Shedeur Sanders Carries Some Fantasy Appeal in Deeper Formats

Cleveland Browns second-year quarterback out of Colorado, Shedeur Sanders, enters the 2026 season in a quarterback competition with Deshaun Watson, who missed the entire 2025 season while recovering from a re-ruptured right Achilles. Sanders played in eight games in 2025 and threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, and rushed for 169 yards and one touchdown. While he does provide some fantasy appeal with his rushing upside and big-play ability, it remains to be seen if he will have that opportunity. Watson hasn't performed at a high level since 2020, but he is still 30 years old and likely has a fast track to be the starter for the Browns over Sanders. Sanders was extremely inefficient in 2025, ranking 30th in yards per attempt, 38th in true passer rating, and 38th in adjusted yards per attempt. Sanders offers some dynasty appeal given his age, and in superflex formats, he could be used as a bench spot if he wins the starting job. RotoBaller ranks Sanders as the QB34 entering the season.

With head coach Liam Coen and quarterback Trevor Lawrence hoping to build on a strong first season together, Little hopes for more opportunities in 2026.

Andrei Iosivas Not on the Fantasy Radar in Any Draft Formats

Cincinnati Bengals 26-year-old wide receiver Andrei Iosivas enters his fourth NFL season as the projected No. 3 receiver in this lethal Bengals passing attack. Over his first three seasons with the Bengals, he has earned 144 targets, hauled in 84 of them for 1,030 yards, and 12 touchdowns. Over a three-year span, that is nothing to write home about, and he is clearly an afterthought when you are behind guys like Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase. 2025 was his lowest touchdown production since entering the league, with only two, after he had six in 2024 and four in 2023. The only real path for Iosivas to be fantasy relevant is if one of those receivers were to get hurt, and even then, he would be viewed as a low-end WR3 at best. RotoBaller currently ranks him as the WR90, and that's after he finished the 2025 season as the WR58.

The second-year pro, who missed the entire 2025 season with a hand injury, made his NFL debut in the second quarter after taking over for veteran Mason Rudolph. On his second possession, Howard led the offense on a quick 80-yard drive that culminated in a one-yard rushing touchdown by running back Lew Nichols. Howard displayed a strong connection with tight end Robert Tonyan, as the two connected for four receptions and 61 yards on just four targets. The 24-year-old played into the third quarter before giving way to rookie Drew Allar, who also turned in an impressive performance. Howard is worth monitoring in dynasty formats as he competes for a backup job heading into the regular season.

Rome Odunze Could Emerge As Bears' WR1

With second-year wide receiver Luther Burden III (groin) expected to miss time in the preseason, wideout Rome Odunze has an opportunity to make his case for Chicago's WR1 spot. Odunze hauled in 44 of 90 passes for 661 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games, averaging just over 10 half-PPR fantasy points per game. Odunze had a fantastic start to the 2025 season, averaging over 13 points per game and scoring five touchdowns in the first eight weeks. With D.J. Moore's departure and Burden dealing with an injury that could affect his Week 1 status, Odunze could step into a heavy workload to start the season. Currently ranked WR33 in RotoBaller's positional rankings, the former ninth overall pick could be a great value if he can build on his sophomore season.

Jerry Jones has No Regrets About Trading Micah Parsons

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he has no regrets about trading All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last year, according to Todd Archer of ESPN. The Cowboys traded Parsons to the Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. Dallas used the 2027 first-rounder and their own second-rounder in 2026 to acquire defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets at the 2025 trade deadline. The Cowboys used the 2026 first-rounder to take pass-rusher Malachi Lawrence with the No. 23 overall pick in April's draft. "Even though Micah's an outstanding talent [that] anybody would like to have, the bottom line is that I like what the result of the trade has ended up as I stand here today," Jones said Thursday. The move to trade Parsons also gave the Cowboys more salary cap space to sign safety Jalen Thompson and to trade for Rashan Gary. Dallas now has six players making $20 million or more per season. Parsons was on his way to a career year in his first season with the Packers, totaling 12.5 sacks in 14 games before suffering a season-ending torn ACL and meniscus late in December. The 27-year-old isn't expected to make his 2026 debut until Week 6 this fall.

Theo Johnson Losing Redraft Value as the Season Approaches

New York Giants 25-year-old tight end Theo Johnson finished the 2025 season as the TE19, with 528 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 74 targets. He had an impressive 11.73 yards per reception and became one of Jaxson Dart's favorite targets. However, the biggest thorn in Johnson's side is the offseason signing of 26-year-old tight end Isaiah Likely, who has been generating a lot of buzz in camp and has been one of Dart's favorite targets thus far. The wide receiver room for the Giants is extremely cloudy, with Malik Nabers (knee) recovering from injury and guys like Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Odell Beckham Jr., rounding out the receiver room. While Johnson proved to be reliable and explosive in 2025 (10th in explosive rating), the target share will take a significant step backwards and Johnson likely won't remain fantasy relevant unless he has a spike in touchdown production. RotoBaller ranks Johnson as the TE39 entering the season, which makes him a dynasty stash at best.

