Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Carlos Jorge continued to turn the corner at High-A after a slow start to the season by posting a .375/.565/.875 slash line with two home runs, five RBI, a 7:5 BB:K ratio, and two stolen bases over the past week. Jorge posted two multi-hit performances and only had one game where he did not reach base safely. Since July 9, the 20-year-old has held a strong .313/.450/.604 line, which is a significant improvement compared to the .201/.255/.377 he carried through most of the first half. Jorge is considered the seventh-best prospect in the Cincinnati system and should spend most of next summer in the upper levels of the minor leagues.
Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Carlos Jorge went 2-for-4 with a home run on Wednesday evening and has begun to turn the corner at High-A. This performance was his second consecutive game, tallying multiple hits and going deep. In addition, the 20-year-old has only gone hitless twice in his past 11 games. During this span he has posted an excellent .351/.467/.676 line with three round-trippers, six RBI, six stolen bases, and an 8:10 BB:K ratio. With his recent surge at the plate, Jorge could push for a late-season promotion to Double-A.
Carlos Jorge Struggling With Consistency At High-A
Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Carlos Jorge has performed very well at times through his second look at High-A this season but has struggled to hold that success for an extended period of time. Through 73 games this season, the 20-year-old holds a .210/.266/.377 line with 10 home runs, 35 RBI, 21 stolen bases, and a poor 17:105 BB:K ratio. In April and June, he held a batting average of over .200, but in May and July, he posted an average of under .200, which negatively affected his statistics. While his performance in the batter's box has dipped this season, his skills on the basepaths have not. Jorge is considered the seventh-best prospect in the Reds system on MLB Pipeline and remains a few seasons away from his major league debut.
Cincinnati Reds shortstop prospect Carlos Jorge went 3-for-6 with a home run and four RBI on Friday. This game improves Jorge's slash line to a solid .242/.296/.455. The 20-year-old got things started for Dayton in the first inning with a one-run double. Then in the sixth, Jorge laced a two-run double, further extending the Dayton lead. The eighth overall prospect in the Cincinnati system capped the game off with a solo shot in the seventh. Jorge could be promoted to Double-A later this summer and could even make a push to Triple-A. However, it is unlikely that he will see time in the majors this season.
