Buccaneers Activate Luke Goedeke From Injured Reserve

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Luke Goedeke (foot) is being activated from injured reserve and will play on Sunday against the New England Patriots, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Goedeke has missed Tampa Bay's last six games due to the foot injury suffered in Week 2 against the Houston Texans. The 26-year-old has his 21-day practice window opened on Monday, and after being limited in practice on Thursday and Friday, Goedeke was upgraded to full participation on Friday. The Bucs' starting right tackle agreed to a four-year contract extension before the start of the regular season and has been a steady piece of their offensive line for years, starting 40 games since entering the league as a second-round pick in 2022. His return is great news for the Bucs, who have been dealing with multiple injuries all over the roster, but the offensive line is getting healthy at the right time.

Buccaneers Agree to Four-Year Extension With Luke Goedeke

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and right tackle Luke Goedeke reached an agreement on a four-year, $90 million extension on Tuesday that includes $50 million guaranteed, sources tell Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The Buccaneers got something done to keep their ascending right tackle around for years to come. The 26-year-old offensive lineman was taken in the second round (57th overall) in the 2022 NFL draft out of Central Michigan, and he has started 38 of the 41 games that he has appeared in for the Bucs in the last three years. Goedeke missed four games last year with a concussion but is fully healthy now and will be the starting right tackle for Tampa going into Week 1 of the regular season versus the division-rival Atlanta Falcons.

Luke Goedeke The Favorite To Start At Right Tackle

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Luke Goedeke, who struggled at left guard in his rookie season in 2022, is the front-runner to start at right tackle in 2023 with Tristan Wirfs moving to left tackle. Brandon Walton and Matt Feiler will be competing with Goedeke in training camp this summer. Tampa sees second-round pick Cody Mauch as a guard, even though he played tackle at North Dakota State. "We saw Luke play right tackle in an NFL game, we saw Luke play right tackle in Baton Rouge against some really good edge rushers in college. Am I betting my house that he's going to be great at it? I wouldn't bet my house on anything, probably -- but I know he'll go out there and compete," vice president of player personnel John Spytek said.
