Quinn Hughes Wants To Crack 20-Goal Barrier

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes believes he can become a 20-goal scorer in 2024-25. "I felt like I missed a lot of scoring opportunities last year," Hughes told Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre. "And even though my goal-scoring spiked, I think it can spike again. This whole summer, I worked on goal-scoring - goal-scoring from the dot, goal-scoring from the top of the circles. So I think I can score more. I think that I can score 20 goals." Hughes had a superb campaign last season, putting up 17 goals and 92 points in 82 games. In terms of goal-scoring, his previous best stood at eight markers, and Hughes also crushed his overall scoring record. The 24-year-old is set to be among the top blue-liner producers again in 2024-25.

Quinn Hughes Registers Two Helpers In Game 3 Win

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes recorded his third multi-point postseason game of the year on Sunday, helping the team get past Edmonton 4-3. Hughes dished out a pair of power-play assists to Elias Lindholm. The star defenseman has been inconsistent with his offensive production in the playoffs but is close to averaging a point per game, with eight assists registered across nine outings. Five of the helpers have come with the man advantage. Following Sunday night, Hughes has had points in back-to-back games for the first time in these playoffs.

Quinn Hughes Sends Out Three Assists Wednesday

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes recorded three assists in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to Arizona. The prolific outing helped Hughes get past the 90-point mark. He's had 91 points in 79 games with 17 goals and 74 assists. Brian Leetch and Phil Housley are the only U.S.-born blue-liners to collect more points over a single season in NHL history. Nine points have come for Hughes during a red-hot April, as he's also scored four goals in five appearances this month.

Quinn Hughes Picks Up Two Power-Play Points

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes had two power-play points in Monday's 4-3 win over Vegas. He produced a goal and an assist in the first period to reach 36 power-play points for the season. Only Colorado's Cale Makar (37) has been more productive among defensemen with the man advantage. Hughes' most recent work includes three multi-point efforts in the past four games. He's pushed his scoring total to 88 points (17 goals, 71 assists), with four more games left to improve his career-high tally.

Quinn Hughes Extends Point Streak With Two Assists

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes extended his point streak to seven games on Tuesday versus Carolina with a two-assist effort in a 3-2 win. Both of Hughes' helpers came on Elias Lindholm's power-play goals. The star blue-liner now boasts 52 assists for the campaign -- Paul Coffey and Bobby Orr are the only d-men in history to have managed more through the first 50 games of a season. It's been a superb campaign for Hughes, who continues to lead all defensemen in scoring with 64 points collected. He has totaled 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) alone during his current scoring run.

Quinn Hughes Reaches 30-Point Plateau On Monday

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes continued his ridiculous start to the season with a two-point performance in Monday's 3-1 win over San Jose, hitting already the 30-point mark for the campaign. He had a goal and an assist in the contest. Hughes became the third blue-liner in NHL history to reach 30 points for a season with fewer than 20 games, joining Bobby Orr and Al MacInnis. He has recorded eight goals and 22 assists across 19 outings. Only Tony Tanti in 1983-84 has made it to the 30-point plateau with fewer games in Canucks history (17).

Quinn Hughes Tallies Four Points Monday Night

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes led the charge with four points in Tuesday's 6-2 victory over Edmonton. He scored the team's first goal and handed out three assists, logging three of his points on the power play. Hughes is off to a special start to the season and already boasts 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) in 12 outings. He's the second blue-liner in league history with at least 20 points and a plus-15 rating through the first 12 games of a season, joining Bobby Orr.

Quinn Hughes Dishes Out Three Assists Tuesday

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes amassed three assists as the team defeated Nashville 5-2 Tuesday night. He recorded his 19th career three-point outing, extending his franchise record among Canucks defensemen. Hughes has been hot ever since the opening night and is currently tied for the league lead in defensemen scoring with 11 points (three goals, eight assists). Vancouver's defensive star is also topping the league with a plus-11 rating. Hughes has struck a great partnership with Filip Hronek, who is plus-eight for the campaign and sits on eight points, which have all come via assists.

Quinn Hughes Named Canucks Captain

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes was named the 15th captain in franchise history on Monday. He's the first blue-liner to have the honor of captaining the team since Doug Lidster in 1990-91. The Canucks were left looking for a new captain after trading Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders last January. Time will tell if the "C" on his jersey will push Hughes into even higher heights. He had a career year with 76 points (seven goals, 69 assists) in 78 games last season, and Hughes sits fourth all-time among all defensemen in assists per game with 0.76.

Quinn Hughes Continues Multi-Assist Streak

Vancouver Cancuks defenseman Quinn Hughes had his third consecutive multi-assist game on Tuesday, setting up a pair of goals in a 4-3 loss to Vegas. His first assist came on a power play. The 23-year-old has demonstrated great playmaking ability all season, dishing out 62 assists in total. Only four players in the league have recorded more. Hughes, who earlier this month became the fastest player in NHL history to hit 200 career assists, had notched 67 points in total across 66 games, sitting third in scoring among defensemen.

