Cade Otton Out With Undisclosed Injury on Tuesday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton (undisclosed) is out of training camp practice again on Tuesday with an undisclosed injury, according to Greg Auman of FOX Sports. Auman does not think that Otton will be cleared to play with the rest of the starters in the second preseason game this Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now. Otton caught a career-high-tying 59 passes on 81 targets for 572 yards and just one touchdown in 16 starts for the Bucs in 2025 in his fourth year in the NFL. The former fourth-rounder from the University of Washington could see a larger target share in 2026 if receiver Emeka Egbuka (toe) is not ready for the start of the regular season, although Otton still profiles as more of a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE2 in fantasy football leagues. Otton's career year came in 2024, when he caught 59 passes for 600 yards and four touchdowns on 87 targets to finish as the TE11 in half-PPR formats. There might be more opportunities for spike weeks this year, though, with future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans no longer in town.

Cade Otton "Shows Out" in Joint Practice

In a joint practice with the Jets on Wednesday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton had one of his most productive days of the summer, cluing in onlookers to the role he can serve in this Zac Robinson offense. Buccaneers staff writer Brianna Dix praised Otton for the presence he brings to all three levels of the field and his ability to uncover through savvy route-running and strong spatial understanding. Otton has never boasted the highest ceiling for fantasy, and even with the team's receiving core struck by injury in 2025, he caught only one touchdown in 16 games, but he provides enough of a weekly floor to keep him in the streaming conversation, having caught exactly 59 passes in each of the past two seasons. Otton is RotoBaller's TE28 and profiles as a no-frills TE2 in deeper leagues or a player who will likely provide viability off the waiver wire as injuries and bye weeks start piling up.

Cade Otton Could Become Underneath Threat in New Bucs Offense

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton had a nice one-handed touchdown catch from quarterback Baker Mayfield during a red-zone period in training camp practice on Friday, according to Brianna Dix of Buccaneers.com. Otton has an elite catch radius and is a QB-friendly target for the veteran Mayfield, and Dix notes that Otton became a threat underneath on Friday for new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Despite injuries to Tampa's receiving corps last year, the 27-year-old Otton failed to take advantage. The former fourth-rounder from the University of Washington did match his career high of 59 receptions, but he produced 572 yards and only one touchdown catch on 81 targets through 16 regular-season games in his fourth year in the NFL. Future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans is gone, but the Bucs still have a capable trio of receivers in Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr., and Jalen McMillan, leaving Otton as the No. 4 option for Mayfield. Robinson's new offense could involve Otton more, but for now, he profiles best in fantasy as a touchdown-dependent TE2 streamer.

Cade Otton's Stable Role Keeps Him on the Deep-League Radar

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton did not offer much weekly fantasy help in 2025, but his role was never in question. He started all 16 games he played and caught 59 of 81 targets for 572 yards, matching his 2024 reception total. The difference was touchdowns, falling from four to one. Otton also played 993 offensive snaps, an 87.6% share, and Tampa Bay brought him back on a three-year contract. The Bucs still view him as the lead tight end, but that does not guarantee more fantasy volume. Payne Durham remains a strong blocker, sixth-round rookie Bauer Sharp brings receiving ability, and tight ends coach Justin Peelle has discussed trimming Otton's snap load to keep him fresh. Tampa Bay also has plenty of wide receivers and backs competing for targets. RotoBaller ranks Otton as the TE29 for redraft. He is not a breakout bet or a weekly starter in standard leagues. In deeper formats, though, back-to-back 59-catch seasons and a secure role make him a reasonable late option when managers wait at tight end.

Cade Otton Remains a Streaming Option in 2026

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has been a model of consistency over the past two seasons, making exactly 59 catches in both 2024 and 2025 and finishing right around 600 receiving yards in each year. Unfortunately, a lack of red zone usage has prevented him from ever finishing as a top-12 fantasy tight end, having never topped four scores in a season and finishing his most recent campaign with only one touchdown catch. While the Buccaneers' most prolific touchdown-scorer of all time, Mike Evans, was allowed to depart in free agency, Tampa still boasts a deep receiver room, topped by Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr., and Jalen McMillan. Even if Otton should find more involvement near the end zone, his floor could be significantly lowered if the team's top pass catchers are all able to stay healthy, something they were unable to accomplish a season ago. Still a worthwhile depth piece in dynasty leagues, Otton is RotoBaller's TE29 for 2026 and figures to factor as little more than a streaming option to help navigate through injuries and bye weeks.

