Tyrod Taylor Medically Cleared; Could Be Backup In Week 7

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor (lung), who has been out around a month with a punctured lung, has been medically cleared, according to a source. Rookie quarterback Justin Herbert has played exceptionally well in Taylor's absence and remains the starter coming out of the bye week, but Taylor could return as the backup in Week 7 against the Jaguars if all goes well in practice this week. The 31-year-old veteran began the year as the Chargers signal-caller, but we all knew it was a temporary gig until the Bolts felt comfortable giving the keys to the rookie from Oregon. Taylor was always more of a low-ceiling QB2 to begin with, and now he's completely off the fantasy radar unless Herbert gets injured and misses time.

Tyrod Taylor Remains Week-To-Week For Possible Week 5 Return

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor (chest, ribs) is still in a week-to-week injury situation, head coach Anthony Lynn confirmed Monday. Rookie Justin Herbert has splashed on the scene and looked the part of a starting QB, although he has gone 0-3 in his short time as the starter. Lynn said that he would need to speak with the training staff before providing any kind of update on Taylors status for Week 5 when the team travels to play the Saints on Monday Night Football. It sounds as if Taylor is healthy, the starting gig is still his to lose, which may check some of Herberts season-long fantasy intrigue. Whomever suits up at QB for the Chargers should have some low end season-long appeal, with high DFS upside against a Saints Defense that has yielded 30.8 points through its first four games this season.

Tyrod Taylor, Mike Williams Ruled Out For Week 4

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor (chest, ribs) and wide receiver Mike Williams (hamstring) have both been ruled out for Week 4 against the Buccaneers. Offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga (back) and offensive guard Trai Turner (groin) are also out. Rookie quarterback Justin Herbert will make his third straight start. Herbert has had his moments in his first two starts, but he's also thrown two interceptions and lost a fumble, which will make him a dicey QB2 on Sunday against a vastly improved Bucs defense. With Williams out in Week 4, No. 1 wideout Keenan Allen should be peppered with targets in this one, making him a strong WR2 for fantasy managers. Jalen Guyton will be a lottery ticket as a deep sleeper.
