Jared Goff News

Jared Goff Being Given More Ownership Of Offense

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is going to be given more ownership of the offense in his fifth year in the league, though it's unclear what that will actually look like. Goff's performance has been more impacted by the quality of his offensive line than his responsibility level in the past. In 2017 and 2018, Goff excelled when he was stationed behind top-10 offensive lines, and he struggled to open the 2019 season when LA's offensive line was in flux. When it settled and improved in December of last year, so did Goff. If he can be given an above-average offensive line once again, Goff will likely see more success.

Jared Goff Gets Help Over The Middle

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is facing a big year in 2020, but the team will be trying to help him out in his quest to get back to a higher level. Goff caught a lot of flak in 2019 when his TD/INT ratio dropped from 32/12 in 2018 to 22/16 in 2019. His passer rating fell nearly 15 points from where it had been for the previous two years, and to further complicate matters, he lost Todd Gurley and Brandin Cooks over the offseason. LA has armed him with some shorter-range tools though. The Rams added running back Cam Akers, Van Jefferson, and a pair of tight ends that should help give Goff more intermediate-depth receivers as opposed to home run hitters like Cooks. They're showing a commitment to working with Goff, and hopefully, this change in approach can help Goff get his numbers back up to where they can be.

Jared Goff's Contract Has Been Restructured

The Los Angeles Rams saved approximately $7 million off the salary cap on Friday by successfully restructuring quarterbackJared Goff's contract. The move was considered a given throughout the offseason, though the timing was a little surprising since the team allowed Goff's massive $21 million roster bonus to credit before completing the move. The savings will free up enough to take care of the free-agent signings of Leonard Floyd and A'Shawn Robinson for now, but LA is still riding close to the cap. They may have to work on restructuring star defensive lineman Aaron Donald's contract to create more space in the near future. After losing running back Todd Gurley and regressing in 2019, Goff will be a midrange QB2 fantasy target in fall drafts.
