Is Matthew Hibner the Tight End of the Future in Baltimore?

The Baltimore Ravens made an aggressive move in the fourth round of the 2026 Draft, trading up to acquire SMU tight end Matthew Hibner. Across 13 games as a fifth-year senior in 2025, Hibner hauled in 31 receptions for 436 yards and four touchdowns. The Ravens have veteran tight end Mark Andrews firmly atop their depth chart, and they also signed tight end Durham Smythe in free agency. However, Baltimore lost key depth at the position over the offseason, with Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar both departing the team in free agency. Along with Ravens' fifth-round selection Josh Cuevas, Hibner should have a chance to play a prominent role alongside Andrews as a rookie. Andrews is also entering his age-31 season in 2026, so Hibner could emerge as Baltimore's tight end of the future with a solid rookie campaign. In dynasty leagues, Hibner is a name for managers to monitor.

Ravens Trade Up for Tight End Matthew Hibner

The Baltimore Ravens have selected SMU tight end prospect Matthew Hibner with the 133rd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The Ravens traded up to acquire this selection from the 49ers in exchange for the 154th overall pick and a 2027 sixth-rounder. Hibner was a late bloomer in college football. After catching just two passes across three seasons with Michigan, he transferred to SMU, where he totaled 55 catches, 804 yards, and eight touchdowns over two years (27 games). Hibner offers the Ravens positional versatility, as the team can move him all around the formation. He should pair nicely with Mark Andrews after Baltimore watched Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar depart in free agency. The Ravens have made a concerted effort to supply Lamar Jackson with big-bodied targets in the draft this year. He might not have fantasy relevance right away, but there's some dynasty appeal here, especially since Hibner has a chance to be the eventual successor to Andrews.
