Brian O'Neill Week-to-Week With MCL Sprain

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell announced on Tuesday that offensive tackle Brian O'Neill (knee) suffered an MCL sprain in the Week 4 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Ireland on Sunday and will be week-to-week, per the team. While O'Neill could miss some time, he will not be placed on Injured Reserve. Meanwhile, outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (neck) will not practice this week, meaning he probably won't play in Week 5 in London against the Cleveland Browns. O'Neill injured his knee in the first quarter in Dublin on Sunday and never returned. The 30-year-old will most likely sit out in Week 5 against a strong Browns defensive front, which could spell trouble for backup quarterback Carson Wentz if J.J. McCarthy (ankle) misses a third straight game. Justin Skule is the likely replacement at right tackle for the Vikes for however long O'Neill is out.

Brian O'Neill Won't Return Against Steelers

Minnesota Vikings right tackle Brian O'Neill (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's Week 4 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had initially been listed as questionable after exiting during the first quarter, but around halftime, the team downgraded him to out. The 30-year-old, who played 92.6 percent of the offensive snaps through the first three weeks, suffered the injury while blocking on a field-goal attempt. Justin Skule has taken over at right tackle with O'Neill sidelined.

Brian O'Neill Placed On Injured Reserve

Minnesota Vikings standout offensive tackle Brian O'Neill (Achilles) was placed on the Injured Reserve on Tuesday after suffering a partially torn Achilles last week, according to sources. He will miss the rest of the season, including playoffs, and is on the road to recovery. It's a big loss for the Vikings offensive line as they wrap up the regular season this weekend and get ready for the playoffs. As of right now, they are the No. 3 seed in the NFC. If they stay there, they'll be hosting the New York Giants in the first round of the postseason. With O'Neill out the rest of the way, the Vikings will be hoping that Oli Udoh can hold down the fort as the starting right tackle.
