Reds Calling Up Rece Hinds From Louisville

The Cincinnati Reds are calling up hot-hitting outfielder Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer. In a corresponding move, the Reds are sending struggling outfielder Noelvi Marte to Louisville. Hinds could have immediate waiver-wire appeal in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues and figures to be on the short side of a platoon in right field with Will Benson now that he's back in the big leagues. The 25-year-old was hitting an impressive .354/.475/.771 with five home runs in 61 appearances for the Bats in the minors before his promotion. There's some intriguing power/speed upside with Hinds if he can cut down on his whiffs -- he's struck out over 38% of the time in the big leagues. The former second-round pick in 2019 has hit a combined .191/.242/.506 with seven home runs, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored, and two steals in 39 games with the Reds since the start of the 2024 season.

Rece Hinds a Name to Monitor in Deeper Leagues

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds is off to a strong start at Triple-A Louisville, going 13-for-34 (.382) with seven extra-base hits, including four home runs, and a 7:9 BB:K in nine games there. The former second-round draft pick made his major league debut in 2024, amassing a whopping nine extra-base hits (five home runs) in his first six big league games, but combined with a brief stay in the majors last season, the 6-foot-3 slugger owns an ugly 38.9 percent strikeout rate in 95 plate appearances during his time in the majors. After a .302/359/.563 slash line at Triple-A last year with 24 home runs, and a strong start in 2026, there's hope that the next time he gets the call, his success will translate to the big leagues. If it does, the 25-year-old could quickly become fantasy relevant, so fantasy managers in deeper leagues should keep him on their watch list, especially those managers in need of home run and RBI production.

Rece Hinds Goes Yard Against the Braves On Thursday

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double, and a walk in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Hinds was recently called up due to the injury to Noelvi Marte (oblique), made his second appearance thus far in 2025, and made the most of it. He doubled off Spencer Schwellenbach and homered off Braves' closer Raisel Iglesias in the ninth inning to give the Reds a 4-2 lead. Hinds splashed onto the scene in 2024, showing fantastic power, hitting five home runs and slugging .717 in 51 plate appearances in 2024; however, he was striking out at a 31.4 percent clip, and started 2025 in Triple-A. Through seven plate appearances in 2025, Hinds is 2-for-6 with three strikeouts. There is no guarantee Hinds will stay up with the big league club once Marte is back, so for now, fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his production and only pick him up as a short-term bat if needed.

Rece Hinds Homers In Third Straight Game

Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Rece Hinds kept on hitting on Tuesday for Triple-A Louisville, going 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, and scoring twice. That makes three consecutive games with a homer for the former second-rounder, now boasting a .281 AVG with an .897 OPS through 33 games. Hinds was not the one to get the call to replace injured Tyler Callihan (forearm); rather, it was Jacob Hurtubise, but make no mistake, Hinds and his power will be back in the big leagues at some point this season. Together with his ability to steal bases, Hinds is a name to monitor in redraft leagues.

Rece Hinds Hits Home Run No. 7 In Three-Hit Day At Triple-A

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds homered for the seventh time this season in a 3-for-6 day at the plate for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. The former second-round draft pick has his season-long slash line up to .274/.338/.521 with 31 RBI, 25 runs scored, and 12 steals through 32 games (134 PA), and could be knocking on the door to the majors again, especially with the Reds' recent call-up Tyler Callihan suffering a broken forearm on Monday against the Braves. Fantasy managers might remember the right-handed hitter's power binge when he was called up in 2024, collecting five home runs in his first six major league games, although it came with a 31.4 percent strikeout rate overall and no home runs over his final 16 games for Cincinnati. Power-needy managers in deep leagues will want to keep a close eye on this one, especially due to the 6-foot-3 slugger's potential to add some stolen bases along with the power.

Rece Hinds Flashing Power At Triple-A

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Rece Hinds has gone deep twice during the first four games of the Triple-A regular season. Across this short stint, Hinds has tallied at least one hit in all but one contest. Hinds has posted a strong .333/.412/.833 slash line with two long balls, six RBI, and a 2:5 BB:K. Hinds has also swiped two bags and scored six runs. The 24-year-old received a brief taste of the major leagues last summer and flashed elite power upside. Across 24 games in Cincinnati, Hinds launched five long balls with four doubles and held a .717 SLG. He swiped two bags during this stint and generated an elite .386 xwOBA. However, he posted a hefty 38.2 percent whiff rate. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Hinds' progression at Triple-A as he should push for an early return to the big leagues. He is worth adding in all five outfielder leagues when he returns, given his power upside.

Reds Recall Rece Hinds From Triple-A

The Cincinnati Reds recalled outfield prospect Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday and placed outfielder Stuart Fairchild (thumb) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 26) in a corresponding move with a left-thumb sprain. The 23-year-old Hinds, who is the team's No. 15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, did not start in Tuesday's contest against the Oakland Athletics, and he'll most likely serve in a reserve role in his second MLB stint. He took major-league baseball by storm upon his initial call-up, going 11-for-22 with five home runs, three doubles, a triple, 11 RBI and two steals in his first six games before 1-for-16 with a double and five strikeouts in his ensuing four games before being sent back to Louisville. All of his 10 starts came in right field, so if anything, Hinds may be on the short side of a platoon against lefties in his return.

Rece Hinds Heads Back To Minors

To make room for outfielder TJ Friedl (hamstring) on the active MLB roster, the Cincinnati Reds optioned outfield prospect Rece Hinds to Triple-A Louisville. Hinds burst onto the scene after his first big-league call-up and was named the National League Player of the Week two weeks ago, but he has predictably fallen off since then. The 23-year-old went deep five times in his first six games with the Reds but picked up just one hit in 16 at-bats since then, including five strikeouts. As a result, the former second-rounder in 2019 lost out on playing time and will now continue his development on the farm. The club's No. 15 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has hit .316 (12-for-38) in his first 10 MLB games and could be back with the Reds when rosters expand in September as outfield depth.

Rece Hinds Batting Seventh In Tuesday's Lineup

Cincinnati Reds rookie Rece Hinds remains in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Hinds will be playing right field and batting seventh in the order. He is hitting .353/.389/.971 with five homers, 11 RBI, seven runs scored, and two stolen bases in his first nine big league games. He has not played since Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals, where he went 0-for-4, only the second time Hinds was hitless. Daily fantasy managers should continue riding Hinds' blistering pace, while those in standard leagues should look to add room for him.

Rece Hinds On The Bench Again For Reds

Cincinnati Reds rookie outfielder Rece Hinds is on the bench on Monday for the second day in a row against the hosting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Reynaldo Lopez. The Reds will use Will Benson, Stuart Fairchild and Jake Fraley in the outfield on Monday from left to right field, respectively. Hinds, the club's No. 15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, started his MLB career off with a bang, going 11-for-22 (.500) with five home runs, three doubles, a triple, 11 RBI and two stolen bases in his first six games, but he's gone 1-for-12 with a double and three strikeouts in his last three games and may only be in Cincy's starting lineup against left-handed pitchers moving forward. It was an amazing start for the 23-year-old, but fantasy managers should have been expecting him to come back down to Earth sooner than later.
