Cole Caufield News
Montreal Canadiens winger Cole Caufield has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. He is set to undergo surgery on his right shoulder. According to head coach Martin St. Louis, Caufield already hurt his shoulder earlier in the season and had been playing through the injury. The 22-year-old still managed 26 goals in 46 games and had 10 assists. He is expected to be fully ready for the start of training camp and will head into the next campaign with 53 goals and 84 points posted in 123 career appearances.
Montreal Canadiens winger Cole Caufield played a part in both of the team's goals in Sunday's 2-1 victory against the Rangers, logging a power-play assist and hitting the game-winning goal. The young winger now boasts three multi-point efforts from his last eight appearances. The times are tough for Montreal, but Caufield has been one of the few players on the team to actually enjoy a good campaign. He is sharing the 10th spot on the league's goals list with 26 markers and has posted 36 points overall in 44 games. Nick Suzuki, who set Caufield up for the game-winner on Sunday, is the only player on the Canadiens roster with more points (37).
Montreal Canadiens winger Cole Caufield (upper body) is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday against the Senators. He was shaken up by the Flames' Trevor Lewis in Monday's game, exiting with an upper-body injury, but the 21-year-old traveled to Ottawa with the team and was on the ice Wednesday morning. Caufield saw a three-game goal streak end on Monday, and it's been a superb campaign for him from top to bottom, with the talented winger posting a team-high 16 goals and nine assists in 28 games. He has scored in three straight meetings with the Senators.
Montreal Canadiens winger Cole Caufield suffered a game-ending injury early in the second period against Calgary on Monday. He was hurt when he took a bit hit from Calgary's Trevor Lewis and Caufield was ruled out with an upper-body injury after featuring for just 8:05 in the game. Montreal eventually got a 2-1 shootout win without Caufield, but he's the team's leading goal-scorer and it's going to be a bad blow if the 21-year-old is forced to miss time. Caufield is on 16 goals and 25 points for the year with 96 shots. Mike Hoffman picked up most of Caufield's minutes on the first line Monday and he could find himself in a bigger role again for Wednesday's clash with the Senators.
