Olli Maatta Returns To Utah Lineup Thursday

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Olli Maatta (lower body) will re-enter the lineup on Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings. He has been cleared to play after sitting out a couple of games due to a lower-body injury. Nick DeSimone filled in for Maatta and will exit the lineup against the Kings. Maatta plays a solid game at the back for Utah but lacks fantasy value, as he doesn't boast any outstanding skills. In 63 games since his move from the Detroit Red Wings, Maatta has recorded 15 points (two goals, 13 assists), 61 shots, and 112 blocks with a plus-four rating.

Olli Maatta A Game-Time Call On Tuesday

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Olli Maatta (lower body) is viewed as a game-time decision for their contest on Tuesday evening against the Calgary Flames. Maatta was unable to play in their previous contest due to this injury. If he were to remain out of the starting lineup, fantasy managers should expect Nick DeSimone to remain in the starting lineup and on the bottom defensive pairing alongside Michael Kesselring. Before his injury, Maatta was riding a nine-game scoreless streak. During this offensive skid, the 30-year-old logged six hits and nine blocked shots. Through 70 contests this season, Maatta has found the back of the net twice and added 13 helpers with 29 hits and an impressive 113 blocked shots.

Olli Maatta Considered A Game-Time Call Sunday

Utah Hockey Club defenseman Olli Maatta (lower body) is a game-time call for Sunday's tilt against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Finnish rearguard was injured on Friday night in a matchup against the Florida Panthers and is now in danger of missing Sunday's action. Utah has seen Maatta produce 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) in 63 games since the team acquired him from the Detroit Red Wings in late October. He ranks third on the team with 112 blocks. Nick DeSimone and Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) are potential replacements for Maata if he is not available. Utah has activated Bortuzzo from Injured Reserve ahead of the game.

Olli Maatta Shipped To Utah

The Detroit Red Wings have traded veteran defenseman Olli Maatta to the Utah Hockey Club. Utah sent out a 2025 third-round draft pick to bolster its injury-hit defense. The NHL's new boys have lost Sean Durzi (shoulder) and John Marino (lower back) to long-term injuries. Maatta, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, has skated in seven games with the Red Wings this season, going scoreless with three shots, seven blocks, and three hits. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much production from him on his new team, either.

Olli Maatta Ruled Out For Saturday

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Olli Maatta (upper body) won't play on Saturday against New Jersey. He was injured in Friday's battle with the Flyers, playing less than six minutes. The two-time Stanley Cup champion has made 27 appearances with the Red Wings this season, logging six points (one goal, five assists) with 29 blocks and a plus-six rating. Jake Walman, who sat out Friday's action, will likely re-enter the lineup on Saturday as Maatta's replacement.

Olli Maatta Working His Way Back From Pneumonia

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Olli Maatta (illness) has been battling pneumonia, it was revealed on Friday. He has been held out of the last four games with an illness, but Maatta shared some further details following Friday's practice, saying that he was dealing with pneumonia. The Finnish blue-liner is feeling much better now and will be a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against Ottawa. Maatta has found himself a nice role in Motown this season, averaging nearly 20 minutes of ice time and posting 10 points in 25 games with a plus-11 rating. His return would be a nice boost for a team that will be trying to end a four-game skid.

Olli Maatta Left Out On Saturday

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Olli Maatta will be a healthy scratch on Saturday against the Blues with Kurtis MacDermid replacing him in the lineup. Maatta logged only 11:04 in Thursday's 4-2 win over Colorado and he has struggled to adapt to his new team. His spot on the top pairing will go to Mikey Anderson, who has one assist and a plus-three rating through four games. Anderson's fantasy value gets a nice boost, as he gets a chance to skate alongside former Norris Trophy winner Drew Doughty.
