Ryan O'Hearn News
Kansas City Royals first baseman/outfielder Ryan O'Hearn is not in the lineup Tuesday to take on the Houston Astros. Emmanuel Rivera will take his spot, playing third base and batting eighth. Fantasy managers rostering him should change their lineup accordingly. Since the trade of Jorge Soler, O'Hearn has been getting the majority of reps in right field but has been a below-average hitter, slashing .240/.273/.427 and striking out 30.1% of the time. He also has nine home, 28 RBI, and 18 runs in 57 games. Although not relevant in most leagues, he does play every day and hit enough home runs to have significance in deep leagues.
Kansas City Royals first baseman/designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn had a strong day at the plate against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. He went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and three RBI. The home run was his ninth of the year. O'Hearn has seen consistent playing time since the team traded away Jorge Soler at the trade deadline. He has regularly been hitting right in the heart of the team's lineup, starting at both first base and designated hitter. He has some clear power upside with an 11.7% barrel rate and 15.8 degree average launch angle on the year. However, he's hitting just .226 with a .236 xBA and needs to show more consistency before warranting serious fantasy consideration.
Kansas City Royals first baseman Ryan O'Hearn will be heading back to the team's Triple-A affiliate in Omaha. The Royals needed to open a roster spot to activate Hunter Dozier from the injured list. In O'Hearn's brief stint with the club, he had a .189 batting average, three home runs, and six RBI. He stepped to the plate 53 times in 20 games so far this season.
