Gabriel Vilardi News
Los Angeles Kings winger Gabriel Vilardi is sitting out Thursday's matchup against Dallas with an undisclosed injury. There was already a big question mark hanging over him when Vilardi missed Wednesday's practice and it's now confirmed that he won't be in the lineup Thursday. The Kings lose their fifth-best scorer who has tallied 31 points in 45 games during a breakout campaign. Vilardi has also been hot to start off 2023, collecting seven points in six games. Samuel Fagemo is set to fill in for Vilardi on the third line. The 22-year-old will be making his fourth appearance of the season, having recorded one goal and one assist so far.
Los Angeles Kings winger Gabriel Vilardi had a hand on two goals Thursday versus Calgary, helping the team to a 4-3 overtime win. He got the Kings on the board late in the first period and posted an assist when Blake Lizotte scored the team's third goal. Vilardi had four total shots in the game and recorded three blocks with a plus-two rating in 17:40 of ice time. The young winger still leads the team with 14 goals, and having 22 points through 35 outings isn't an awful return, but Vilardi has been stuck in a bad slump since cooling off from a red-hot start. He posted 13 of his points in October and entered Thursday's action with a run of six points in 20 games.
Los Angeles Kings winger Gabriel Vilardi (upper body) should be good to go Tuesday versus Seattle, according to head coach Todd McLellan. McLellan didn't guarantee Vilardi's availability Monday despite him going through a full practice session, but it now appears safe to assume that the young forward will be back in action after missing one game with an upper-body injury. Some might actually say that Vilardi has been missing for a while because he has suffered a huge drop in from this month. Vilardi exploded for 13 points in 11 October appearances but has managed just three in November. He was always going to cool down at some point but the drop-off has been bigger than expected.
Los Angeles Kings winger Gabriel Vilardi has earned himself a first-line role for Saturday's matchup against Toronto. He practiced on the line Friday, replacing Kevin Fiala. The move came after Vilardi scored already his sixth goal of the season in Thursday's 6-4 loss to Winnipeg. He leads the team in both goals and points (10) early in the campaign. Vilardi's emergence has been a big story in L.A. as it looks like he is finally establishing himself in the league after making his debut all the way back in 2019-20. The 23-year-old won't be able to hang on to his 26 percent shooting percentage forever, but fantasy managers should enjoy it while it lasts.
