Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive lineman Justin Skule is signing with the Minnesota Vikings. The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. The veteran tackle was a sixth-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2019 and spent his first two seasons with the team, appearing in 12 games (four starts). Skule suffered an ACL injury in 2021 and was eventually released by the 49ers during the 2022 preseason, landing on the Buccaneers' practice squad. The Vanderbilt alum played in just one game that year for Tampa Bay but would appear in each of the Bucs' games over the prior two seasons, including five starts. Minnesota continues to retool its offensive line, and Skule will likely serve as a depth piece behind incumbent starters Christian Darrisaw and Brian O'Neill.
Justin Skule, Tarvarius Moore Suffer Season-Ending Injuries
San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Justin Skule (knee) tore his ACL during Monday's practice, while safety Tarvarius Moore (Achilles) tore his Achilles during the same practice. Neither Skule nor Moore have been established starters for the team, but they both played prominent roles in recent seasons. Skule played 31 regular season games in the last two years, with 12 starts at tackle and guard. He was slated to compete with Shon Coleman for the swing tackle job in training camp. Moore had appeared in all 48 regular season games (13 starts) in the last three years, recording 49 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2020. He was expected to compete for the starting gig at strong safety before his injury.
