Nico Sturm Out Week-To-Week

San Jose Sharks center Nico Sturm (middle body) is considered week-to-week. He suffered a mid-body injury Tuesday versus Winnipeg and came out of the lineup Friday night against Arizona. Now, it looks like we won't see the 2022 Stanley Cup champion for a while. Sturm recently scored his first two goals of the season and has totaled four points in 26 games as a bottom-six center. Following Sturm's injury, the Sharks traded for Jack Studnicka, who will make his team debut Sunday versus Colorado. He arrives from the Canucks after showing some good form in the AHL with a seven-point effort across nine outings. In the big league, Studnicka has been limited to one point in five games this season.

Nico Sturm Hurt On Big Hit

San Jose Sharks forward Nico Sturm exited Saturday's win over Pittsburgh with an undisclosed injury. He was hurt on a big hit by Jason Zucker in the third period. There weren't any updates on Sturm's status after the game, but he will now at least get some good recovery time, with San Jose off until Feb. 7. Sturm, who won the Stanley Cup last year with Colorado, has tallied 11 goals and 17 points in 43 games during his debut season in San Jose. He has also picked up 72 shots, 59 hits and 27 blocks in a bottom-six role.

Nico Sturm Back In Action Wednesday

San Jose Sharks center Nico Sturm (concussion) will be back from an eight-game absence on Wednesday against Vancouver. He will slot in as the third-line center. Sturm, who won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Avalanche last season, had enjoyed a good start to his career in San Jose, scoring six times and posting two assists in 20 appearances. He has also provided a physical presence for the team, registering 29 hits. San Jose's regular third-line center Nick Bonino is moving up to the second line to replace Matt Nieto (undisclosed), who was added to Injured Reserve on Tuesday.

Nico Sturm To Play First Game With Avalanche On Friday

Forward Nico Sturm will be in the lineup for the Colorado Avalanche on Friday against the San Jose Sharks. This will be Sturm's first game with the Avs since being acquired in a trade that sent Tyson Jost to the Minnesota Wild. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar told the media on Friday morning he plans to start the German center on the third line between Alex Newhook and J.T. Compher. Sturm has already matched his points from last season at 17 (nine goals, eight assists) but it is unclear right now how his offensive production will evolve on a high-scoring Colorado team.

Nico Sturm Nets 11th Goal In Regular Season Finale

Minnesota Wild forward Nico Sturm opened the scoring with his 11th goal of the season in Thursday's 7-3 loss to St. Louis. Marcus Foligno posted one goal and one assist as the team blew a 3-0 lead in spectacular style. Ryan Suter also found the net for the Wild. Sturm finished his first full season in the league with 17 points in 51 games. He was pointless just once in his final four regular-season outings, so the 26-year-old German will head into the playoff in good form. Depth scoring will become hugely important during the postseason, and Strum will hope to provide it.
