Jets Agree To Terms With Tyrod Taylor

The New York Jets agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with free-agent quarterback Tyrod Taylor on Monday, according to sources. The journeyman quarterback will remain in New York after spending the last two seasons with the Giants. Taylor was forced to play in 11 games (five starts) for the G-Men last year due to injuries to Daniel Jones (knee), and he completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 1,341 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in those contests behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league. With the Jets expected to trade Zach Wilson this offseason, Taylor could operate as Aaron Rodgers' primary backup in 2024. The 34-year-old won't save the Jets' offense if Rodgers gets hurt again next year, but he gives the team some veteran experience at the position after playing in 92 games (58 starts) in his 13 seasons in the NFL with six different teams.

Tyrod Taylor Throws For Nearly 300 Yards In Season Finale

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (thumb) completed 23 passes for 297 yards and one touchdown while adding 38 yards on the ground. He also tossed one interception in an upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Taylor missed one series in the first quarter because of a thumb injury but was able to return and torch the Philadelphia secondary. Taylor would have likely topped the 300-yard mark for the second straight week without missed plays. The veteran took advantage of weak defenses in his starts to end the 2023 season and will likely be one of the more stable backup quarterbacks in the NFL again in 2024.

Tyrod Taylor Returns Versus Eagles

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (thumb) has returned to Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had been listed as questionable after suffering an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand. The veteran signal-caller was temporarily replaced by rookie Tommy Devito but didn't miss too much time. Evidently, Taylor and the Giants' medical staff felt confident that he could return to the game without a serious risk of re-injury. It's also worth noting that DeVito was seen limping off the field, though it's unclear if his apparent lower-body injury is anything serious.

Tyrod Taylor Injured Sunday, Replaced By Tommy DeVito

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (thumb) exited during the first half of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles and is officially questionable to return. He was replaced by rookie Tommy Devito, who returns under center after totaling 1,087 passing yards, nine total touchdowns, and three interceptions from Weeks 8 through 16. At this point, it's too early to tell whether Taylor will be able to return, but it's worth noting that the injury was to the thumb on his throwing hand. Therefore, if he does re-enter the contest, he'll likely have to play through pain.

Tyrod Taylor Draws Another Shaky Secondary In Week 18

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (back) is off of the injury report for Week 18, logging limited practices throughout the week. The veteran picks up his second consecutive start and fifth overall this season. In three of those starts, he's drawn some of the weakest secondaries in the NFL (Washington, Los Angeles, and now Philadelphia). In one half of action two weeks ago against the Eagles, Taylor threw for 133 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, which came on the final play of the game. He's also connected with Darius Slayton on long touchdowns in back-to-back games. Taylor is an interesting QB2 option in fantasy football and the matchup makes him a strong candidate for DFS lineups.

Tyrod Taylor Stays Limited In Practice

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (back) was limited in the team's practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week. It was announced earlier this week that Taylor would make his second straight start for the G-Men to close out the year in Week 18 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. We fully expect Taylor to be fine to play this weekend, but in the event the Giants play it safe and hold the veteran out, it would be rookie Tommy Devito making the start instead. For those feeling frisky in DFS, the 34-year-old Taylor could be a worthwhile, low-cost play while facing an Eagles defense that has been very generous to opposing QBs all year. On top of it, the Eagles could be resting key veterans on both sides of the ball this weekend with an eye toward getting healthier for the postseason. Taylor threw for over 300 yards with a TD and a pick in the one-point loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17.

Tyrod Taylor Limited In Wednesday’s Practice

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's team practice. Earlier on Wednesday, Giants head coach Brian Daboll named Taylor the official starter for Week 18 against the Philadelphia Eagles, so the back issue doesn't appear to be a serious injury. The veteran quarterback will have two more chances to upgrade his practice status before facing a pass-friendly Eagles defense. Philadelphia has allowed the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, making Taylor an interesting DFS play this weekend.

Tyrod Taylor To Start Season Finale

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor will start the team's Week 18 regular season finale on Sunday versus the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. The G-Men have nothing left to play for but pride in a game in which the Eagles could be resting key starters. The 34-year-old veteran signal-caller took over for the ineffective rookie Tommy Devito in last week's one-point loss to the Los Angeles Rams and went 27-for-41 for a season-high 319 yards, one touchdown and an interception while also fumbling. In a game against a vulnerable Eagles secondary that could be resting starters, Taylor could be a decent QB2 streaming option for fantasy managers in superflex leagues that are still competing for a championship in Week 18.

Tyrod Taylor Throws For Over 300 Yards In Narrow Loss

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw for 319 yards and a touchdown while adding 40 rushing yards in the team's 26-25 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He also tossed one interception. The veteran quarterback connected with Darius Slayton on an 80-yard touchdown in the third quarter for his score and scrambled 31 yards on the Giants' final drive to set up a potential game-winning field goal, which came up short. Taylor made the plays to win and ultimately delivered for the fantasy managers desperate enough to turn to him in Week 17. Taylor will be a low-end QB2 once again as the Giants host the Eagles in next week's season finale.

Tyrod Taylor A Low-End QB2 In Return To Starting Role

New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor returns to the starting lineup in Week 17, replacing ineffective rookie Tommy Devito. The Giants coaching staff opted to turn to the veteran halfway through last week's game and saw enough to name him the starter once again. It will be Taylor's first start since Week 8. While the matchup with the Rams is one to take advantage of (the defense is allowing the most fantasy points to quarterbacks over the last four weeks), Taylor can't be trusted in the fantasy playoffs. The Giants lack explosive weapons on the outside and are the second-lowest scoring team in the NFL. Taylor is a shaky option in 2QB and Superflex formats and should be avoided altogether in single-QB leagues.