Terry McLaurin's Fantasy Ceiling Could be Capped After Recent Signing

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin may see a reduced target share with the addition of veteran wideout Stefon Diggs. The team signed Diggs to a one-year, $12 million contract, and the former Patriots receiver has shown out in his first few practices with the team. During a joint practice against the Miami Dolphins, Diggs dominated the Dolphins' cornerbacks in one-on-one drills and was a force in team drills as well. With Diggs expected to earn short-yardage work, McLaurin may be forced into a traditional X-receiver role, despite offensive coordinator David Blough stating they want to move him all over the place and get him "10 targets a game." While McLaurin's WR24 ranking seemed like a great value at first, Diggs' addition definitely increases the volatility of his 2026 outlook.

Chig Okonkwo Losing Redraft Value With Recent WR Addition

The Washington Commanders signed tight end Chig Okonkwo to a three-year, $27 million deal this offseason, and up until the signing of receiver Stefon Diggs on Aug. 7, Okonkwo was gaining some serious steam on draft boards as he was geared up to be the Commanders' No. 2 pass-catching option. With Diggs now in the picture, Okonkwo's value takes a hit; however, he does still present some late-round fantasy appeal at the tight end position, as quarterback Jayden Daniels enters the 2026 season fully healthy and has supported other pass-catching tight ends like Zach Ertz in the past. In 2024, Ertz was the TE8 on the season with 91 targets, 654 yards, and seven touchdowns. While Okonkwo's production wasn't elite with the Titans, he played in all 17 games in his first four seasons with them and saw 70-plus targets in his final three years with them. RotoBaller ranks Okonkwo as the TE18, and he has some fantasy appeal if you miss out on some of the top-tier guys like Brock Bowers or Trey McBride.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph completed 10 of 11 pass attempts for 93 yards in a 28-9 preseason victory over the Green Bay Packers. Rudolph got off to a rocky start, taking two sacks over his first four snaps, but quickly settled in and led the offense down the field on its second possession. Although the Steelers were unable to score after an offensive holding penalty nullified a three-yard rushing touchdown by Lew Nichols, Rudolph displayed early chemistry with rookie wideout Germie Bernard and several other pass-catchers throughout the drive. The 31-year-old then gave way to second-year pro Will Howard and rookie signal-caller Drew Allar, both of whom also impressed. It will be interesting to see how Pittsburgh's quarterback depth chart shakes out entering the regular season, with all three players competing for backup duties behind Aaron Rodgers. Rudolph is likely to see additional preseason action next weekend against the New York Jets.

So far, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Jahan Dotson has consistently spent time with the first-team offense in training camp. Dotson signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Falcons this offseason after two consecutive seasons as a rotational player with the Philadelphia Eagles. While star receiver Drake London should operate as the WR1 this season, Dotson looks to be fending off Olamide Zaccheaus and rookie Zachariah Branch in camp. The Falcons are seeking a replacement for receiver Darnell Mooney, who has averaged more than 40 yards per game with the team. If Dotson wins the WR2 battle, his current WR96 ranking in RotoBaller's positional rankings is a great value for fantasy managers in deeper leagues to take advantage of.

Mike Evans Not in Uniform for Preseason Opener

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans (quadriceps) is not in uniform for the team's preseason opener on Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Evans returned to practice earlier this week, but it's no surprise that he's not playing in the preseason opener after recently missing time due to a minor quad strain that he suffered early in training camp. In addition to Evans, receivers Christian Kirk and Demarcus Robinson aren't in uniform, and star running back Christian McCaffrey is out as well. It's unclear if the veteran Evans will play in any preseason games as he heads into his first year in the Bay Area with the Niners. The 32-year-old future Hall of Famer broke his string of 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons in 2025 in his final year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a broken collarbone that limited him to eight starts. A bounce-back should be coming in 2026 if he stays healthy, but that's a big question mark for an aging receiver who is closer to the end of his career than the beginning of it. For fantasy purposes, Evans should be considered a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 who will be a go-to target for QB Brock Purdy in the red zone.

Terrion Arnold Plans to Sign With Seahawks

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold plans to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN. Arnold has also visited with the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants. The NFL must next decide whether to put Arnold on the commissioner's exempt list after he was arrested on felony charges in connection with a robbery and kidnapping in February, which is why the Lions released him earlier this year. The 23-year-old was originally taken with the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft from the University of Alabama, and he recorded 91 tackles (70 solo), an interception, 18 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery in 24 games (22 starts) in his first two years in the league with the Lions. Arnold only played in eight games for Detroit last season. If he's allowed to play in 2026, Arnold will give the defending Super Bowl-champion Seahawks more depth in their defensive backfield.

