Jared Goff News

Jared Goff Has A Great Matchup In Week 1

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff regressed last season, along with the rest of the roster, but he is presented with a great matchup in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys lost starting cornerback Byron Jones this offseason, and their safety room saw no improvements. They'll be forced to throw the ball in Week 1 to keep up with the high-octane Dallas offense. The team subtracted wideout Brandin Cooks this offseason, but the rest of his weapons remain intact. Due to that volume, he's got a good shot at finishing as a QB1 at the end of the week.

Jared Goff Should Be A Solid QB2 In 2020

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff threw for 4,638 yards, 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 2019. It was a disappointing output after a breakout 2018 campaign in which he compiled 4,688 yards, 32 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions. This year, Goff will be without running back Todd Gurley for the first time in his career. Goff also won't have the dynamic Brandin Cooks at his disposal. Gurley's departure could help Goff as it should require him to throw the ball more and give him additional touchdown opportunities. However, the main allure with Goff is the fact that he has the innovative offensive mind of Sean McVay working for him. Draft Goff as your second quarterback in two-QB leagues and he should provide solid returns.

Jared Goff Being Given More Ownership Of Offense

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is going to be given more ownership of the offense in his fifth year in the league, though it's unclear what that will actually look like. Goff's performance has been more impacted by the quality of his offensive line than his responsibility level in the past. In 2017 and 2018, Goff excelled when he was stationed behind top-10 offensive lines, and he struggled to open the 2019 season when LA's offensive line was in flux. When it settled and improved in December of last year, so did Goff. If he can be given an above-average offensive line once again, Goff will likely see more success.
