Jayvien Sandridge Called Up from Triple-A

New York Yankees pitching prospect Jayvien Sandridge has been called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The relief pitcher will be making his MLB debut whenever he enters a game for the Yankees. The 26-year-old had made only six appearances at Triple-A before his call-up, allowing just one earned run on four hits and four walks while striking out 13 batters. Over the course of his minor league career since 2018, the 6-foot-5 southpaw owns an impressive 32.7 percent strikeout rate, however, it comes with a concerning 17.7 percent walk rate. Hopefully that is something the Yankees can help remedy while he's with the big league club. The 6-foot-5 hurler will take the place of Yerry De los Santos, who was placed on the 15-day injured list, but Sandridge likely doesn't warrant consideration for fantasy at this point.

Jayvien Sandridge Signs Minor-League Deal With Yankees

According to the team, left-handed pitcher Jayvien Sandridge has signed a minor-league contract with the New York Yankees. Sandridge will also be invited to spring training. The 25-year-old has yet to reach the major leagues. Last summer, Sandridge made his Triple-A debut with the El Paso Chihuahuas. Across 39 2/3 innings of relief, the southpaw held a 4.76 ERA with a 1.82 WHIP. He struck out an impressive 56 batters but served up 35 free passes. Earlier in the summer, Sandridge posted a 3.38 ERA with a 1.55 WHIP across 21 1/3 innings at Double-A. Fantasy managers should monitor his progress during spring training, but given his struggles at Triple-A last summer, he will likely open the campaign with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. If he can turn the corner, he could find a path to being a low-leverage option for the Yankees.