Michael Pittman Jr. to Sit Out of Preseason Opener on Thursday

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (leg) is in street clothes and will not play in Thursday night's preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, according to Brian Batko of Steelers.com. Pittman has missed some practice time this week in training camp with what appears to be a minor leg injury. Both he and DK Metcalf (undisclosed) are being held out of the first preseason game, although they could be back for next week's preseason tilt against the New York Jets on Friday, Aug. 21. The 28-year-old former second-rounder by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 from USC had only 784 receiving yards on 80 receptions in 2025, but he did manage to find the end zone a career-high seven times in 17 games played in his final year in Indy. Although Pittman has a limited fantasy ceiling, he could rebound with his move to Pittsburgh if he's peppered with short targets from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Target him as a WR4/flex at a value in PPR fantasy drafts.

Micah Parsons Hopes to Return in Week 6 Against Dallas

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Green Bay Packers All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons (knee) is targeting Week 6 against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, for his 2026 debut after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus last December. The Packers have a very strict nine-month rule for players returning from ACL injuries, and it's not realistic for Parsons to return until around Week 5 or 6, especially since he's also recovering from a torn meniscus in his knee. The 27-year-old five-time Pro Bowler will open the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which will require him to miss at least the first four games of the year. When healthy, Parsons is a game-wrecker against opposing offenses. After Green Bay acquired him from the Cowboys before the start of the 2025 season, he went on to record 41 tackles (19 solo), 12.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 27 QB hits, and two forced fumbles in 14 games before his season-ending knee injury. Even with the possibility of missing the first five games in 2026, Parsons will have plenty of stash appeal in IDP fantasy leagues.

Tucker Kraft Tracking to be Ready for Week 1

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft (knee) is tracking to be ready for the Week 1 regular-season opener. The biggest question now before the start of the regular season is whether the Packers will give Kraft a contract extension that will make him the highest-paid tight end in the league. It remains to be seen if Kraft will play in the preseason at all, but even if he doesn't, it looks like fantasy managers will have him available to begin the 2026 campaign. The 25-year-old former third-rounder in 2023 from South Dakota State was in the midst of a breakout year before tearing his ACL, as he caught 32 of 44 targets for 489 yards and six touchdowns in just eight starts. There isn't going to be any real discount on Kraft in fantasy football drafts because of his serious knee issue from a year ago, with many pundits predicting his breakout to come in 2026 if he can stay healthy all year. RotoBaller currently has Kraft ranked as the No. 5 fantasy TE, behind Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, Colston Loveland, and Tyler Warren.

Starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers will also be inactive. The Steelers are playing it safe with Metcalf and Pittman, their top two receivers while they deal with minor injuries early in the preseason. Both players should be fine for the start of the 2026 regular season in early September, and they could be cleared to play in the team's second preseason game on Aug. 21 against the New York Jets. The 28-year-old Metcalf is still a physical freak, but he failed to return to the 1,000-yard mark for a second straight season and his first in Pittsburgh in 2025, and he could fall short of that mark again in 2026 after the addition of Pittman with Rodgers leading the offense for one more season. Metcalf has a safe touchdown floor -- he's never scored fewer than five touchdowns in his seven NFL seasons -- but fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting a return to Metcalf's glory days from his time in Seattle.

Aaron Rodgers in Street Clothes for Thursday's Preseason Opener

Pittsburgh Steelers veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in street clothes and will not play in Thursday night's preseason opener against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN. With Rodgers sitting out, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and rookie Drew Allar will get the work under center for the Steelers. The 42-year-old future Hall of Famer has returned to the Steel City for a second season in what he says will be the final year of his storied NFL career. Rodgers could have more opportunities to throw the football in new head coach Mike McCarthy's offense, although reports out of training camp suggest the Steelers' offense could stick with a pretty heavy ground approach again in 2026. Even with additional receiver help in Michael Pittman Jr., Rodgers will be an unintriguing low-end QB2 option in two-QB superflex leagues.

C.J. Stroud, Other Texans Starters Won't Play on Thursday

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and other key offensive starters like running backs David Montgomery and Woody Marks and wide receiver Nico Collins will not play in the team's preseason opener on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, league sources told Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790 AM. With Stroud sitting, Davis Mills and Graham Mertz will take the snaps under center. The Texans will be short-handed at the RB position with Jawhar Jordan (hip) and British Brooks (hand) also out with injuries, meaning Noah Whittington, Josh Pitsenberger, and Owen Wright should handle the backfield duties against the Bolts. The 24-year-old Stroud took another step back in 2025 in his third year in the NFL after an impressive rookie season. The former second overall pick from Ohio State completed a career-high 64.5% of his pass attempts last year, but he threw for a career-low 3,041 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 14 regular-season starts. Stroud will certainly be motivated to deliver if he wants the Texans to seriously consider giving him a long-term extension in the future. Fantasy managers should treat him as a low-end QB2 with bounce-back potential.
