Winnipeg Jets forward Morgan Barron has agreed a two-year extension with the team, inking a deal worth $2.7 million. The 24-year-old was set for an arbitration hearing on Aug. 2 before he was able to work out a new contract with the Jets. Barron enjoyed a career year in 2022-23 with 21 points in 70 games, adding 118 hits. He looks set to start off next season on the fourth line, which will limit his fantasy appeal.

Barron has started to pick up form again after having a 10-game scoring drought. He has produced 11 points in total in 31 outings this season with 53 shots, 48 hits and 23 blocks. Barron spent some time on the top line earlier in the season, but the Jets have gotten healthy and it's limited him to third-line minutes.

The 23-year-old is dealing with a lingering issue and the team has decided to give him some time off Thursday. Barron likely isn't on a lot of fantasy managers' radars, but he's had a hot run lately by averaging a point per game in four outings. These are his only points of the season in nine games. Barron will get his first chance to return Saturday against Chicago.
