Orioles
Baltimore Orioles catching/first base prospect Samuel Basallo launched his first home run at Triple-A on Thursday evening. Since joining Triple-A Norfolk, the top prospect has tallied only two hits across his first 14 at-bats and holds a 1:7 BB:K ratio. Earlier this summer at Double-A Bowie, the 20-year-old posted a stellar .289/.355/.465 line with 16 home runs, 55 RBI, and 22 doubles. Since making his Single-A debut in 2023, the backstop has progressed through the minor leagues very quickly and should have a good chance of reaching the majors next season. MLB.com ranks Basallo as the No.2 best prospect in Baltimore and the 10th best in the sport.

Samuel Basallo Records First Triple-A Hit
A day after making his Triple-A debut, Baltimore Orioles catching/first base prospect Samuel Basallo collected his first hit for Norfolk. Even so, MLB's 11-ranked prospect has gotten off to a rough start in his short two-game tenure with the Tides, going 1-for-8 with five strikeouts. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old is the youngest player in Triple-A and remains another bright spot in the Orioles' future. Over 106 games at Double-A, the Dominican slashed .289/.355/.465 with 16 home runs and even chipped in nine stolen bases. Look for Basallo to potentially make his big league debut next season and he'll likely end up as a "must-stash" prospect for fantasy, although it will likely be as a first baseman and not catcher with Adley Rutschman holding things down behind the dish.

Samuel Basallo Getting Promoted To Triple-A
Baltimore Orioles catching prospect Samuel Basallo earned Eastern League Player of the Week honors after collecting at least one hit in each of his six games last week and slashing .421/.519/.737. The 20-year-old was having a great season overall at Double-A, slashing .289/.355/.465 with 16 home runs in 106 games played, culminating in his promotion to Triple-A Norfolk. Basallo will be the youngest player at Triple-A and will begin to make his case for a 2025 MLB debut. MLB's 11th-ranked prospect may have to transition to first base with Adley Rutschman behind the plate in Baltimore, but he's got the makings of a star which makes him very fantasy-relevant.

Samuel Basallo Stays Hot At Double-A Bowie
Baltimore Orioles catcher/first base prospect Samuel Basallo continued to crush Double-A pitching with four more hits for Double-A Bowie on Wednesday. The Orioles' No. 2 prospect is red-hot right now, turning in an August slash line of .458/.480/.750 in six games so far this month. Overall, the 19-year-old is hitting .284 with 15 homers and 43 RBI to go along with nine stolen bases. Basallo is one of the top young prospects in baseball and the fact that he is crushing it in Double-A at age 19 is a great sign of what is to come. The Orioles held on tight to him at the trade deadline this year and his future is bright in Baltimore. He looks like he could be a future fantasy superstar.

Samuel Basallo Logs Three Hits For Double-A Bowie
Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo went 3-for-4 for Double-A Bowie on Tuesday night for his fourth three-hit game this season at Double-A. The 19-year-old is a future star in the making and the Orioles chose to hold onto him at the trade deadline. The sweet-swinging lefty is hitting .270 with 13 homers and 40 RBI at Double-A as a youngster. Basallo has impressed at every level and while he's most likely a few years away from making a big-league impact, he should be a big part of Baltimore's future.

Samuel Basallo Launches 13th Long Ball
Baltimore Orioles catching prospect Samuel Basallo broke out of his slump by launching his 13th home run of the season on Thursday. Basallo entered that game with a 10-game power slump, where he carried a disappointing .237 SLG. The 19-year-old has struggled to find consistency at the plate this month as he sports a season-low .220/.350/.380 line through July. Overall, the backstop has performed quite well in his first extended look at Double-A pitching as he sits with a .271/.341/.448 line. Basallo could earn a small taste of Triple-A later this summer and should contend for a major league debut next season.

Samuel Basallo Struggling In July
Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo has been slumping in July while playing with Double-A Bowie. Through 46 plate appearances, he's slashing .220/.304/.317 with a double, a home run, five RBI, and a 5:10 BB:SO. This is far below his production rate from April to June, when he slashed .281/.339/.461 with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 34 RBI, and a 22:58 BB:SO. Rough stretches are expected for young prospects, though, and there's no real reason to assume he won't bounce back. It's important to remember that Basallo is still a teenager (he'll turn 20 on Aug. 13). Despite his youth, he's expected to make his MLB debut at some point next year.

Samuel Basallo Crushes Homer For Double-A Bowie
Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run Wednesday for Double-A Bowie. Basallo is hitting .279 with 12 homers and 37 RBI for Bowie this season. The Orioles No. 2 prospect is having a very productive season in Double-A at just 19 years old. Basallo is one of the top catcher prospects in the game with 60-grade hitting and power. Basallo hit .284 with four homers and 10 RBI in June and could be pushing for a promotion to Triple-A soon. Basallo has progressed quickly through the minors and could find his way to Baltimore in a season or two.

Samuel Basallo Returns To Lineup
Baltimore Orioles catcher prospect Samuel Basallo (lower body) returned to action on Sunday for Double-A Bowie. Basallo had been absent from the lineup since Thursday with a lower body contusion. In his return, the backstop went 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI. The 19-year-old is the club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline and is now hitting .281 with 11 homers, 34 RBI and seven stolen bases on the season. Despite being one of the best prospects in one of the best systems, Basallo could be a trade candidate for the playoff contending Orioles who have catcher Adley Rutschman behind the dish for the future. Regardless of if he is dealt or not, Basallo should be rostered in dynasty leagues, but his quickest route to the majors would likely come by being dealt. Either way, Basallo isn't expected to reach the big leagues until next season at the earliest.
