Dan Campbell High on Second-Year Wideout Isaac TeSlaa

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell was very complimentary of second-year wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa and where he's heading going into Year 2 in 2026, according to Tim Twentyman of the team's official website. The head coach said that TeSlaa has looked "like a consistent veteran this offseason" and is excited about where he's headed. The 24-year-old was selected with the 70th overall pick (third round) last year out of the University of Arkansas. In his first NFL season, TeSlaa had 16 catches for 239 yards and six touchdowns on 27 targets over 17 games played (three starts). Detroit added veteran wideouts Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Greg Dortch in free agency this offseason, but TeSlaa should have an elevated role for the Lions in Year 2 as the WR3 behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. The 6-foot-4, 214-pounder isn't an athletic freak by any means, but he proved to have a nose for the end zone in 2025. Volume could be an issue again, making TeSlaa a late-round target in fantasy football drafts this fall with upside if the Lions give him more responsibilities outside the red zone.

How Will Isaac TeSlaa Follow Up on a Strong 2025 Finish?

Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa had a relatively quiet rookie season, propped up by an unreal 23% of his targets resulting in touchdowns. While he did turn himself into a steady contributor by year's end, making at least two catches in four of his final six games, that stretch only occurred after tight end Sam LaPorta was placed on injured reserve with a herniated disc in his back. With LaPorta healthy and participating in organized team activities, there's a chance TeSlaa is pushed outside the margins of fantasy relevance in a new-look Lions offense. Only two current playcallers ran a higher percentage of plays out of multi-tight end sets than new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing did with the Cardinals last year, which could spell trouble for a receiver who already failed to reach a 60% snap share in 13 of 17 games as a rookie. An older prospect coming into the league, TeSlaa is now 24 and RotoBaller's dynasty WR87, but unless he can find a way to sustain his seemingly unsustainable touchdown rate from 2025, even that could prove to be too high a ranking.

Can Isaac TeSlaa Carve Out a Larger Role in Detroit Going Forward?

A third-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa had one of the stranger rookie seasons of any pass-catcher in recent memory. While TeSlaa only recorded 16 catches on 27 targets across 17 games, he made the most of his opportunities by racking up 239 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The 24-year-old flashed high-end upside as a contested-catch expert on downfield throws and in the red zone, but he also failed to prove he can consistently separate from defenders in the short and intermediate areas of the field. TeSlaa's target upside in Detroit is limited as long as wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams are healthy. Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (back) is also expected to return from the back injury that caused him to miss the final eight games of 2025, which hurts TeSlaa's outlook as well. TeSlaa's upside makes him worth stashing in deeper dynasty leagues, but his path to a fantasy-relevant role in Detroit remains unclear as he enters his second NFL season.

Isaac TeSlaa Still a Dynasty Depth Piece Worth Holding

Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa put himself onto fantasy radars by scoring six touchdowns on only 16 receptions as a rookie, and while that rate is wholly unsustainable, he offers a different archetype to the Lions' receiver room and should see continued scoring opportunities in his second season. Over 38% of TeSlaa's targets came within the 20-yard line in 2025, and while some of that was a byproduct of tight end Sam LaPorta missing eight games, at 6'4" and 217 pounds with a verified 39.5" vertical, the 2025 third-round pick offers an enormous mismatch over smaller DBs and could continue to carve out a role as a jump ball specialist. While touchdowns alone will never match the fantasy predictability of sheer volume, TeSlaa's opportunities will be foreseeably capped in an offense with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and a healthy LaPorta, but if he can continue to convert targets into touchdowns at an above-average rate, he'll have his usable moments and is worth a dynasty stash as RotoBaller's WR86.

Isaac TeSlaa Unlikely to Repeat Touchdown Efficiency

As a rookie in 2025, Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa caught six touchdowns on only 26 targets and 16 receptions, a touchdown rate almost 10 times higher than the league average, and nearly double that of Davante Adams, who led the NFL with 14 touchdown grabs. While few are calling for a repeat of such outlandish efficiency in year two, some have labeled him as a potential breakout candidate on the hopes that increased volume could make him a less touchdown-reliant fantasy asset. However, TeSlaa has never been a target-earner. His 14% target share across two seasons at Arkansas ranked well behind several of his own teammates, and even with the Lions, he was regularly on the field for more than just gadget plays designed to find him in the end zone. His 296 routes run last season put him in the top 10 in his rookie class, while his 0.81 yards per route run trailed only Arian Smith, Konata Mumpfield, Dont'e Thornton Jr., and Gage Larvadain among rookies with at least 100 routes run. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Sam LaPorta all figure to slot in ahead of TeSlaa in the target pecking order, and unless he can bank on a second outlier season, he will likely be little more than an occasional injury replacement in 2026.

