Tejay Antone News
Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Tejay Antone (forearm) announced on his Twitter account that he was scheduled to undergo Tommy John Surgery on Friday. This will be his second Tommy John surgery. His first came in 2017 when he was in the minors. Antone was sidelined for about two months due to a right forearm strain. He made his return to the diamond this past week, but wasn't able to complete an inning before feeling something in his elbow. Antone was one of the best arms out of the Reds bullpen this year. Over 23 games and 33.2 innings, he had a 2.14 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP and a 33.1% strikeout rate.
The Cincinnati Reds placed relief pitcher Tejay Antone (forearm) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to a right forearm strain. It's unfortunate news as Antone was previously placed on the 10-day injured list in late June due to a right forearm strain and was just activated on Tuesday. The reliever left Tuesday's game in his first appearance back from the injured list. He's pitched to a 2.14 ERA, a 3.49 FIP, 42 strikeouts, and 13 walks in 33.2 innings this year. What's more, the 27-year-old has also collected three saves and eight holds. The Reds have used several relievers in save situations, so there isn't a clear-cut closer for fantasy managers in search of saves to try and acquire. Right now, Lucas Sims, Mychal Givens, and Amir Garrett look like three of the favorites for saves opportunities while Antone is on the injured list.
Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Tejay Antone (elbow) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. At the time, the cause of the removal wasn't clear. However, after the game, Reds manager David Bell told the media that Antone had "definitely felt something in his elbow" during his appearance. Tuesday's relief appearance was Antone's return to action after he was sidelined about two months with a right forearm strain. It sounds likely that he'll be heading back to the injured list on Wednesday, but we should know more specifics soon.
