Pirates
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler continued his impressive run for Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, logging another five innings in which he allowed just one run (zero earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out five batters. The outing lowered his ERA at Triple-A to 1.17 over four starts (23 IP) to go along with a 0.91 WHIP and 6:28 BB:K. The former third-round pick has performed better as the competition has increased, posting a 4.75 ERA over 24 starts at High-A in 2023, then a 3.70 ERA in 16 starts at Double-A in 2024, then going on this impressive four-game stretch at the highest level of the minors. Chandler looks primed to make his big league debut next season, so even redraft managers will want to keep tabs on his performance over the final weeks of the season.

Look for him to make his big league debut next season, and redraft managers will want to keep an eye on how he finishes 2024.

Bubba Chandler Earns Player Of The Week Honors
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler earned Player of the Week honors for the International League in Triple-A. Chandler, the Pirates top pitching prospect made his Triple-A debut and clearly made a strong impression. He earns the honors with seven scoreless innings of two-hit ball with one walk and six strikeouts for Triple-A Indianapolis. Chandler has taken a big leap in 2024 and has a chance to be the next star pitcher out of the Pirates system. Between Double-A Altoona and Indianapolis, Chandler is now 7-7 with a 3.40 ERA with 100 in 87 1/3 innings in 20 games (17 starts). He could have a chance to make his debut this summer, but it is a safer bet that he will have his opportunity in 2025. Dynasty managers should consider buying stock in Chandler, while redraft managers should file his name away for next season.

Bubba Chandler Promoted To Triple-A

Bubba Chandler Continues To Raise Stock
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler put together his third straight quality start for Double-A Altoona on Wednesday to improve to 5-5 on the season. Chandler worked 7 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed two hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Chandler is in his third season with the club and has become the top-rated prospect in a good Pirates system at the moment. With the Pirates already having Jared Jones and Paul Skenes at the big-league level, Chandler appears to be the next star pitcher in the making for a young Pittsburgh rotation. On the season, Chandler sports a 3.45 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP and 75 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings with 15 appearances (13 starts). The right-hander has flown up prospect boards over the past season, but he is proving to be the real deal thus far and dynasty managers should take note of what could be another strong performer on the mound for the Pirates.

Bubba Chandler Strikes Out Career-High 11 In Latest Start
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler struck out a career-high 11 batters over 6 2/3 innings Thursday for Double-A Altoona. He gave up two earned runs on three hits and a walk as he picked up the victory. June has been kind to the talented right-hander with Chandler putting together a 3-1 record this month with a 2.49 ERA and 0.87 WHIP. The 21-year-old is the top pitching prospect for Pittsburgh after the graduation of Paul Skenes from prospect status. Chandler has really turned things on for Altoona this month after a rough May. If the past four starts are any indication, Chandler may have turned a corner in adjusting to pitching at Double-A. If he continues, he could be pitching in Triple-A soon.

In four starts this month, the Pirates' No. 3 prospect is 2-1 with a 2.41 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and 24 strikeouts and just two walks. The right-hander has an overpowering fastball to go with a nasty slider. Chandler is looking like a future top-end rotation piece for the Pirates. He could be looking at a promotion to Triple-A by the end of the season and a big-league debut sometime in 2025.

Bubba Chandler Tallies Season-High 10 Punchouts
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitching prospect Bubba Chandler struck out a season-high 10 batters across seven shutout frames. He allowed just two hits and one free pass. This was a great rebound performance for the former third-round pick, as he allowed five earned runs in his previous start on June 15. Through his first extended look at Double-A ball, the 21-year-old holds a 4.37 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 21:57 BB:K ratio. However, his ratios are a bit inflated by his blowup starts. Chandler posted five shutout performances this season but also gave four or more runs three times. Chandler is considered the number three prospect in the Pittsburgh system on MLB Pipeline and remains on pace to meet his 2025 major league debut.
