Nick Raposo Designated For Assignment

According to Shannon Drayer of MyNorthWest.com, the Seattle Mariners designated catcher Nick Raposo for assignment. This transaction opened a roster spot for infielder Miles Mastrobuoni, who the Mariners acquired earlier on Tuesday. The Mariners claimed Raposo off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this offseason. Last summer, the 26-year-old backstop spent the entire season at the Triple-A level. Across 78 contests, Raposo held a .206/.280/.340 line with ten doubles, eight home runs, and a 25:59 BB:K ratio. At the Double-A level, Raposo posted a career .268/.348/.324 line. Given his struggles at the top level of the minor leagues, Raposo will likely spend most of the 2025 campaign in the minor leagues.

Nick Raposo Claimed By Seattle

According to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com, the Seattle Mariners have claimed free agent catcher Nick Raposo off of waivers. Raposo was released by the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week. Last summer across 78 games at the Triple-A level, the 26-year-old held a .206/.280/.340 line with ten doubles, eight home runs and a 25:59 BB:K ratio. In 2023, Raposo held a .260/.315/.420 line across Double-A. Raposo may contend for a spot on the Opening Day Roster but will likely open the campaign at Triple-A as he has yet to master that level. Fantasy managers in dynasty formats should not consider stashing him anytime soon as he will likely need more time to develop and has yet to flash any true offensive upside.

Nick Raposo Let Go By Toronto

According to Shi Davidi of SportsNet, the Toronto Blue Jays are releasing catcher Nick Raposo to open a roster spot for relief pitcher Yimi Garcia. The Blue Jays agreed to a two-year contract with Garcia earlier this offseason. Raposo opened the 2024 campaign playing in the St. Louis organization before joining Toronto in August. Across 78 games at the Triple-A level last summer, the 26-year-old held an underwhelming .206/.280/.340 line with eight home runs, ten doubles, and a 25:59 BB:K ratio. In 2023, Raposo held a slightly higher .232/.334/.368 line across 27 games at Triple-A. Fantasy managers should not have Raposo on their radar heading into the 2025 campaign, as he has yet to turn the corner at the top level of the minor leagues.
