The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent right-hander Jesse Hahn to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invite to big-league spring training, according to sources. Hahn has pitched in parts of seven seasons in the majors with the San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals but hasn't appeared in a professional game since 2021. In his seven major-league campaigns, the 34-year-old veteran has a 19-21 record with a 4.22 ERA (3.93 FIP), 1.34 WHIP, four saves and a weak 18 percent strikeout rate in 311 1/3 innings over 82 appearances (50 starts). Hahn will have an uphill battle to climb and perhaps even stay healthy as he competes for a roster spot in spring training on a stacked Dodgers roster.

Jesse Hahn Transferred To 60-Day Injured List
The Kansas City Royals have transferred relief pitcher Jesse Hahn (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. The move was a surprising development as all indications had been that Hahn was close to making his return. He apparently experienced a setback in his recovery, though the details of the setback have yet to be released by the team. Hahn was first placed on the injured list on April 12 due to right shoulder impingement syndrome. With the transfer to the 60-day injured list, he won't be eligible to return until June 11.

Jesse Hahn Placed On 10-Day Injured List
Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Jesse Hahn (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement, the team announced on Monday. In a corresponding move, they recalled pitcher Jake Newberry from the alternate site. Hahn has not looked great this year, posting a 13.50 ERA with four walks and three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of work. With Hahn out, Newberry can be a solid, high-strikeout middle reliever target in SV/HLD formats, coming off a Spring Training performance in which he posted a 3.48 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings.

Jesse Hahn Earns The Save On Monday
Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Jesse Hahn closed out Monday's 3-0 win over the Cleveland Indians to earn his first save of the year. Hahn allowed a hit and a walk and didn't record any strikeouts while pitching the ninth inning. Hahn has been extremely active so far. This was his third appearance in four games, though his first in a save opportunity. Greg Holland is presumed to be the primary closer for the team. Holland pitched in Thursday's season opener, but hasn't appeared since. Monday's game seemed like the ideal occasion for Holland, but Royals manager Mike Matheny went with Hahn instead. It might be a bit of a frustrating closer-by-committee situation in Kansas City. For what it's worth, Holland was warming up in the bullpen after Hahn allowed some base runners. Holland is still probably the best bet overall for saves going forward, but Monday's game was clear evidence that Holland won't be the only reliever up for saves on the team.

Jesse Hahn Set For Prominent Bullpen Role
Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Jesse Hahn had the best year of his career in 2020. Over 18 appearances and 17.1 innings, he posted a 0.52 ERA and 0.69 WHIP while averaging 9.9 K/9. Hahn was a starter over the first four years of his MLB career with the San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics. The Royals converted him to a relief role in 2019. He struggled over just six appearances in his first year with the team in 2019, but made great strides in 2020. Hahn has had a solid spring so far. He's pitched seven innings and has allowed six hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out five. He should be one of the team's top set-up men alongside Scott Barlow and Josh Staumont, working in front of the team's primary closer Greg Holland.

Cheslor Cuthbert, Jesse Hahn Avoid Arbitration
The Kansas City Royals avoided salary arbitration with infielder Cheslor Cuthbert and starting pitcher Jesse Hahn (elbow) on Thursday. Cuthbert settled for $850,000, while Hahn agreed to a one-year, $800,000 deal. Cuthbert is merely a utility player who hit a poor .194/.282/.301 with three home runs and seven RBI in just 103 at-bats in 2018. Hahn missed all of 2018 but has a shot to win a rotation spot in spring training if he proves his health.

Eric Skoglund, Jesse Hahn Moving Rehab To Triple-A
Kansas City Royals starting pitchers Eric Skoglund (shoulder) and Jesse Hahn (elbow) have both had their rehab assignments moved to Triple-A Omaha. Both pitchers could return in the next week or two but would be very weak streaming options limited to AL-only leagues if they're in the starting rotation. Skoglund has a 6.70 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 7.1 K/9 and a whopping 10 homers allowed in 49 2/3 innings over nine starts. Hahn has yet to pitch in the big leagues this year. He'd probably be more attractive than Skoglund, but he also has a career 6.7 K/9 in the majors, so there's limited upside.

Jesse Hahn, Eric Skoglund To Start Rehab Assignments Wednesday
Kansas City Royals starting pitchers Jesse Hahn (elbow) and Eric Skoglund (elbow) will both begin their rehab assignments on Wednesday with the Rookie League Surprise Royals. Both pitchers are dealing ulnar collateral ligament damage in their elbows and are hoping to avoid Tommy John surgery. Neither pitcher misses many bats when healthy, though, and would be at best depth options in deep AL-only leagues if they join the KC rotation later this year.

Jesse Hahn Resumes Throwing
Kansas City Royals pitcher Jesse Hahn has begun throwing side sessions in extended spring training in Arizona as part of his rehab for a sprained UCL. Hahn was acquired over the winter in a quiet trade with the Athletics, and he brings a tiny bit of intrigue to the table. Hahn had two seasons in 2014 and 2015 where he actually looked like he could be a good major league pitcher. Since then, a combination of injuries and poor performance have relegated him to the garbage heap. However, if he can recover and actually stay healthy, he had great potential that could still possibly be realized. If all goes well, he should be throwing again this weekend.

Jesse Hahn Unlikely To Need Surgery
Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Jesse Hand (elbow) is unlikely to need surgery, according to Jeffrey Flanagian of MLB.com. Royals manager Ned Yost on Jesse Hahn's UCL sprain: "It's not to the point where they would just, I don't think, opt to surgery." Early today, Hahn was placed on the 60-day DL with a UCL sprain after he felt discomfort in his UCL after his last outing. Since Hahn has had Tommy John once before, the Royals are going to let him rest and start a throwing program before determining the next step. per Dodd, The team is hopeful that he might be able to pitch in 2018, after posting a 5.30 ERA and 1.51 WHIP last season/
