Nationals
Washington Nationals third baseman Trey Lipscomb is being promoted to the major league roster, according to Andrew Golden of the Washington Post. Lipscomb has made 38 starts throughout the 2024 season in the majors and has held a .237/.311/.271 line with just one home run, nine RBI, 10 stolen bases, and an 11:21 BB:K ratio. At Triple-A this season, the 24-year-old performed quite well with a .290/.336/.427 line with three long balls, 20 RBI, two stolen bases, and an 8:26 BB:K ratio. Lipscomb could see time at the hot corner during his next major league stint but should be left on the waiver wire until he receives consistent playing time.

Nationals Demote Trey Lipscomb
The Washington Nationals have demoted third base prospect Trey Lipscomb to Triple-A Rochester. Lipscomb got some run earlier in the year, but gone up and down from the farm since. Lipscomb struggled in his recent call-up by having one hit over 11 at-bats. With no clear spot, it makes sense for Lipscomb to continue to get playing time on a regular basis. At 24-years-old, Lipscomb has likely reached his ceiling and is more useful for the Nationals then dynasty leagues. He can safely remain on the wire for now. Replacing Lipscomb will be veteran first baseman Harold Ramirez, who can also remain on the waiver wire.

Trey Lipscomb Hitting Well Back At Triple-A
Washington Nationals infield prospect Trey Lipscomb has continued to hit since he was optioned back to the minors on May 17, including a four-hit game for Triple-A Rochester on Sunday and going 9-for-28 (.321) with a pair of stolen bases over the last seven games. On the season, the 23-year-old is hitting .327 in the minors (13 games), but while with the big league club he was able to swipe 10 bags and score 16 runs in 33 games despite a mediocre .252 average. If he can continue to get on base and get the call again, the former third-round draft pick could be a sneaky source of steals for managers in need, so keep him on your season-long radar.

Trey Lipscomb Collects Three Hits, Three Steals In Game 1 Tuesday
Washington Nationals rookie corner infielder Trey Lipscomb had a great offensive showing in Tuesday's Game 1, a 6-3 win over the White Sox. Lipscomb went 3-for-3 with three singles, a walk, an RBI, and three stolen bases. The 23-year-old has provided decent average and speed this season, slashing .260/.339/.298 with one home run, 16 runs scored, nine RBI, and 10 stolen bases in 199 plate appearances. He is currently rostered in just one percent of leagues and is worth a look in deeper roto leagues.

Trey Lipscomb Hits First Big-League Homer
Washington Nationals rookie infielder Trey Lipscomb went 2-for-3 with his first major-league home run, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's walk-off loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Lipscomb was called up over the weekend for the first time to help replace Nick Senzel, who broke his thumb before Opening Day, and he's quickly made an impression for the Nats while going 3-for-7 with a homer, RBI, stolen base and two runs scored in his first two major-league contests. Many folks believed that the 23-year-old deserved to make the team's Opening Day roster after his hot spring training performance, so if Lipscomb continues to hit, he could see most of the playing time at the hot corner in D.C. over Ildemaro Vargas while Senzel is sidelined with a broken thumb.

Trey Lipscomb To Make MLB Debut Saturday
Washington Nationals infield prospect Trey Lipscomb will make his MLB debut Saturday versus the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Hunter Greene. The 23-year-old was promoted from Double-A on Thursday and will start at third base and hit ninth in his big-league debut. Lipscomb's promotion was due to the fact utility player Nick Senzel fractured his right thumb prior to Opening Day on Thursday. A 2022 third-round pick, Lipscomb spent the 2023 season between High-A and Double-A, combining to hit .272 with 14 home runs and 10 stolen bases across 129 games and 547 trips to the plate. He should split time at the hot corner with Ildemaro Vargas moving forward.

Trey Lipscomb To Be Called Up
Following the injury to third baseman Nick Senzel, who fractured his right thumb before Thursday's Opening Day loss to the Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals No. 16 prospect Trey Lipscomb will be called up from Triple-A Rochester to make his major-league debut, according to a source. Some folks believed Lipscomb should have made the Opening Day roster after impressing in big-league spring training with a team-high .400 batting average, four extra-base hits, seven RBI and defensive versatility. The 23-year-old former third-rounder in 2022 out of Tennessee has average power at the plate and will probably be most useful to the Nats for his defensive versatility. With Senzel out for around three to four weeks, expect Lipscomb to split playing time at third with Ildemaro Vargas, making him worth a waiver-wire flier in NL-only leagues for infield depth.

Trey Lipscomb Finding Success In Minors
Washington Nationals infield prospect Trey Lipscomb landed with the organization as a third-round pick out of the University of Tennessee in 2022. He is a reliable, versatile defender who has played all four infield positions this season. However, with impressive glovework, strong reactive instincts, and an above-average arm, he should stick at third base long-term. Offensively, the 23-year-old has started to re-find his power after going yard just once last year. With that said, his strikeout and walk rates after four months emphasize the need for Lipscomb to improve his plate discipline. This past week, Lipscomb went 15-for-24 (.625) with two homers, two doubles, one triple, and 10 RBI. Discipline late in counts continued to be a concern as he struck out four times and drew just one walk. If the young prospect can bring his K/BB rate down, he'll likely find his way to Triple-A by the end of the season.
