Justin Wrobleski Starting For Dodgers On Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that left-handed pitching prospect Justin Wrobleski will make the start on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals in the series opener at Busch Stadium. Wrobleski, the team's No. 6 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make a spot start to allow the Dodgers to give an extra day of rest to right-hander Tyler Glasnow. This will be the 24-year-old southpaw's fifth start in the big leagues this year. In his first four starts, he allowed 10 runs (nine earned) on 17 hits (four homers) while walking seven and striking out 15 in 20 innings pitched for a 4.05 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Wrobleski is surely a gamble as a fantasy streamer, but the good news is that the Cardinals have found it hard to hit left-handed pitching in 2024.

Justin Wrobleski Sent Back To The Minors

The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned left-handed pitching prospect Justin Wrobleski to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday to make room on the roster for right-hander Jack Flaherty, who was acquired on Tuesday in a trade with the Detroit Tigers. Wrobleski, the team's No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline, held his own in his first four big-league starts, going 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 15 strikeouts and seven walks in 20 innings pitched. He allowed 10 runs (nine earned) while giving up 17 hits (four home runs). The 24-year-old southpaw will head back to the farm to continue his development while giving the Dodgers extra pitching depth down the stretch and for the postseason. Depending on the health of LA's rotation arms next year, Wrobleski could be in competition to open the year in the big leagues in 2025.

Justin Wrobleski Set To Make MLB Debut On Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitching prospect Justin Wrobleski is set to make his major league debut on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Wrobleski is being promoted from Triple-A to fill in as a spot starter to give the other Dodger starters an extra day off. The Oklahoma State product has progressed through the minor leagues very quickly, as he started in Single-A just two years ago. This summer, he began the campaign by making his Double-A debut, where he logged 67 2/3 frames to the tune of a 3.06 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and a 13:62 BB:K ratio. He was then moved up to Triple-A Oklahoma City in late June and needed just 10 1/3 innings there to prove he was ready for the big leagues. The 23-year-old could be an intriguing play in DFS and deeper leagues on Sunday but should remain on the waiver wire in shallow formats as he could only make one start in this brief stint.
