Isaiah Rodgers A Front-Runner To Start

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers is an early front-runner to start across from Byron Murphy Jr. in 2025, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. Rodgers appeared in 15 games in 2024 for the Philadelphia Eagles but took only 36 percent of their defensive snaps. Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores took a liking to Rodgers early in free-agent evaluations this offseason. The Vikings haven't rewarded Rodgers with a starting job just yet, but head coach Kevin O'Connell said he sees him as an "every-down impact guy" who could also contribute in the return game on special teams. The 27-year-old was a sixth-round pick (211th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 out of Massachusetts. He played the first three years of his NFL career in Indy before being suspended for all of 2023 due to a violation of the league's gambling policy. Rodgers inked a two-year, $15 million deal with Minnesota this offseason.

Vikings Signing Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with former Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov. The 27-year-old is expected to sign a two-year, $15 million deal when the new league year begins on March 12. Rodgers was suspended by the NFL for violating the league's policy on gambling in 2023 and missed the entire season. He was released by the Colts following the punishment handed down by the NFL. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles last year and played in 15 games (three starts). Overall, the UMass product has totaled 116 tackles, three interceptions, and 14 pass deflections in 45 career games. He'll now play under top NFL defensive coordinator Brian Flores in Minnesota.

Isaiah Rodgers Sr. Performing Well After Year-Long Absence

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. missed the entire 2023 season after being suspended for violating the NFL's gambling policy. However, ESPN reporter Tim McManus said Rodgers has been impressive this offseason, and he's been splitting first-team reps with second-year cornerback Kelee Ringo. He's been making plays against the Eagles' strong first-team offense and is viewed as a surprise standout for the organization. "For a guy that has not played football for a year, coming back, he looks like he has been playing nonstop," All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown said. "He's flying around, and he's going to do special stuff for us this year." Rodgers spent the first three seasons of his career with the Indianapolis Colts and racked up 90 tackles, three interceptions, and 10 pass deflections in his first 45 games. Philadelphia allowed the third-most passing yards per game last season (255.7), so any boost they can get from Rodgers would be significant.

Isaiah Rodgers Sr. Reinstated From Gambling Suspension

The NFL reinstated Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. from his year-long suspension on Tuesday for violating the league's policy on gambling. Rodgers was with the Indianapolis Colts when he was suspended on June 29 but was released by the team later that day and signed with the Eagles in August. Rodgers said bets were made from his account for people who lived in Florida, where online sports betting at that time remained illegal. At the time of his suspension, Rodgers had placed more than 100 bets, including some on Colts' games. In his three seasons in Indy, Rodgers had three interceptions and 10 passes defensed while also playing on special teams as a kick and punt returner. The Eagles are hoping he can provide them with some secondary depth after their defense last year was highly disappointing.

Isaiah Rodgers Sr., Rashod Berry Waived After Suspensions

The Indianapolis Colts waived cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. and defensive end Rashod Berry on Thursday after it was announced that they have been suspended indefinitely by the league through at least the 2023 season for betting on NFL games last season. Free-agent defensive tackle Demetrius Taylor has also been suspended. It's bad timing for Rodgers, who was expected to take over as a starter in Indy's secondary this year. It's quite possible that we don't see any of these three players back in the league after their year-long suspensions. Rodgers was a sixth-round pick out of Massachusetts in 2020 and mostly served on special teams for the Colts, returning 61 kickoffs for 1,645 yards and a touchdown in three seasons.

Isaiah Rodgers Expected To Receive Season-Long Suspension

A handful of NFL players, including Indianapolis Colts cornerback and kick returner Isaiah Rodgers, are expected to receive season-long suspensions this week for allegedly gambling, according to sources. The NFL is really cracking down on their policies on sports gambling this offseason, and Rodgers and others aren't expected to play at all in 2023 because of it. The 25-year-old injured his knee last December and finished his third NFL season with 18 kickoff returns for 452 yards in 15 games (nine starts). On defense, he had 34 tackles (24 solo), three passes defensed, a forced fumble and four fumble recoveries.

Isaiah Rodgers Sr. Being Investigated For Gambling

Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr. is under investigation for possible violations of the league's gambling policy, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Rodgers was drafted by the Colts in the sixth round (211th overall) in 2020 out of Massachusetts. The 25-year-old has played 1,500-plus snaps in three NFL seasons and started nine games last year for the Colts. He has returned 71 punt/kickoff returns in the last three years, as well as recording 90 tackles (68 solo), three interceptions, 10 passes defensed, a forced fumble and four fumble recoveries. If Rodgers is found guilty of gambling, he could be suspended for up to the entire 2023 campaign.

Isaiah Rodgers Must Stand Out On Special Teams

Indianapolis Colts rookie cornerback Isaiah Rodgers must become a special teams contributor as a gunner and/or return man if he wants to make the team this year. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder should get a look as a backup for the nickel spot on defense, but veteran T.J. Carrie could also be a fit there. The Colts don't have an overwhelming need for another cornerback at the moment, which is why Rodgers must stand out on special teams in order to make the final roster this summer.

Isaiah Rodgers Joins Colts Crowded Secondary

The Indianapolis Colts have selected Massachusetts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers with the No. 211 pick during the sixth round. He has quick feet and solid ball skills, but needs to make improvements in other areas. He finished with 42 tackles, three tackles for loss and four interceptions during 12 games in 2019. This seems like a developmental type of project for Indy. Rodgers is not expected to see much time in the defensive backfield during the 2020 season.
