in April, but Goff will enter the 2023 season as the unquestioned QB1 for Detroit, and rightfully so. The 28-year-old almost led the Lions to the playoffs in his first year with the team and finished 4,438 yards, 29 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in 17 starts. The Lions have some nice receiving weapons for Goff, which makes him a decent QB streamer in the right matchups.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 23 of his 34 passing attempts for 224 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions in the Week 18 win over the Green Bay Packers. Obviously, he didn't play off as a fantasy asset in the final week of the season, but he may have earned himself the starting quarterback for the Lions in 2023. It will be interesting to see what the Lions will do with their early first-round pick via the Los Angeles Rams, but Goff has a chance to be a part of the team's future after a great season. Goff finishes the year with 4,438 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. The Lions will bring back almost all of their key offensive weapons, so Goff could be in for another big year.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been a surprising fantasy breakout player this season, but he'll face a tough test at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. Green Bay has allowed the 12th-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season and when the teams met earlier this season, Goff passed for a season-low 137 yards. Goff will still be a DFS consideration based on his 2022 body of work, but there's a real risk for a letdown in this spot. If the Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams before this game kicks off, Detroit will already be eliminated from playoff contention, so there's also a risk the motivation could be lacking for this one.
