Alexandre Texier Cleared for Original Six Matchup

Montreal Canadiens winger Alexandre Texier (lower body) will return to action on Saturday against the Boston Bruins. The French forward missed a couple of games earlier this week due to a lower-body injury. Since moving to Montreal in late November, Texier has seen a lot of success, posting 16 points (seven goals, six assists) in 27 outings. He's had four multi-point games in January, including his first career hat trick a couple of weeks back against the Florida Panthers. On Saturday, Texier will rejoin Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield on the first line. Joe Veleno will be scratched to make room for Texier in the lineup.

Alexandre Texier Misses Second Consecutive Game

Montreal Canadiens winger Alexandre Texier (lower body) remains day-to-day and won't play on Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres. A lower-body injury will keep him out for a second consecutive game. Texier's next chance to return will be on Saturday in an Original Six matchup against the Boston Bruins. In the meantime, Kirby Dach will continue in a top-line role. He ended a 31-game absence on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild, logging 16:46 of ice time. Although Dach went pointless, he still made an impact in a 4-3 victory with three blocked shots, one hit, and two shots on goal.

Canadiens Sign Alexandre Texier to Two-Year Extension

Montreal Canadiens winger Alexandre Texier signed a two-year, $5 million contract extension on Wednesday. He is currently on a one-year, $1 million deal, having joined the Canadiens in November. Prior to his move to Canada, the St. Louis Blues terminated Texier's $2.1 million contract. Texier has been a great fit in Montreal and recently scored his first career hat trick. In 25 games for the Canadiens, Texier has recorded seven goals and 16 points. He currently holds a top-line role and sees action on the first power-play unit, putting Texier in a great position to make a fantasy impact.

Montreal Canadiens winger Alexandre Texier (upper body) was hurt during Tuesday's physical matchup against the Boston Bruins, leaving a 6-2 win after logging only 4:20 of ice time. He was ruled out for the rest of the game after the second intermission. Texier recently had a four-game point streak, but he has now finished four consecutive appearances without making a mark in the scoring department. The French forward has registered six points (three goals, three assists) and 16 hits in 15 appearances since joining the Canadiens in late November. The 25-year-old Frenchman will be replaced in the lineup by Mathieu Joseph (illness), who is ready to return from a one-game absence. After two solid seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Joseph has struggled to find his footing in St. Louis. He has only contributed two goals and three assists over 35 games. The Blues utilize Joseph in a third-line role, which limits his fantasy value.

St. Louis Blues left wing Alexandre Texier missed Thursday's clash with the Sharks because of an upper-body injury. Texier logged 13:03 of ice time in St. Louis' season-opening 3-2 win against Seattle on Tuesday, logging an assist on Jordan Kyrou's game-winner, but he also appears to have gotten injured in the contest, as the French forward had a maintenance day on Wednesday. He took part in the warm-ups ahead of Thursday's game before being ruled out. Blues head coach Drew Bannister has labeled Texier as day-to-day. Zack Bolduc replaced him on the second line. The 21-year-old could keep his spot as the Blues return to action on Friday night against Vegas, increasing his fantasy value.

Alexandre Texier Out For All Of 2022-23

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Alexandre Texier will miss the whole 2022-23 NHL season because of unspecified personal problems. The Blue Jackets said in its statement that the versatile Frenchman won't be with the team "per the advice and recommendation of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program." Texier also missed the end of last season for personal reasons and a fractured finger. The 22-year-old managed to pick up 20 points in 36 games before being forced to end his season early. He's collected 49 points in total in 123 career appearances. Texier will be free to sign a one-year deal with a team in Europe for the upcoming season and his $1,525,000 cap hit will come off the books for Columbus.

Michael Del Zotto was involved in both of the Jackets' goals as well by dishing out a pair of assists. Nick Foligno opened the scoring for Columbus before Texier notched the team's second. Texier skates on the third line with Foligno and Liam Foudy, but he is also getting time on the team's second power-play unit, so he might interest a few fantasy managers in deeper leagues. The Jackets have a pair of games next against Detroit, which looks like a favorable matchup on paper.
