Trea Turner to Return on Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) will come off the 10-day injured list before the team's regular-season finale against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Manager Rob Thomson said the plan is to give Turner a few innings at shortstop as the second-seeded Phillies gear up for the playoffs. They've gone about three weeks without Turner, who strained his right hamstring in a loss to the Miami Marlins on Sept. 7. The three-time All-Star is in position to win his second National League batting title and has slashed .305/.356/.458 with 15 homers, 69 RBI, 94 runs scored, and 36 stolen bases in 140 games and 637 plate appearances.

Trea Turner Could Return on Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) had another encouraging day of work on Friday, but he will not come off the 10-day injured list to play on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins, according to Lochlahn March of the Philadelphia Inquirer. However, Turner may return on Sunday. The 32-year-old All-Star and likely National League batting champion in 2025 has been sidelined since Sept. 8 with a right-hamstring strain. The Phillies have not rushed him back after already locking up a playoff spot and a first-round bye, but they would like him to get some at-bats this weekend before the end of the regular season. Barring a setback, Turner should be a lock to play in Game 1 of the Division Series on Oct. 4. They will be hoping that Turner can pick up right where he left off before his injury. He's currently hitting .305 (179-for-587) on the year with 15 homers, 69 RBI, 94 runs, and 36 steals.

Trea Turner Not Guaranteed to Return This Weekend

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) will not play on Friday and isn't guaranteed to come off the 10-day injured list for the final series of the regular season this weekend against the visiting Minnesota Twins at Citizens Bank Park, according to manager Rob Thomson. "Still not sure about the weekend, but we know that he'll be ready for the playoffs," Thomson said. Turner has faced live pitching and will add in some running and agility drills on Thursday. He's been out since straining his right hamstring on Sept. 7, but he's making progress and is on the cusp of a return. The Phillies are set to have a first-round bye in the postseason, so their first game in October won't come until Oct. 4 in Game 1 of the NLDS. The 32-year-old Turner is currently in line to win the NL batting title with a .305 average, and he also still leads the NL with 179 hits, so it's great news that the Phils will have him in the playoffs.

Trea Turner Could Return for Final Regular-Season Series

The Athletic's Matt Gelb writes that Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) "could be activated for the final series of the season against the Minnesota Twins," which starts on Friday. The Phillies have been "thrilled" by Turner's recovery from a strained right hamstring and would love to get him some at-bats this weekend before the postseason begins in October. The 32-year-old All-Star is scheduled to face live pitching on Tuesday and Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park, and if he gets through that without any setbacks, it could pave the way for him to be cleared to come off the 10-day injured list on Friday. Despite being out the last two weeks with his hamstring injury, Turner still leads the National League with 179 hits on the year. He's leading the league with a .305 average, 15 homers, 69 RBI, and 36 steals in 140 games. Philly is going to need Turner fully healthy if they want to get back to the World Series.

Trea Turner "Ahead of Schedule" in Recovery From Hamstring Injury

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) is progressing well in his recovery from a strained right hamstring and could return during the final week of the regular season, Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. After Turner took grounders at shortstop over the weekend, manager Rob Thomson said that "it looks like he's ahead of schedule." Turner's progress since going on the 10-day injured list on Sept. 8 is highly encouraging for the Phillies as the postseason approaches. The Phillies hold an insurmountable 12-game lead in the NL East, and the 32-year-old is among the reasons for that. Turner leads the NL in batting average and has slashed .305/.356/.458 with 15 homers, 69 RBI, 94 runs scored, and 36 stolen bases over 637 plate appearances. Edmundo Sosa (groin) initially took over for Turner at short, but he was out of the lineup with a groin injury over the weekend. That left Bryson Stott to handle short, while Donovan Walton and Weston Wilson split time at second.

Trea Turner Going on Injured List, Phillies Hope to Have him Back for Playoffs

The Philadelphia Phillies are placing shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a hamstring strain, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic. The New York Post's Jon Heyman is reporting that the Phillies "seem hopeful" that Turner might be back for the playoffs, and even potentially right before. With the 32-year-old going on the shelf after getting hurt in Sunday's loss to the Miami Marlins, first baseman Bryce Harper will lead off for the Phils in Monday's series opener against the division-rival New York Mets. With Turner unlikely to play again in the 2025 regular season, fantasy managers in single-year leagues can now drop him for a replacement. Edmundo Sosa is starting at the 6 in Turner's place on Monday and should see the majority of starts at the position with Turner out for the remainder of September. UPDATE: Turner was diagnosed with a Grade 1, according to manager Rob Thomson. It's less severe than the Grade 2 strain he dealt with in 2024.

Trea Turner Undergoing MRI Exam on Monday

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Scott Lauber reports that Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) is headed for an MRI exam on his right hamstring on Monday after he left in the seventh inning of Sunday's loss to the Miami Marlins with a hamstring strain. Either way, Turner probably will not play in Monday's series opener against the division-rival New York Mets, and fantasy managers should be well prepared for the 32-year-old veteran to land on the injured list. If Turner needs to go on the IL, there's a chance we may not see him again until the playoffs in October, which would obviously be terrible news for fantasy managers still playing for a title. If Turner must miss extended time, Edmundo Sosa is the top candidate to take over everyday duties at the 6 in Philadelphia.

Trea Turner Suffers Hamstring Strain

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) exited Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins with a strained right hamstring, according to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Turner reached on an error in the seventh inning and then removed himself from the game. The Phillies subbed in Edmundo Sosa to replace Turner, who finished the day 1-for-4 with a solo home run. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Turner end up on the 10-day injured list, which would be an unwelcome late-season development for both the Phillies and fantasy managers. The 32-year-old star has put together another terrific campaign, having slashed .305/.356/.458 with 15 homers, 69 RBI, 94 runs scored, and 36 stolen bases in 637 plate appearances. Turner is on track to win his second career batting title.

Trea Turner Not in Lineup on Saturday

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is out of the lineup on Saturday against Miami Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara. Edmundo Sosa will fill in at short and bat eighth. It's a rare day off for Turner, who has played in 139 of the Phillies' 141 games this year. The 32-year-old has slashed .305/.357/.455 with 14 homers, 68 RBI, 93 runs scored, and 36 stolen bases in yet another standout campaign. Turner, the NL leader in batting average, has gone a red-hot 9-for-19 with a triple, four RBI, and a steal in four games this month. There's no indication that Turner is dealing with an injury, so fantasy managers should expect him back in the lineup on Sunday.

Trea Turner Homers, Drives in Five in Productive Night

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-4 in Friday's 9-1 win over the Rangers, including a double, a home run, and five RBI. He also walked twice and stole a base in the contest. The 3x All-Star's bat was cold for about a week, going 2-for-25 (.080) over a six-game stretch before getting on base eight times in the last two games, so he appears to have put that behind him. For the season, the 32-year-old is slashing .286/.342/.434 with 12 home runs, 51 RBI, 74 runs scored, and 26 steals, putting him comfortably in the top five fantasy producers at the position. He'll go up against a familiar face on Saturday in Jacob deGrom, whom he is 12-for-48 (.250) off of, including a double, a triple, and a home run, but also 17 strikeouts, so there are likely better DFS options.
