The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed defensive back James Pierre to an undisclosed contract. Pierre will enter his sixth season with the team after initially signing with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. In 2024, he ranked fifth amongst Steel City's cornerbacks in snaps (207), notching 12 tackles, two fumbles forced, and one interception in 15 appearances. However, he was also an asset on special teams, registering 55.8% of snaps in that phase of the game. Pittsburgh lost a few defensive backs in free agency, so the 28-year-old may garner more playing time at his position than in years past. Still, he's unlikely to make an impact in fantasy as a depth/rotational piece for the organization.

The Washington Commanders announced on Thursday that they have signed free-agent cornerback James Pierre to an undisclosed deal. Pierre entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2020 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and spent the last four seasons in the Steel City. The 27-year-old defensive back has a total of 94 tackles (71 solo), two interceptions, eight passes defended, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 66 total games (two starts) for the Steelers. Pierre has mostly contributed on special teams so far in his NFL career and will likely continue to do the same as he moves to D.C. and the NFC in 2024.

Pierre will now return for his fourth year in Pittsburgh. After entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020, the 26-year-old defensive back has recorded 86 tackles (65 solo), two interceptions, eight passes defensed, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 50 games played (six starts). Pierre will continue to provide depth for the Steelers secondary while also contributing on special teams in 2023.
