Jake Mangum Collects Three Hits, Drives in Three in Win

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jake Mangum went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Monday's 7-1 win against the Baltimore Orioles. He doubled, singled twice, and scored a run. That marks a seven-game on-base streak for the 29-year-old, who has shown well in his first taste of big-league action. Over the stretch, he's a stellar 12-for-27 (.444) with two doubles, eight RBI, and five runs scored. Overall, he's slashing a respectable .315/.360/.386 through his first 37 professional games, and has been a catalyst for Tampa Bay. Mangum doesn't offer much in the power department, but he has a high batting floor and should chip in a fair amount of steals with a sprint speed just outside the top 15% in the league.

Jake Mangum Collects Four Hits In Monday's Slugfest

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jake Mangum was in the thick of the action in Monday's 10-8 extra-inning win over the Red Sox. Mangum went 4-for-6 with four singles, two RBI, and a strikeout. The 29-year-old has come out of nowhere to be a surprising fantasy contributor as a late-blooming rookie, slashing .302/.333/.368 with one home run, 15 RBI, and 10 stolen bases in 112 plate appearances. He missed a little over a month with a left groin strain but has seen playing time and has provided batting average and speed, facets he also provided throughout his minor-league career. Mangum is currently rostered in just five percent of leagues, meaning he is likely available even in deep roto leagues where he could provide solid value.

Jake Mangum Reinstated From 10-Day Injured List

The Tampa Bay Rays have reinstated outfielder Jake Mangum (groin) from the 10-day injured list. In a corresponding move, the Rays optioned outfield prospect Chandler Simpson to Triple-A Durham. Mangum has been sidelined since April 24 with a left groin strain. Prior to the injury, the 29-year-old had posted a .338/.384/.397 slash line with eight stolen bases across 21 contests. Mangum generated a strong .283 xBA and struck out at a mere 9.3% rate, which are both well above the average marks. However, he generated a low 41.0% hard-hit rate and a 3.3% barrel rate. He also showed strong speed upside, placing in the 90th percentile in sprint speed. With Simpson being sent to Triple-A, fantasy managers should expect Mangum to have close to an everyday role in left field.

Rays Place Jake Mangum On 10-Day Injured List With Groin Strain

The Tampa Bay Rays placed rookie outfielder Jake Mangum (groin) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a left-groin strain and recalled infielder Coco Montes from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move, according to Bally Sports Florida's Ryan Bass. Mangum strained his groin in Wednesday's win over the Arizona Diamondbacks and will now have to miss at least the next 10 days. It's a tough break for the 29-year-old, who has taken advantage of his opportunities early in his rookie year, going 23-for-68 (.338) with four doubles, seven RBI, a league-leading eight stolen bases and seven runs scored in his first 21 contests. Fantasy managers that scooped him up off waivers can only hope he's able to pick up where he left off when he returns from the IL. Jonny De Luca, Josh Lowe and Richie Palacios are also on the IL, so Kameron Misner should play every day for Tampa with Mangum now sidelined.

Jake Mangum Exits Game With Groin Tightness

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jake Mangum (groin) left Wednesday's game in the fourth inning due to left groin tightness, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. He left the game after pulling up while running to first base. The extent of the injury isn't yet known, but more information will be available after he's evaluated further. He's been great so far in the early going of 2025, slashing .338/.384/.397 through 21 games. He hasn't homered yet but is a major threat on the base paths with eight stolen bases. Hopefully the groin issue doesn't impact that speed moving forward.

Marlins Acquire Jake Mangum From The Mets

The Miami Marlins acquired outfielder Jake Mangum as the player to be named later in the trade with the New York Mets that involved Jeff Brigham and Elieser Hernandez. Mangum wasn't one of the Mets' top 30 prospects, and he was left unprotected in this week's Rule 5 draft. Mangum is strong defensively and has a .760 career OPS in the minors in 209 games. The 26-year-old switch-hitter slashed a strong .306/.363/.441 with an .804 OPS, four home runs, 35 RBI, 43 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 72 games at the Rookie League, Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse in 2022. He'll be looking to compete for a utility role in Miami at spring training next year.
