The Detroit Lions re-signed defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday, according to agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. Muhammad will return to the Motor City in 2025 to serve as a rotational defensive lineman once again, so he won't be worth a look at all in IDP fantasy formats. Last year in nine regular-season games (two starts), he produced just 11 tackles (eight solo), three sacks and five QB hits. The 29-year-old pass-rusher from the University of Miami (FL) entered the NFL in 2017 as a sixth-round pick (196th overall) by the New Orleans Saints. Muhammad spent just one year with the Saints before spending 2018-21 with the Indianapolis Colts. He has only 15 total sacks in his 93 games played (36 starts) over seven NFL seasons.
The Dallas Cowboys have signed defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad on Thursday. This comes days after defensive end Sam Williams (knee) tore his ACL. The Cowboys are in need of another pass rusher with Williams done for the season. Muhammad is a six-year veteran with 12 total sacks over his career. His best season of his career came with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021. This looks to be a depth signing as Muhammad isn't even a lock to make the 53-man roster.
Free-agent defensive lineman Al-Quadin Muhammad, who has started in recent seasons for the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, has a visit scheduled with the New York Jets on Friday. Muhammad was released by the Bears in February after recording 29 tackles (15 solo) and one sack in 16 games (nine starts) for the Bears last season in a rotational role on the defensive line. The 28-year-old pass-rusher had a career-high six sacks in 17 starts with the Colts the previous season, and he's had just 12 sacks in his six NFL seasons. Muhammad was originally a sixth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2017 out of Miami, but he lasted just one year in the Big Easy before joining the Colts for four years.
The Chicago Bears released defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad on Friday, according to a source. The move comes after Muhammad had a tough season in his first year in Chicago. He played in 16 games and made nine starts, recording 29 tackles (15 solo), three QB hits, one sack and a forced fumble in 2022 while playing in a timeshare with Trevis Gibson. The 27-year-old had one year left on his contract, but he'll now get a head start on free agency this offseason. In his six NFL seasons, Muhammad has 157 tackles (103 solo), 23 tackles for loss, 33 QB hits, 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 84 games played (34 starts).
Former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Chicago Bears on Friday, according to a source. Muhammad will reunite with head coach Matt Eberflus. The 26-year-old pass-rusher spent his last two seasons in Indianapolis, where he had 51 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss, 19 QB hits, eight sacks and two forced fumbles in 33 games (17 starts). Muhammad hasn't missed a single game in the last three seasons. He's expected to compete for snaps at defensive end with Trevis Gipson in Chicago. Muhammad was a sixth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2017 out of Miami, and he played just one season for the Saints before joining the Colts in 2018.
