Victor Mesa Jr. Fantasy Stats

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Victor Mesa Jr. was one of the stars of his team's 4-3 win in Game 3 of the American League Division Series over the New York Yankees, hitting a two-run home run off Yankees left-hander Max Fried. Mesa Jr.'s home run was his only hit of the night, but it gave the Rays a 4-2 lead in the sixth inning that they would ultimately never give back. Across 262 plate appearances in the regular season, Mesa Jr. hit .260/.327/.498 with 14 home runs, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. After starting the year in the minors, the 25-year-old has emerged as an everyday corner outfielder for Tampa Bay and provides another dynamic power/speed bat for the Rays. If Mesa Jr. can get hot, he could help power a deep postseason run.

Across 223 plate appearances in 2026, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Victor Mesa Jr. is hitting .257/.326/.510 with 13 home runs, 30 RBI, 32 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. The 25-year-old has been scorching hot in September, hitting .450 with three home runs and three stolen bases across 44 trips to the plate. The lefty-swinging Mesa Jr. has seen most of his playing time this year against right-handed pitching, but he's begun to see everyday playing time in the midst of his current hot streak. Mesa Jr.'s underlying metrics suggest that some slight regression might be coming, but he's still posted an 11.4% barrel rate while keeping his strikeout rate below 20%. With his ability to produce across all five categories, Mesa Jr. profiles as a priority waiver wire target going into the final stretch of the 2026 season.

The Tampa Bay Rays claimed outfielder Victor Mesa Jr. from the Miami Marlins on Friday, sources told Francys Romero. The athletic Cuban outfielder will have a real opportunity to win an Opening Day roster spot out of spring training with the Rays. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter made his major-league debut in 2025 with the Marlins and really struggled at the plate, going 6-for-32 (.188) with one home run, six RBI, five walks, and five strikeouts in a small sample size of only 16 games played. Mesa looked a lot better at Triple-A Jacksonville in 171 plate appearances, posting an OPS of .887 while hitting .301 with seven home runs and 30 RBI. If Mesa wins a roster spot with the Rays to begin the 2026 regular season, he'll most likely be an extra outfielder off the bench.

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, although he is not in the lineup for the team's afternoon contest against the Mets. The Marlins' 23rd-ranked prospect was activated from the injured list at Triple-A on August 17 and had gone 13-for-35 (.371) in the nine games since activation, including one double, two home runs, 11 RBI, and four runs scored during that stretch. Once a top prospect for Miami, there is potential to hit for power, and with a low 16.8 percent strikeout rate this season, he could hit for average, too, but he's fallen off over the last couple of seasons in the stolen base category. The 23-year-old made a brief debut with the Marlins earlier this year, but if he's not going to get regular at-bats, there is little reason to pick him up in season-long leagues.

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. (undisclosed) was activated from the Triple-A Jacksonville 7-day injured list on Sunday. The cause for the injured list stint was not disclosed, but hamstring issues bothered him earlier in the year and could have persisted. Regardless, it appears he's fully recovered and will be back in action for the Jumbo Shrimp in Sunday's matchup with the Norfolk Tides. The 23-year-old finished last season as the Marlins' fourth-ranked prospect, but has since fallen out of the top 30. Even so, he made his major league debut in May, recording one hit in 10 at-bats for the big league club. At Triple-A, the Cuban slashed .262/.322/.423 in 37 games, and should be back in the big leagues at some point this year or next. With decent power and speed, as well as a low 16.3 percent strikeout rate, there is potential fantasy value to be unlocked, but the left-handed slugger is not a stash candidate at this time.

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. went 1-for-4 with an RBI during their loss to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday evening. Mesa earned the call to the majors earlier this week. He made an appearance during Monday's game against the Padres but received his first start on Tuesday. In this contest, Mesa knocked an RBI single in the first inning, which scored infielder Connor Norby. In this contest, Mesa got the starting nod in center field and will likely see most of his opportunities there with both Derek Hill (wrist) and Dane Myers (oblique) on the injured list. Earlier this season, Mesa appeared in 16 games in the minor leagues and held a .250/.317/.393 line. In 2024, he posted a .259 AVG with 13 home runs and five stolen bases at Triple-A. If he continues to see time in center field, he would be worth adding in deeper 14+ team formats.

The Miami Marlins announced on Monday that they recalled outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. from Triple-A Jacksonville and placed outfielder Derek Hill (wrist) on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist sprain in a corresponding move. Mesa, the team's No. 26 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener at Petco Park against the San Diego Padres, but he could see regular playing time in center field going forward with both Hill and Dane Myers (oblique) on the injured list at the moment. The 23-year-old Cuban gets his first call to the big leagues after dealing with a right-hamstring injury earlier this year and hitting .250 (14-for-56) with a homer, eight RBI and five runs scored in 16 games with Single-A Jupiter and Jacksonville. Mesa has surprising pop for a 5-foot-11, 195-pounder, but it hasn't showed up in the minors so far this year.

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. (hamstring) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with the Single-A Jupiter Hammerheads on Saturday night. Mesa is returning from a strained right hamstring that he suffered at the start of spring training. The 23-year-old is listed as the team's No. 26 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, after slashing .255/.318/.423 with a .741 OPS, 13 home runs, 51 RBI, five stolen bases and 48 runs scored in 83 games with Jupiter and Triple-A Jacksonville a year ago. Whenever the Cuban outfielder finishes up his rehab assignment, he'll likely head back to the Jumbo Shrimp to continue his development. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound left-handed hitter has developed into a 20-homer guy but will need to shore up his plate discipline if he's going to have any sustained success once he surfaces in the big leagues.

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. (hamstring) was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. The 23-year-old was in camp competing for a roster spot this spring when he suffered a strained right hamstring during drills on Feb. 21, never even getting a chance to appear in a Grapefruit League game. The left-handed hitter was trying to get back on track after a back injury ended his 2024 season in July. The Marlins' 27th-ranked prospect began the Triple-A season hot last year before fading over his final 13 games prior to the injury, finishing with a .255-13-51-48-5 line. The Cuban outfielder likely would have made his MLB debut last year if not for the injury, and this new injury is yet another setback, but look for him to get a call-up to the big leagues at some point this season, bringing with him a little bit of pop along with a little bit of speed, which could make for an intriguing waiver add in deeper and NL-only leagues whenever that happens.

Miami Marlins outfield prospect Victor Mesa Jr. (hamstring) is dealing with tightness in his right hamstring. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout camp, as he may be in danger of missing time, depending on the severity of the injury. Mesa spent the entire 2024 campaign at Triple-A and does have a path to cracking the Opening Day roster. Across his first 80 contests at Triple-A, the 23-year-old posted a strong .259/.319/.430 slash line with 14 doubles, 13 home runs, and five stolen bases. This was similar to the .242/.308/.412 line, he posted across 123 games at Double-A during the 2023 campaign. When healthy, fantasy managers should expect Mesa to compete for a role in center field alongside Dane Myers and Derek Hill. Given this injury, the team may opt to give Mesa additional time to rest, likely resulting in him opening the season at Triple-A.