Quinn Hughes Makes History In Monday's Win

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes had a historic outing against Dallas on Monday, becoming the fastest defenseman in franchise history to reach 50 assists in a season. He got to the mark in his 56th game of the campaign and added two more helpers to push the team to a 5-4 overtime victory. Hughes is also now the first blue-liner in Canucks history to have back-to-back 50-assist seasons. He has posted 57 points across 56 games during a very productive campaign, and Hughes should soon make another record his own after tying Doug Lidster and Paul Reinhart for the most multi-point games (16) by a Canucks defenseman in a single season.

Quinn Hughes Delivers Two Assists

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes registered two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 defeat against the Rangers. Conor Garland and Elias Pettersson were the goal-scorers as Hughes put together his 10th multi-assist game of the season. He is the first Canucks defenseman ever to have two seasons with 10-plus multi-point games. Hughes sits seventh in the league overall in 2022-23 with 42 assists and had added five goals in 47 games. From a personal perspective, it's been a superb campaign from him, but the Canucks continue to leak goals all over the place and fell to 20-27-4 Wednesday.

Quinn Hughes Records Three Points Against Tampa

Vancouver Cancuks defenseman Quinn Hughes led all skaters with three points in Thursday's high-scoring 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay. He scored his third goal of the season and picked up two assists, one on the power play. Hughes went completely goalless until Dec. 27 but has now picked up his form in front of the net and even boasts goals in back-to-back games. His second assist marked his 200th career point and Hughes became the third-fastest active defenseman to hit the milestone behind only Cale Makar (195 GP) and Adam Fox (241 GP). The 23-year-old is one of the best offensive defensemen in the league, with 36 points earned in 37 games, but Hughes has also made an impact defensively by tallying 36 blocks this season.

Quinn Hughes Records His 32nd Multi-Assist Game

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes recorded his 32nd multi-assist game in Friday's 4-1 win over Los Angeles. There are only four blue-liners in franchise history with more such efforts, with Dennis Kearns (53) holding the all-time record. Hughes helped Brock Boeser to get a power-play goal and tallied an even-strength helper on an Elias Pettersson strike. The star rearguard has yet to score himself this season but does already boast 16 assists in 14 games. Among defensemen, only San Jose's Erik Karlsson (17) has managed more. Hughes is having a very prolific season and has been held off the score sheet just two times.

Quinn Hughes Continues His Point Streak

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes tallied an assist in Sunday's defeat against Boston to extend his point streak. He is officially on a seven-game tear after missing some time because of an injury. If we also count his run before the injury hit, Hughes has managed at least one point in 10 consecutive appearances. His form has been so good that Hughes has actually finished without a point just once in 12 games this season. He's yet to score with 22 shots but has 14 assists to his name. Half of them, including his helper against Boston, have come with the man advantage.

Quinn Hughes Rejoins Canucks Practice

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (lower body) was back in practice Sunday, which is a big step towards returning to action. He has missed four games after picking up a lower-body injury. The team has struggled badly at the start of the season, but Hughes enjoyed fine form before getting hurt, averaging a point per game through five outings and posting a plus-one rating. He skated with Luke Schenn in practice, and it looks like the Canucks could get their top defensive pairing back together for Tuesday's home game versus New Jersey. Fellow blue-liner Riley Stillman (undisclosed) also returned to practice Sunday, while Oliver Ekman-Larsson sat out the session.

Quinn Hughes Considered Week-To-Week

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (undisclosed) is set to be out for a while, with the team announcing that he is considered week-to-week. This is a really bad blow for the winless Canucks, as Hughes' injury wasn't deemed to be very serious at first when he sat out Saturday's loss to Buffalo. Vancouver has also moved him to Injured Reserve. The 23-year-old was off to a nice start to the campaign, averaging a point per game through five outings. Kyle Burroughs found himself filling Hughes' boots and partnering with Luke Schenn at the weekend, and the pair should skate together again Monday against Carolina. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Tyler Myers make up the new first pairing.

Quinn Hughes Doesn't Practice On Sunday

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (undisclosed) sat out Saturday's loss to Buffalo and wasn't at Sunday's practice either. The team considers him day-to-day, so luckily Hughes isn't dealing with anything serious, but his participation in Monday's matchup against Carolina is questionable. The Canucks, who remain winless for the season, gave up five goals against the Sabres and also missed Hughes' creativity, scoring just once, after averaging three goals per game with him in the lineup. Brock Boeser also sat out Sunday's practice, but he only had a maintenance day and should be available Monday.

Quinn Hughes A Game-Time Call For Saturday

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes is dealing with an undisclosed ailment and is regarded as a game-time decision for Saturday's tilt against Buffalo. The tireless blue-liner missed the morning skate and could be forced to take a seat for the first time this season. Hughes' absence would leave a huge hole in the Canucks backline, as he's averaged over 27 minutes of ice time and boasts points from all but one outing this season. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Tyler Myers will be asked to do some extra chores if Hughes can't make it, especially with Tucker Poolman (undisclosed) also doubtful for the match.

Quinn Hughes Misses Practice With An Illness

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes missed Monday's practice with an illness. The talented blue-liner also missed practice time last week and there have been worries about him possibly carrying some sort of an injury, but luckily that isn't the case. Furthermore, Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau has said that Hughes' illness isn't related to Covid, so he shouldn't be sidelined for long. The team starts the new season on Wednesday against Edmonton. Hughes is entering his fourth season in the NHL, and he should be among the most prolific rearguards in the league again after setting a new career record in 2021-22 with 68 points.
