Zach Tom Questionable to Play Vs. Eagles

Per the team, Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Zach Tom (back) is questionable to play in Monday night's home matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Tom logged a week's worth of limited practice sessions ahead of Week 10's clash due to a back injury, and is among four Packers' offensive players who have been deemed questionable. The Wake Forest product had already missed two games earlier this season due to an oblique injury. However, he's been one of the best run-blocking tackles in the league when healthy, and can hold his own in pass-blocking situations, too. If Tom is eventually unable to suit up, teammates Darian Kinnard and Anthony Belton are the most likely to work in his stead.

Zach Tom Not Expected to Play in Week 4 Due to Oblique Injury

Green Bay Packers right tackle Zach Tom (oblique) is not expected to play in his team's Week 4 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys as he recovers from an oblique injury he suffered in Week 3, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Packers signed Tom to a four-year, $88 million extension before the 2025 season began, so his absence is a significant blow to the Green Bay offense. Packers left guard Aaron Banks (groin) is also banged up, so the team could potentially be without two starters on the offensive line in Week 4. With Tom sidelined, Darian Kinnard is the favorite to step in at right tackle for Green Bay. Packers quarterback Jordan Love was sacked five times by the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, although the Browns' defensive line is far more fearsome than the Cowboys.

Packers Reach Four-Year Extension With Zach Tom

The Green Bay Packers and offensive tackle Zach Tom agreed to a four-year, $88 million contract extension on Monday with a maximum value of $92 million, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The deal includes a $30.2 million signing bonus, which is the largest signing bonus for an offensive lineman in NFL history. It's a big-time investment in the 26-year-old offensive lineman that was drafted in the fourth round (140th overall) back in the 2022 NFL draft out of Wake Forest. Tom played in only nine games (five starts) in his rookie season but has since played in every game for the Packers the last two seasons while developing into one of the best right tackles in the league. His presence on the right side of the O-line is a major upgrade for the Packers' ground game and quarterback Jordan Love.

Zach Tom An Extension Candidate in Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers are "likely" to sign tackle Zach Tom to an extension before the start of the 2025 season, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Schneidman predicts that the 26-year-old should "command well into the $20 millions on his new deal." A fourth-round draft pick by the Packers in 2022, Tom has played multiple positions along the line for Green Bay. He found a home at right tackle in 2024, receiving the third most All-Pro votes at the position. Pro Football Focus gave Tom a 90.0 run-blocking grade, third-best out of the 140 tackles who were evaluated. As a team, Green Bay ranked sixth in rushing yards per game and third in total rushing touchdowns last season.

Zach Tom Likely To Stay At Right Tackle In 2025

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said that offensive lineman Zach Tom will probably stay at right tackle in 2025, even though the team has a potential need at center with Josh Myers set to be an unrestricted free agent in March. The Packers liked Tom more as a center when he entered the draft in 2022 out of Wake Forest, but he received the third-most All-Pro votes at right tackle in 2024 behind only the Eagles' Lane Johnson and Lions' Penei Sewell. "I feel good about our offensive line," Gutekunst said. "We'll always continue to address it because it's such an important part of what we do. But I like the versatility of our guys. We've got a lot of guys that can play four spots, a couple guys who can probably play all five." Tom bounced back nicely from a torn pectoral he suffered early last offseason.
