Ryan Sloan Has Potential For Future Fantasy Impact

Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Ryan Sloan is just 20 years old and has spent all of 2026 in Double-A with the Arkansas Travelers. The right-hander is 2-3 overall with a 3.91 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP with 91 strikeouts in 76 innings pitched. In 17 games started this season, it has been a good sample size for Sloan, the Mariners' second round pick in 2024. The No. 2 overall prospect in the Mariners system behind his Arkansas teammate Kade Anderson, Sloan has a 60-grade fastball and changeup with a 55-grade slider. At 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, Sloan has an elite frame and is a presence on the mound. He will likely need a bit more work in the minors to polish his overall arsenal. Thus he can likely be left on waiver wires in redraft leagues as he works his way towards a major league debut likely in the next few years.

Is Ryan Sloan the Next Mariners Pitcher to Debut?

Seattle Mariners right-handed pitching prospect Ryan Sloan has spent the entire 2026 season at the Double-A level but has been overshadowed by his teammate Kade Anderson. While Anderson has recently jumped Sloan on the team prospect board (on MLB.com), Sloan possesses nearly as much upside, sitting as MLB.com's No. 8 overall prospect and the team's No. 2 overall prospect. Through the first half of the 2026 season, the 55th overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft has posted a 4.04 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over his first 62 1/3 innings at Double-A. He has struck out an impressive 77 hitters and walked only 12. During the 2025 season, Sloan made his professional debut and tossed 82 innings with a 3.73 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP over stints in the lower levels. Given Sloan's previous professional experience, the Mariners could turn to him first, rather than Anderson, when they need depth down the stretch. For now, Sloan is worth close monitoring, as a promotion to Triple-A could be imminent.

Ryan Sloan Beginning Campaign with Double-A Arkansas

Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Ryan Sloan will begin the year at Double-A Arkansas. The Mariners' third-ranked prospect spent most of 2025 at Single-A, where he pitched to a 3.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 21.8 percent K-BB%, which earned him three starts at High-A late in the season before an eye procedure ended his campaign somewhat prematurely. The 6-foot-5 hurler is now fully recovered and has looked good this spring by all accounts, although he logged just one inning in the Cactus League. The former second-rounder has a fastball that sits in the upper 90s along with two strong secondary offerings: a changeup and slider. There is projectability in his large frame, and he could make quick work of Double-A, likely making it to Triple-A by the end of the year. Although he should move fast through the organization, he's still just 20 years old, so a 2027 debut is more likely. The right-hander has the makings of a frontline starter and should be stashed away in dynasty leagues.