Isaac TeSlaa a Prime Candidate for More Volume

Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa took a little while to get going during his rookie season in 2025, but a strong finish to the year should provide dynasty managers with plenty of optimism going forward. TeSlaa recorded the bulk of his production over the final six weeks of the season, during which he caught 12 of his 18 targets for 174 yards and four touchdowns. Throughout that span, he ranked as the overall WR29 in PPR leagues. He's still stuck behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams on the depth chart for 2026, but the state of the Lions' offense suggests they could support fantasy-relevant production from their No. 3 receiver here and there. Plus, he'd instantly rank as a strong fantasy WR3 or flex if St. Brown or Williams were to get hurt. Year 2 is a common time for wide receivers to break out, and the stars appear to be aligning for TeSlaa to take a major step forward in 2026. Dynasty managers could look into trading for TeSlaa in dynasty leagues, but he seems to be accurately priced at the moment, so you'll likely end up paying full price for him. That's still a reasonable move to make, given the upside he possesses going forward.

Isaac TeSlaa Trending Up After Late Emergence?

Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa got off to a slow start in 2025, but he seemed to turn a corner near the end of the regular season. Over the final three weeks of the season, he caught eight of 12 targets for 119 yards and two touchdowns, ranking as the overall WR17 in half-PPR leagues during that span. It was an encouraging end to his rookie campaign, and while anything could happen during the upcoming offseason, it seems like he's trending toward being the Lions' established No. 3 receiver in 2026. If TeSlaa remains the third receiver behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, he could have occasional WR3/flex appeal while also being an appealing injury handcuff. Managers in dynasty leagues should hold TeSlaa for now, but there could be an opportunity to buy low before free agency gets underway.

Isaac TeSlaa on Historical Pace in the Red Zone

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa hauled in three of four targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in the 23-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Despite the Lions' recent offensive struggles, TeSlaa has played well, totaling three catches for 45+ yards and a touchdown in back-to-back weeks. He is on a historic pace for red-zone efficiency, scoring a touchdown on 40% of his receptions this season, all inside the 20-yard line. He faces a Chicago Bears secondary in Week 18 that has allowed the second-most touchdowns to wide receivers this season, making this a potential smash spot for TeSlaa. While his usage and other metrics underwhelm, the rookie receiver continues to add value to his fantasy profile by scoring touchdowns.

Isaac TeSlaa a Touchdown Threat Again in Week 18

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa has caught touchdowns in four of his last five games, and he needs to be rostered in any leagues with a Week 18 fantasy championship. With the Lions now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention and Amon-Ra St. Brown seemingly banged up late in the team's Christmas Day loss to the Vikings, TeSlaa should see additional run against a Bears defense that just allowed almost 500 yards in a Monday Night loss to the 49ers. On the season, Chicago has been the fourth most favorable fantasy matchup for opposing wide receivers, and with TeSlaa currently rostered in less than a quarter of redraft leagues, he is one of the first names fantasy managers should be checking the waiver wire for ahead of any meaningful Week 18 games.

Isaac TeSlaa Poised to Build On Recent Emergence in Week 17?

Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa posted his best performance of the season in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording four catches for 52 yards and a touchdown on seven targets. Although the 23-year-old has hauled in just 12 receptions across 15 games this season, five of them have gone for touchdowns. TeSlaa has seen his playing time spike in recent weeks, as he's played at least 40 offensive snaps in four straight games after failing to play more than 28 snaps in any of Detroit's first 11 contests. He may have an even greater role in his team's offense in Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings, as star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) is questionable to play due to a knee injury. However, Minnesota enters the week ranked second in the NFL in total passing yards allowed (2,790) and tied for second in passing touchdowns allowed (14). In his first matchup of the season against the Vikings in Week 9, TeSlaa did not record a catch or earn a target. If St. Brown is active, TeSlaa should likely be avoided by fantasy managers in Week 17.