Cade Otton Carries Modest Dynasty Buy-Low Appeal into 2026

Across 16 games in 2025, Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton recorded 59 catches for 572 yards and a touchdown on 81 targets. The 27-year-old's production was a bit disappointing considering that Tampa Bay spent significant portions of the season without top wideouts Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jr. However, Otton may have a second chance to establish a more consistent role in the Bucs' passing game in 2026. Evans departed Tampa Bay in free agency, and the Buccaneers did not bring in any significant competition for Otton at the tight end position outside of sixth-round rookie Bauer Sharp. Otton may not offer significant upside for dynasty managers, but he's averaged a little over 8.0 PPR points per game over the past two seasons. As a depth option, Otton is worth rostering in deeper dynasty leagues.

Cade Otton Continues to Offer Depth in Dynasty Leagues

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton is not a flashy name in fantasy football, but his consistency and starting role have allowed him to stay on the fantasy radar as a decent depth piece. Otton has caught 59 passes in each of his last two seasons, operating as the No. 1 tight end in this Baker Mayfield-led offense. His touchdown total dropped to one last year, and as a result, his fantasy finish slipped to TE22 overall. Still, he has been a top-26 fantasy tight end in each of his five NFL seasons, and he offers low-end TE1 appeal when the Bucs' receivers miss time due to injury. For example, in the four games where both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jr. were injured last year, Otton averaged 5.0 catches and 50.3 receiving yards. Evans departed in free agency this year, but the Bucs still have a crowded receiver room, so we can't project Otton for a top-20 finish. Still, he's an extremely solid depth option in all fantasy leagues, including dynasty formats.

Cade Otton Remains a Quality Dynasty Depth Piece

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has caught exactly 59 passes in each of the past two seasons while averaging 586 receiving yards. His 11 total touchdowns across his four professional seasons point to a ceiling incapable of winning leagues, but he has long provided an underrated floor. With the Buccaneers' relatively quiet offseason already leading into organized team activities, Otton should continue to provide quality depth as a second or third tight end in dynasty leagues. The Buccaneers were a team commonly linked to Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq throughout the pre-draft process, but with Rueben Bain Jr. falling to them in the first, Tampa did not make any offensive selections until receiver Ted Hurst in the third. Hurst and free agent running back Kenneth Gainwell will help to soften the blow of losing Mike Evans and his average receiving line of 72 catches for 1,088 yards and nine touchdowns from the past 12 seasons, but in a tight end room with only Payne Durham, Ko Kieft, and sixth-round rookie Bauer Sharp, Otton's role could also expand. His rapport with Baker Mayfield makes him a natural candidate to inherit some of Evans' vacated targets, and at RotoBaller's dynasty TE32, Otton is perennially underrated as a depth piece who can be trusted to get contending managers through the inevitable stretch of injuries and bye weeks that pop up every season.

Cade Otton Could be at Risk on Day 1 of NFL Draft

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has been a reliable NFL producer who has made the occasional blip on the fantasy radar, most notably when a handful of high-volume games allowed him to land as the TE13 in 2024. While it's unlikely that many dynasty managers are rostering Otton as their TE1, he's been a fine depth piece to have for the occasional bye week or injury spot start. However, with Tampa picking at number 15 in the upcoming NFL Draft, the team has frequently been linked to Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq, an athletic marvel whose presence on the roster could push Otton toward fantasy irrelevancy. Even if the Buccaneers elect to go in another direction on Night 1, this is a deep tight end class with a number of prospects capable of creating at least a messy timeshare. While praising the group he already has in-house, general manager Jason Licht recently told reporters, "It would be great to add a tight end to the roster who brings an element that some of the others don't." Otton is currently RotoBaller's TE30 in dynasty rankings.

Cade Otton Quietly Due for a Bigger Workload?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton hasn't been a very popular name in dynasty fantasy football leagues this offseason, but managers should consider acquiring the 26-year-old given the Bucs' moves so far. Most notably, the Buccaneers allowed wide receiver Mike Evans to depart in free agency. He leaves behind a modest 61 targets from 2025, but he's just a few years removed from his 136-target campaign in 2023. Historically, Otton has thrived when Evans isn't on the field. In the 11 games where Evans was sidelined due to injury last year, Otton averaged 5.4 targets, 3.9 catches, and 36.8 yards per contest. The biggest red flag for Otton was that he didn't score a touchdown while Evans was sidelined; in fact, he didn't get into the end zone until Week 18. We expect him to have some positive touchdown regression, though, and he has legitimate top-15 upside with Evans out of town. Dynasty managers in need of a potential low-end TE1 or high-end TE2 should send out trade offers for Otton, because he can be acquired at a reasonable price this offseason.
