Seiya Suzuki Out of Lineup on Saturday

Chicago Cubs outfielder/designated hitter Seiya Suzuki is sitting on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Willi Castro will play right field and hit eighth in a meeting with right-hander Zack Littell, while Moises Ballesteros will serve as the DH and bat cleanup. Suzuki returned Wednesday after missing a week with bronchitis, but he has gone just 1-for-8 with two walks and a strikeout in three games since then. While the 31-year-old has posted career highs in home runs (27) and RBI (91) this season, he has only gone deep twice and driven in 14 runs in 51 games since the mid-July All-Star break. Suzuki has hit .243/.325/.458 with 69 runs and five steals in 143 games and 622 trips to the plate this season.

Seiya Suzuki Back in Lineup on Wednesday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (illness) is back in the lineup on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Suzuki will play right field and hit fifth in a meeting with right-hander Johan Oviedo. The 31-year-old slugger missed the Cubs' previous five games while dealing with bronchitis. Before then, he opened September an ice-cold 7-for-34 (.206) with no extra-base hits, two RBI, nine strikeouts, and six walks over nine games. Suzuki has taken 611 trips to the plate this season and hit .244/.324/.461 with career highs in homers (27) and RBI (91), 69 runs scored, and five stolen bases. He's just 1-for-9 with three strikeouts against Oviedo.

Seiya Suzuki Still on the Bench for Cubs

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (illness) still isn't feeling good enough to join the starting nine for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Willi Castro will make another start in right field and bat out of the eight-hole against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Suzuki will miss his fifth straight game while being under the weather. The 31-year-old is with the club on their road trip to Pittsburgh, so he remains day-to-day and could be back as soon as Wednesday. With Kyle Tucker (calf) on the injured list, Castro has been playing regularly for Chicago in right field lately. The 28-year-old Puerto Rican switch-hitter offers modest power/speed numbers for fantasy managers, but he's hit just .182 (16-for-88) with a homer and six RBI in 30 games since joining the Cubs. He's also hitless in three career at-bats against Skenes.

Seiya Suzuki Will Remain Out on Monday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (illness) will travel with the team to Pittsburgh but won't play on Monday while he deals with a health issue, reports Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com. This will be the fourth straight game missed for the 31-year-old. The exact details of his illness remain unclear, but he is expected to be back soon, considering he is travelling with the team on a normal schedule for this road trip. Moises Ballesteros drew the start at designated hitter for the past three games with Suzuki out. Suzuki has enjoyed a nice 2025 so far, batting .244 with 69 runs, 27 home runs, and 91 RBI in 140 games.

Seiya Suzuki Absent Again on Saturday

Chicago Cubs designated hitter/outfielder Seiya Suzuki (illness) is out of the lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Moises Ballesteros will serve as the Cubs' designated hitter and bat sixth versus right-hander Drew Rasmussen, while Owen Caissie will play right field and hit eighth. Suzuki is dealing with an illness that also kept him out of the Cubs' 6-4 win over the Rays on Friday. The 31-year-old has slashed .244/.324/.461 with 27 homers, 91 RBI, 69 runs scored, and five steals in 611 plate appearances, but his production has fallen off dramatically over the past couple of months. He has hit .204/.333/.269 with two HRs across 204 trips to the plate in the second half of the season.

Seiya Suzuki Out Sick on Friday

Updating a previous report, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (illness) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays at Wrigley Field due to an illness. Willi Castro made the start in right field and is hitting eighth against Rays right-hander Shane Baz. Suzuki started in each of the team's last 12 games. It's a good time for him to rest, as he's gone 7-for-34 (.206) with no homers, two RBI, a steal, and nine strikeouts in 41 trips to the plate in nine games so far in September. There's a good chance he'll be back in there in right field for Game 2 of the series against Tampa on Saturday. The 31-year-old's recent cold spell at the plate has dropped his season slash line in 2025 to .244/.324/.461 with 27 home runs, 91 RBI, 69 runs, and five steals. The Japanese outfielder has already set career highs in homers and RBI in his fourth MLB season.

Seiya Suzuki Sitting on Friday

Chicago Cubs designated hitter/outfielder Seiya Suzuki is out of the lineup on Friday against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Shane Baz. Moises Ballesteros will take over as the DH and bat sixth. Suzuki is getting the day off amid a severe slump. He has just one home run since the All-Star break and has opened September 7-for-34 (.206) with no extra-base hits, two RBI, nine strikeouts, and six walks in nine games. Thanks to his excellent production over the first couple months of the season, the 31-year-old still boasts a strong .244/.324/.461 line with 27 homers, 91 RBI, 69 runs, and five stolen bases over 611 plate appearances.

Seiya Suzuki Doubles, Homers in Win on Sunday

Chicago Cubs DH Seiya Suzuki had a productive day in an 11-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, and two RBI to help power Chicago to the lopsided victory. The veteran gave the Cubs their final run of the contest with his solo homer in the fifth inning, a blast that had an exit velocity of 106.1 MPH while traveling 405 feet. Suzuki is putting together an excellent season for the Cubs, slashing .263/.319/.561 with 22 doubles, 25 homers, 48 runs, 77 RBI, and two stolen bases in 346 at-bats. He is an excellent source of power numbers in all fantasy leagues.

Seiya Suzuki Launches 21st Homer; Power Spike Fueling Career Season

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki continued his strong offensive run on Tuesday night, launching his 21st home run of the season in an 8-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. The blast came in the third inning off Cardinals right-hander Michael McGreevy, when Suzuki turned on a 91.7 mph sinker and drove it 404 feet for a three-run shot. The 30-year-old didn't stop there, adding a pair of hard-hit singles to finish the game 3-for-5. It was his second multi-hit game in his last three starts and a continuation of what is shaping up to be the best stretch of his four-year professional career. Suzuki is now slashing .262/.315/.546 with a career-high .861 OPS and has already tied his personal best in home runs. His expected slugging percentage of .540 ranks in the 92nd percentile league-wide, backing up the power surge and suggesting that this level of production is no fluke. If Suzuki maintains this trajectory, he could finish the year as one of the most impactful bats in the Cubs' lineup.

Seiya Suzuki Homers Twice in Loss

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki came ready to swing the bat during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Suzuki smacked a solo shot off right-hander Logan Gilbert in the first inning. He would get Gilbert again with a two-run blast in the sixth inning. Suzuki finished his day 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in what ended up being a blowout loss. The veteran slugger has 20 homers on the season as he's quickly climbing up the home run leaderboard in the National League. He needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats right now.
