Seiya Suzuki Cooling Off After Hot Stretch

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki was on an unbelievable run at the plate, but he has cooled off lately. Over the last week, Suzuki is 2-for-17 at the plate with one home run, two RBI, and four walks. The veteran slugger is hitless over his last four games, as it appears Suzuki is coming back down to Earth. It was eventually going to happen, but fantasy managers still might be able to sell-high on Suzuki despite some recent struggles. It wasn't too long ago that no pitcher was able to get him out. Over the last month, Suzuki has recorded 26 hits with seven home runs. Fantasy managers might be able to sell him on the hopes that he'll return to that form soon.

Seiya Suzuki Starting in Right Field in Season Debut

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) is starting in right field and is batting fifth for the Cubbies in his 2026 season debut on Friday in the series opener against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski at Wrigley Field, according to MLB.com. Suzuki was reinstated from the 15-day injured list on Friday, and he'll immediately enter the starting rotation. The Japanese outfielder sprained his knee on March 14 with Team Japan while playing in the World Baseball Classic. Manager Craig Counsell said that the Cubs will ease Suzuki back into the fold, so fantasy managers should probably expect him to be on the bench for Game 2 of the series against the Bucs on Saturday. The 31-year-old veteran sacrificed some contact for more power last year, hitting a career-high 31 homers and driving in a career-high 103 runs in 151 regular-season games. Hopefully, his knee sprain doesn't sap him of that power in 2026.

Seiya Suzuki Will be Eased Back into Action

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) will not play every day upon his return from the 10-day injured list, manager Craig Counsell told Bruce Levine of 670 The Score. The Cubs reinstated Suzuki from the IL on Friday, but fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if he's not included in the starting nine for the series opener at Wrigley Field against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates. The 31-year-old Japanese native sprained his knee back on March 14 in the World Baseball Classic while playing for Team Japan, which is why he wasn't available for the Cubbies to begin the 2026 regular season. His playing time might be sporadic initially, but Suzuki will eventually be an everyday player for Chicago between right field and designated hitter. Suzuki launched the ball more in 2025 in his fourth year in the big leagues, setting career-highs in homers (32) and RBI (103) in 651 plate appearances. The hope is that his knee injury doesn't sap him of that power going forward.

Seiya Suzuki Back From the Injured List

The Chicago Cubs reinstated outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and designated outfielder Dylan Carlson for assignment in a corresponding move, according to Taylor McGregor of Watch Marquee Sports. It remains to be seen if Suzuki will make his season debut in Friday's series opener at Wrigley Field against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates, so fantasy managers will want to check back when the Cubs release their starting lineup. Suzuki strained his knee while playing for Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic back on March 14, but now that he's back, he should be a lineup regular for Chicago between right field and designated hitter. It will mean less time for Michael Conforto in the outfield. Suzuki's fantasy managers are hoping that his knee injury doesn't sap him of his power after he slugged a career-high 32 homers while driving in 103 in 151 regular-season games in 2025.

Seiya Suzuki Continues Rehab Assignment; Cubs Eye Weekend Return?

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) is expected to continue his rehab assignment Tuesday and Wednesday before rejoining the team Friday for a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Suzuki was placed on the 10-day injured list March 25 with a right knee injury and has spent the last few days playing with Double-A Knoxville. The 31-year-old has not played a game this season and will look to return to his everyday role upon activation. Suzuki is in his fifth season with Chicago and posted a .245 AVG, .326 OBP, and .478 SLG last year, providing a steady and productive bat in the lineup.

Seiya Suzuki To Begin Rehab Assignment on Friday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Knoxville on Friday, according to Taylor McGregor of the Marquee Sports Network. Per McGregor, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that he expects the assignment to last anywhere from three to seven days. Suzuki started the season on the 10-day injured list after spraining his PCL in Team Japan's loss to Venezuela in the quarterfinal round of the World Baseball Classic on March 14. In 2025, Suzuki hit just .245, but reached career highs in home runs (32) and RBI (103), and will be a welcome addition back to the heart of the Cubs' lineup. His return will squeeze utilityman Matt Shaw and outfielder Michael Conforto out of their regular roles and into a possible split platoon.

Seiya Suzuki to Begin a Rehab Assignment Soon

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said on Tuesday that outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) will go on a minor-league rehab assignment when the team is on the road, according to Taylor McGregor of Watch Marquee Sports. The exact timing of the rehab assignment and the location are still to be determined. The Cubs start their six-game road trip in Cleveland against the Guardians on Friday, so Suzuki should start playing in minor-league games this weekend as he recovers from a strained PCL in his knee that he suffered while playing for Japan in the World Baseball Classic. With Suzuki on the 10-day injured list to begin the 2026 regular season, Matt Shaw and Michael Conforto have been platooning in right field for the Cubbies. The 31-year-old Suzuki is a must-stash in all fantasy baseball formats after hitting a career-high 32 home runs and driving in a career-high 103 runs in 151 regular-season games in 2025 in his fourth year in the big leagues.

Seiya Suzuki to Start the Season on the Injured List

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said on Monday that outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) will start the season on the injured list, according to Marquee Sports Network. We already knew that Suzuki wouldn't be ready for Opening Day this week after suffering a sprained PCL in his right knee while playing for Team Japan in the World Baseball Classic. The good news for fantasy managers is that the 31-year-old veteran isn't expected to be out long term, and he should make his 2026 season debut at some point in May. With Suzuki out to start the year, fantasy managers should expect some sort of platoon in right field between Michael Conforto and Matt Shaw. Suzuki becomes slightly more risky for those who have yet to draft before Opening Day this week. If his knee injury lingers, he could lose plenty of power at the plate after setting career-highs in homers (32) and RBI (103) in 151 regular-season games for the Cubs in 2025.

Seiya Suzuki Won't be Ready for Opening Day

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) won't be ready to play in time for Opening Day. Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed the news on Saturday that shouldn't really shock anyone. Suzuki is currently recovering from a PCL sprain in his right knee that he suffered during the World Baseball Classic. The Cubs have until Wednesday to decide if they want to place Suzuki on the 15-day injured list or carry him on the bench to begin the season. The expectation is that Matt Shaw and Michael Conforto will split up the time in right field until Suzuki is ready to play. Once healthy, Suzuki should be a solid fantasy contributor after blasting a career-high 32 home runs with the Cubs last season. Fantasy managers should check back in a few days for another update on Suzuki.

Seiya Suzuki Resumes Light Baseball Activities

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (knee) has resumed light throwing and hitting, according to the team's injury and transaction tracker on MLB.com. Suzuki is working his way back from a PCL sprain that he suffered during the World Baseball Classic. The Cubs have directed Suzuki to begin these light baseball activities to determine whether he should be placed on the injured list. At this point, it seems probable that he'll miss Opening Day, even if he ends up avoiding an IL stint. That's tough news for the Cubs, who were expecting to pencil him into the No. 4 spot in their lineup as the everyday right fielder. Once he returns to action, the 31-year-old will look to build on a 2025 campaign in which he delivered a career-high 32 home runs and 103 RBI. Despite the injury blip, Suzuki still ranks as the #27 outfielder in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings for 2026.
