Oskar Sundqvist Out Week-to-Week

St. Louis Blues center Oskar Sundqvist (lower body) is out week-to-week, the team announced Tuesday. The Swedish veteran sustained a lower-body injury during Sunday's practice. General manager Doug Armstrong ruled Sundqvist out for Thursday's season opener against the Minnesota Wild and for the team's first road trip of the year. After hosting Minnesota, the Blues will travel to Canada to take on the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks. Alexandre Texier or Nathan Walker are competing to make the opening-night lineup in place of Sundqvist. The two scored just 27 points combined last season and have nothing to offer fantasy managers.

Oskar Sundqvist Injured at Sunday's Practice

St. Louis Blues center Oskar Sundqvist (lower body) was injured during Sunday's practice, Lou Korac of The Hockey News reports. According to Korac, Sundqvist appeared to hurt his right leg and needed assistance to leave the ice. This leaves his status for opening night uncertain. The Blues begin their season Thursday at home against the Minnesota Wild. Sundqvist has been a solid bottom-six forward for the Blues, scoring at least 20 points in back-to-back years with the team. Overall, he has had four straight seasons with 20-plus points. Alexandre Texier might step into the lineup as a replacement for Sundqvist.

Oskar Sundqvist Unavailable Friday

St. Louis Blues center Oskar Sundqvist (illness) will miss Friday's game against Ottawa. He'll be sidelined due to an illness. Sundqvist has struggled significantly for offensive production, registering six points (three goals, three assists) in 28 appearances, but he has recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in his past six outings. Mathieu Joseph will fill in for Sundqvist as the third-line center. Like Sundqvist, Joseph has also been out of form offensively, tallying four points (two goals) in 24 outings. However, he averages close to two hits per game and will add muscle to the lineup.

Oskar Sundqvist Resumes Skating

St. Louis Blues center Oskar Sundqvist (knee) has resumed skating ahead of the new campaign. The veteran centerman had his 2023-24 season cut short by an ACL injury on March 25. Sundqvist was initially ruled out for six months, so he appears to be on track in his recovery. While the 30-year-old offers little to fantasy managers, he has been an effective bottom-six center for the Blues. Sundqvist totaled 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 71 appearances last season and has gone for 144 points (56 goals, 88 assists) in 426 career games.

Oskar Sundqvist To Miss Rest Of Season With Torn ACL

St. Louis Blues center Oskar Sundqvist has been ruled out for the rest of the 2023-24 NHL season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Sundqvist is heading for surgery after hurting his knee in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss against Vegas. The team announced that he will be re-evaluated in six months. Sundqvist, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, completed his seventh full season in the NHL with 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 71 games. He will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Oskar Sundqvist Suffers Knee Injury

St. Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist has suffered a knee injury after taking a hit from Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb on Monday night. The pivot was seen leaving the arena on crutches and in a knee brace as the ailment could be of the serious variety. The 30-year-old has tallied six goals and 21 points across 70 games on the season while adding 82 shots on goal and a minus-five rating across 70 games. After dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to the Knights on Monday, the Blues are now five points back of the second and final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Oskar Sundqvist Nearing Return

Detroit Red Wings forward Oskar Sundqvist (upper body) is expected to be back in the lineup Thursday versus the Rangers. He will miss a seventh consecutive game Tuesday against Montreal, but Sundqvist has been practicing again and should be ready to go in a couple of days. The Swedish forward had opened the season really well before getting injured, tallying five points across six outings. He won't be able to maintain such a good scoring rate for the whole season, but the Red Wings are currently dealing with a number of injuries in attack and this could result in Sundqvist playing a pretty significant role.

Oskar Sundqvist Considered Day-To-Day

Detroit Red Wings forward Oskar Sundqvist is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He was hurt in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to New Jersey and should be regarded as questionable for Thursday's encounter with Boston. The 28-year-old has enjoyed a nice start to the year on Detroit's third line, collecting five points across six outings. Adam Erne skated in his spot in Wednesday's practice and he will replace Sundqvist on the third line Thursday if the Swedish forward isn't healthy enough to play. The pesky winger has found some form lately with assists in back-to-back games, but Erne has got only three points for the year and certainly isn't a reliable source for offensive stats.

Zach Sanford, Oskar Sundqvist Won't Play On Saturday

St. Louis Blues forwards Zach Sanford and Oskar Sundqvist will miss Saturday's matchup with the Sharks. Sanford has been added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list and Sundqvist exited Friday's 2-1 shootout win over San Jose with a lower-body injury. The Blues just can't get any luck with injuries this season, as Jaden Schwartz was finally back in the lineup Friday night, but the forward line quickly received another blow. Sundqvist has nine points for the season, while Sanford has managed 12 with eight goals, which have him tied for the fourth spot on the team's goals list.

Oskar Sundqvist Returns To Action On Friday

St. Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist will be back in the lineup for Friday's clash with Vegas. The 26-year-old was out for two games with an undisclosed injury. Sundqvist was hot prior to getting hurt with four points in four games. He is set to center the third line between Zach Sanford and Sammy Blais. Sundqvist has four goals and nine points for the year in 24 games with 47 hits, 31 shots, and 22 blocks. The Blues, who start Jordan Binnington in goal, are hoping to get back on track after suffering a pair of heartbreaking overtime losses.
