The St. Louis Cardinals optioned right-hander Chris Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday and are calling up right-hander Roddery Munoz from Memphis in a corresponding move, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo. In four appearances at Memphis, Munoz has allowed an earned runs on three hits while walking five and striking out seven in five innings. Roycroft had a strong spring training but allowed runs in three of his seven appearances in the regular season. The 27-year-old just hadn't been sharp with his command but will surely be given a chance again this year in St. Louis' bullpen in lower-leverage situations. Munoz, a 24-year-old Dominican, made his major-league debut last year with the Miami Marlins and had a 6.53 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 70 strikeouts and 42 walks in 82 2/3 innings over 18 outings (17 starts).

The 24-year-old right-hander is giving Miami's injury-riddled rotation some valuable work since joining the major-league roster in late April, attaining a 2.45 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and 14:3 K:BB over 11 frames (two starts). Despite the strong start, Munoz lines up to take the hill in a shy-away spot for fantasy purposes on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers have scored an MLB-high 177 runs through 33 outings.
The Miami Marlins recalled rookie right-hander Roddery Munoz from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, and he will make the start against the visiting Colorado Rockies with left-hander Jesus Luzardo (elbow) on the injured list. The Marlins optioned right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez to Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Munoz made his major-league debut on April 20 in a start against the Chicago Cubs and was handed a no-decision when he allowed two earned runs on two hits (two home runs) while walking one and striking out seven in five innings. He's been pretty bad in the minors, though, sporting an 8.62 ERA with 14 walks and nine strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings with Jacksonville. The matchup is about as good as it gets for Munoz in his second career start, but the 24-year-old is as risky as they come as a deep-league streamer.

The Atlanta Braves recalled right-handed pitching prospect Roddery Munoz from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday and outrighted left-hander Lucas Luetge to Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Munoz, the team's No. 21 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will be getting his first taste of the majors after posting a 4.94 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, 20 walks and 24 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings over 15 outings (one start) between Double-A Mississippi and Gwinnett. The 23-year-old had been looking better in recent outings at Gwinnett, so he'll get the call to Atlanta for the time being. Munoz's fastball/slider combination can generate plenty of swings and misses, but he'll need to limit the free passes if he's going to stick around in the Braves' bullpen. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues can ignore him for now.
