JR Ritchie Emerging as Sneaky Stash Target

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie should contend for an early MLB debut during the 2026 campaign. Ritchie was sharp in spring training, logging 12 innings to the tune of a 2.25 ERA, 0.58 WHIP, and a 14:5 K:BB. However, even with Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow), Spencer Strider (oblique), and Hurston Waldrep (elbow) all beginning the season on the IL, the Braves opted to send Ritchie back to Triple-A for further development. Instead, fellow emerging arm Didier Fuentes earned a spot on the Opening Day roster. However, given Atlanta's lack of pitching depth, Ritchie may get the call to the major leagues in the near future. Last summer, the former 35th overall selection made his Triple-A debut and logged 59 2/3 innings to the tune of a 3.02 ERA and a strong 1.09 WHIP. Managers should pay close attention to this early production at Triple-A, as he could earn the call in the coming weeks. For now, he is a viable stash option in deeper 12+ team leagues.

Braves Reassign JR Ritchie to Minor-League Camp

The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday that they reassigned right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie to minor-league camp. Even with the Braves dealing with more injuries to their starting rotation, Ritchie will open the 2026 campaign in the minors. The 22-year-old former 35th overall pick in 2022 made his case in spring training, allowing three earned runs on just two hits (one homer) while walking five and striking out 14 in 12 Grapefruit League innings over four appearances. If Ritchie continues to pitch well at Triple-A Gwinnett in 2026, he should be called up at some point to make his major-league debut with the Braves. Per MLB Pipeline, Ritchie is Atlanta's No. 2 prospect. He made strides last year in three minor-league levels to post a 2.64 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 140:54 K:BB in 140 innings over 26 starts. Ritchie has a diverse arsenal that includes a two-seam and four-seam fastball, a changeup, a slider, a curveball, and a cutter. He's a name to monitor in deep-mixed leagues in 2026, while he's a high-upside stash in NL-only and dynasty/keeper formats.

JR Ritchie Tosses Two Clean Frames, Continues to Make Case for Early Promotion

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie tossed two shutout frames in his spring training debut and continues to make a strong case for an early 2026 promotion. He entered the game after Atlanta southpaw Chris Sale logged two innings himself. Ritchie would not surrender a hit and would hold a 1:1 K:BB over this brief appearance. Managers should continue to keep a close eye on his development in spring training, as he could be in the mix for an early promotion, given the numerous injuries to the Atlanta starting rotation. Last summer, the 22-year-old began the campaign with High-A but was able to reach Triple-A in the second half. At Triple-A, Ritchie logged 59 2/3 innings with an impressive 3.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 67:21 K:BB. If he continues this trajectory, he would be worth viewing as a top early-season stash candidate.

JR Ritchie Drawing "Excitement" in Camp, Making Case to Earn Starting Role

Atlanta Braves starting pitching prospect JR Ritchie is drawing "excitement" in the early stages of camp and continues to make a strong case to begin the season in the MLB rotation. Ritchie is currently ranked as the team's No. 2 prospect on MLB.com and the sport's overall No. 86 prospect. Last summer, the 22-year-old opened the season at High-A but was able to progress through the upper levels at a fast rate, and concluded the campaign with Triple-A. At High-A, he posted a dominant 1.30 ERA with a 0.79 WIHP across a 41 2/3-inning stint. Through 98 1/3 innings shared between Double-A and Triple-A, Ritchie held an impressive 3.20 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and a 102:44 K:BB. However, his path to the majors has become quite clear, following the injury to Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) and, more recently, Hurston Waldrep being shut down with elbow discomfort. He is a top name to monitor throughout spring training.

JR Ritchie Could Compete for Starting Role in Atlanta Rotation?

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie is a name to closely monitor during spring training, as he could break camp with the MLB roster following the injury to Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow). With Schwellenbach on the 60-day IL with an elbow injury, Ritchie could make a strong push to open camp in the starting rotation. Last summer, the team's No. 2-ranked prospect began the season at High-A and was able to progress through Triple-A by the second half. He looked sharp at High-A, logging 41 2/3 innings to the tune of a 1.30 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and a 38:10 K:BB. Across 98 1/3 innings at the upper levels (Double-A and Triple-A), Ritchie posted a 3.20 ERA with a solid 1.10 WHIP. While the Braves may turn to veterans like Bryce Elder or Martin Perez, Ritchie could make a strong case if he turns in a successful spring training.

JR Ritchie an Emerging Arm in Atlanta's System

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie is an emerging arm in the Atlanta system and is expected to make his MLB debut in 2026. Ritchie began the campaign with High-A Rome but was able to reach Triple-A Gwinnett in the second half. At High-A, the right-hander was impressive, logging 41 2/3 innings to the tune of a 1.30 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP. At Double-A, Ritchie took a slight step back, carrying a 3.49 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP across 38 2/3 innings of work. However, during his first look at Triple-A, the 22-year-old rounded back into form, posting a strong 3.02 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP. During these 59 2/3 innings, Ritchie struck out 61 hitters while allowing 27 walks. Managers should keep a close eye on his status during camp as he could contend for an early 2026 debut.

JR Ritchie Named Braves Minor-League Player of the Year

Atlanta Braves pitching prospect JR Ritchie was named the Braves' 2025 minor-league Player of the Year by Baseball America. The Braves' second-ranked prospect had a fine season, which began at High-A (seven starts), progressed to Double-A (eight starts), and finished at Triple-A (11 starts). All in all, the right-hander posted a 2.64 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and struck out 140 batters in 140 innings pitched. The 22-year-old's ETA in the majors per MLB.com's Top Prospects list is 2027, but a 2026 debut would seemingly be in the cards if he continues to pitch well at that level, especially for an organization that is not shy about promoting its top pitching prospects to the majors.

JR Ritchie Strikes Out 11 in Wednesday's Outing

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie allowed one hit and two walks while striking out 11 across six scoreless innings as he picked up the win against Triple-A Norfolk. Ritchie gave up the most runs in an outing all season with five in his most recent outing, but bounced back here with the most strikeouts in a start all year. He generated 14 whiffs on 38 swings, with his sinker and curveball combining for 11 of them. The right-hander started the season at High-A, and his dominance at each level earned him multiple promotions. He's now made seven starts at Triple-A and has a 3.62 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 39:16 K:BB ratio in 37.1 innings. Ritchie is currently ranked as the number two prospect in the Braves system according to MLB.com.

JR Ritchie Getting Promoted To Double-A

Atlanta Braves pitching prospect JR Ritchie is being promoted to Double-A Columbus. The Braves' seventh-ranked prospect has pitched well at High-A so far this year, posting a 1.30 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and a 17.8 percent K-BB%, with his latest start being his best one yet -- a complete-game shutout in which he allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out nine in nine innings. MLB.com's top prospects list has a 2027 ETA for the righty, however, if he continues to perform, the Braves are no stranger to bringing up pitching prospects early, some even skipping over Triple-A altogether, a la Spencer Schwellenbach, so he's a name for fantasy managers to keep an eye on next season.

JR Ritchie Tosses Seven Shutout Frames

Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect JR Ritchie tossed seven shutout innings in his victory over High-A Hub City. This was the first time this season Ritchie logged seven innings in a single start. In this game, the right-hander allowed just four hits, one walk, and struck out six batters. Through his first 28 innings of the regular season (five starts), the 21-year-old has performed quite well, holding a 1.93 ERA with a 0.93 WHIP. During this stint, he has struck out 23 batters and served up nine walks. This is an excellent sign for the No. 7-ranked prospect in the system as he allowed four runs across his first 10 innings at the High-A level last season. If Ritchie were to continue to perform well, he should earn a promotion to Double-A in the second half of the season.
